BBC News: Olympic success: How much does a gold medal cost?
I did not know we were that serious about hockey, but that swimming number needs to be seriously reconsidered...
Has anyone tried the official PS360 London 2012 game? Does anyone know if it's any good or just a typical cash-in?
Men's high bar is much better than women's beam.
They're too busy doing real horsey stuff like racing to do this poncy shit.REST OF THE WORLD'S HORSES, ARE YOU EVEN TRYING?
We played it before the opening ceremony to get in the mood. I haven't tried single player at all, but it's a fun party game. The mechanics for most events feel pretty good, easy enough to pick up but olympic/world records still seem to require some real effort. I got the OR in shot put with my first throw though, so the difficulty is a bit uneven. Animation can be a bit clunky, but otherwise the presentation is fine.
The "party" mode doesn't really suit party play. The score limits to unlock more challenges are all over the place and we failed miserably on our first try at the third challenge. Better stick to event play and make your own playlists. One problem is that some events are a bit lengthy (for example, six attempts at triple jump), and with four players and limited attention spans that can be a bit annoying. Then again you can always quit and pick another event, so it's not a big deal.
Yes, spanish girls are silver in synchronised swimming right now!!
Leyva must be so sad, he started and thought he did good but everyone just went and performed the men outdid the women today

50% of British medalists were privately educated. Sport in Britian receives most of its money from the National Lottery good causes. This has been described as a "stealth tax" and the national lottery is often said to be a tax on the working class. So essentially the working class is paying for the privately educated middle class to continue with their sporting endeavours.
Disgusting. And that is why I hope these dressage pounces fall off and break their necks.
I'm going to start lobbying my MP to make more people aware of this and change the way sport is funded.
