I might be mistaken, but very few of the Chinese gymnasts were the best of any apparatus during the final. They won because they were all solid and USA bombed.

I think those badminton players fully deserved on DQ. In group stage of every sport there are teams that try to game the system. Unfortunately there is a different between "not trying very hard" and "deliberately trying to lose". Deliberately hitting the ball to the net seems to be the latter.
