BY THE WAY

we were handicapped because there's a limit on the amount of medals you can win in track cycling, so this isn't even our first team that just fucked up Oz and won the WR.

Do you mean as in cyclists? So each person can only win so many medals, and that wasn't even our usual first team?!

Amazing performance.

You watch soccer/football ? Strategic fouls to prevent goals or man advantage is part of the game right ?

Yes, strategic fouls, drawing fouls or charges is a part of basketball.

Link me where I said it wasn't ok to do this. The problem is the double standard people like giga does.

And ensuring you have the best matchup out of pool play is also a part of some sports and resting players and taking it easy when you can't improve position is also a normal part of sport. No one here has a problem with fouls in basketball but the fact that some people in the Olympics are being called disgusting for competing within the rules.

Exactly.

I thought it was only one Team GB team in each event, so we can't get Gold AND Silver/Bronze in the same event (like in 2008)

Why did this happen in the cycling, but not happen in the swimming where the US are just as dominant (and there are even more events).
Seems unfair to me.

Italy sweeps USA in men's beach volleyball to advance to quarterfinals.

Welp, guess NBC is not going to show any more beach volleyball matches ever again.

Each individual sport federation makes the rules really. IOC has some minor oversight such as making deals with bringing pros in for example. What people don't realize is that the Olympics take the place of the World Championships in Olympic years.

I'm pretty sure it's the sport governing body in each individual sport, not the IOC, that decides the rules and tournament format which would explain the disparity between cycling and swimming. Not entirely sure about that though.
