Well they train as a team 24/7 for most of their lives in 'camps' where the US team leads normal lives and have families and school and partake in normal person activities. Kind of gives them a leg up.

They play on individual teams in the Chinese Volleyball League, just like the basketball team players play in the Chinese Basketball Association. These are basically the All-Stars.
