Why would anybody watch the Olympics on TV?

nbcolympics.com is a thing of beauty. I've been having a blast all week.

My connection in Manhattan is fuck-awful and I get 1080p most of the time.

Did you try watching the 100m live? I had no problems with NBC Olympics until the 20 minutes surrounding the race when it just buffered and I missed the entire race.

Nice of NBC to hype Maroney losing as literally impossible for an entire hour only for her to lose.

It's all prerecorded though and she was expected to win. Then the unthinkable did happen.

She barely acknowledged the Russian girl who won bronze.

Yea I saw that. It was like a slight acknowledgement and then continue to stare at the scoreboard. I understand they probably don't know eachother's language but that death stare doesn't look good sportsmanship wise. It was probably that shock though.

(Probably already posted in the first thread.)

She tried to stick it perfectly, went all or nothing. :(

At least she has that perfect vault from the Team Finals to remember.

seriously fuck nbc for not showing the 100m already.

Yea really. Costas mentioned it and then was like, here's the 400m semifinal! I saw the 100m already but it should've been on much earlier in this timeslot. It's one of the most hyped up events. Stop leading people on for ratings.

At least she still got silver. Imagine not standing on the podium for her event. A gold and a silver is pretty damn good.

Is this simulcast on the west coast? If so they might want to get it late enough for those folks to be in primetime. Or do they just restart everything at 8:00 pm for them?

Yeah, she's done an amazing job, but you can tell she's completely crushed about it.

Too much pressure and hype on her. I can stand the pressure decently but if I was expected to be perfect I know I'd do the same thing and overcompensate for it. You shouldn't tell an athlete they are "guaranteed" a gold, the pressure added is unbearable.

SMH at the massive difference in sportsmanship shown by Pistorius and James vs. Maroney

She looked cold as ice, but maybe that's all she could do to not bust into tears.
She messed up and knew it, probably was still shocked.

Russians cry when they get silvers. Only smile for Gold.
:p

But yeah, kids vs. adults. That was awesome to see with James and Pistorius. What a story.

Yeah. Like I said earlier, I wonder how many olympian's stress over such goals and then they don't ultimately meet them. Hopefully they don't dwell on it for too long.

kids vs adults?

Yeah pretty much.

Wait, really? I heard the results earlier today. I thought it was already shown and I missed it.
Yeah they haven't shown it yet. I of course have already been spoiled.
dumbass on GAF made a thread about it

It's a bad tactic. "Oh you want to see the most hyped event of the day? Well you're going to have to watch the whole thing."

The Romanian (If you're reading this, sorry I forgot your name!) did very well and won fair and square, but in my opinion McKayla is the better vaulter overall. She well outscored everyone with her first 15.866 and her vault for the team Finals was perfect.

But today she had that tiny hop in her first vault, and to compensate for the second vault she tried way too hard to perfectly stick the landing. All the pressure that's been dumped on her, everyone telling her she's the perfect vaulter and must win Gold. She overcompensated and paid the price. A shame, since if she hadn't of tried to force that landing the gold would've easily been her's.

It's an especially horrible tactic when you expect people to watch tape delayed stuff at 11:30 on a Sunday night.

If it was Friday or Saturday night then it's not quite as bad, but on a Sunday night when we have work tomorrow? Come on NBC, try a little bit harder.

Don't even get me started thinking about how NBC getting Sunday Night Football destroyed NFL Primetime on ESPN, the greatest TV show in history

Oh beat me to it! Just going to bring up NFL Sunday night football.
People LOVE staying up til 11pm/midnight on worknights...
ugh.
I think ESPN would do ten times better covering this than NBC has done.

I really don't care who gets the most gold… as long as it isn't China.

I'm going there in a few weeks and I want to have a big cock.

Here's hoping Track next week tips the scales permanently for USA.
