Probably because Ticketmaster have managed all the ticketing to the events.
It's so frustrating having to wait 10-15 minutes at a time when you see tickets, because you know by the time the computer says no there's no point trying any of the others for that batch because people will already be waiting for them. Plus seeing so many empty seats on TV adds to the frustration.

I'm not even sure this would work, to be honest. The front end of the site seems to use some pretty aggressive caching and results vary greatly depending on search criteria. Some events will only show with a narrow search, while others only when you do a wider search.

They seem to be permanent (for the duration of the Games, at least) on BBC.
It's the only thing I don't like in the summer games. Inflated importance is put on the pool.

for nbcolympics they still have the streams from day1. youtube is the stream providers so they'll probably be there forever. if they can keep piece of shit videos on youtube im sure actual worthy videos they can also keep up.

Ah, you're actually trying to get tickets from your basket, rather than being aware when tickets appear? Fair enough. As I said: Ringing them worked great for me!
