Anyone else find beach volleyball a little boring? Practically every exchange is the same.

1. Team serves
2. Opposition bumps
3. Opposition sets up
4. Opposition spikes

Last 4 days for Team GB, 6, 7, 7 and today 8 medals. Has to slow down soon though as we're already approaching Beijing levels with 7 days left.

Any predictions on what the finally tally will be for us?

why is the women's beach volleyball team two different women than were playing before (Misty May and that other woman)?

They are the same thing.

If you can't grasp how impressive it is to set new world records and top speeds in physical and "simple" activities that have been performed by humans ever since the dawn of time, then I feel for you. Endurance running is a completely different thing. And, while incredibly impressive, it frankly delivers none of the incredible bursts of explosive power we see at the 100m dash.

People don't really care that much about the car with amazing mileage, they care about the cars with explosive performance and incredible speeds. And for good reason.
Bolt's victory didn't detract anything from Mo Farah's performance, don't worry.
Breaking world records is impressive to me which is why I think everyone who does that should be as celebrated as much as Bolt, but they aren't. Running the fastest gets respect from me but the VAST amount of media hype that goes into one event is absurd.

The worshipping of celebrity as if they're some kind of deity is what disturbs me. If I question that idol or the belief then I get attacked.

Yeah, I don't think it's that interesting to watch. I have a feeling many people tune in just for the scantily-clad females.

Boxing is such a disgrace. If they took it out no one would complain. The referees are probably the worst thing of these Olympics.

Imagine if you found yourself in a foreign country where you didn't understand the customs and couldn't comprehend why people do the things they do.

That's how I feel when it comes to the 100m.

Well if I were in that situation I certainly wouldn't gatecrash some dudes' party and ask them why the hell they're having so much fun.

How can a broadcaster (NBC) be so consistently awful throughout the games? It beggars belief. People are complaining almost every day. Who is running their studios there, a group of chimps?

Honestly, you become numb to the bikinis. Its exciting for the same reason as indoor, crazy saves and back and forths. Its more amazing when two people do it though.

It annoys media savoury Internet users, but for you they have the streams. For the live TV coverage, I expect most of their audience enjoy having the big events spoonfed to them at a convenient time in the evening.

Bolt has just said to BBC Five Live that he wants to do something special in the 200m (eg. 18sec).

Also he ticked off the reporter for pestering him to get over to her quicker!

Haha

Bolt arguing with 5Live's interviewer.

"Why you pressuring me to come over?"

Then she flipped it round on him and he apologised! Haha, it was funny.

They are getting great ratings because most people can be fooled to believe what they are watching is live. So many times you would have Americans saying what is going on live now and its like 4 in the morning in England. NBC makes more money this way and that is all they care about.

You see every world record in every event as identical in terms of prestige?
You must be going nuts watching the US team swim then.

Yeah that was great! He's been doing interviews for 50 minutes now. Sheesh!

Admiration and media frenzy are not the same thing. I have admiration for the man, I just don't see what he can do as being more impressive than other athletes breaking world records in other events.

When those people do that they're the fastest or strongest in that one event but there isn't an explosion of orgasmic delight when they do it.

It's usually not something fundamental like running.

don't be fooled. It's a small, vocal minority of people who are complaining. Most people have stuff to do during the day, then get home and watch the tape delay events at night.

edit: although for those of us who have no lives the bbc stream is way better, though I can't seem to find events on the site older than a day, which is where nbc has them beat.

This is why I much prefer indoor volleyball, more variety, more setups, more tactics (like the libero player). Beachvolley's the same thing repeated over and over.

I have admiration for what they can do but I don't go absolutely mental in a moment of orgasmic delight when they do it. Why? Because that's fucking crazy.
