The interest is about the same. Actually, there is probably more interest in men's football at this point. The women have tried a few times to start a league and have been unsuccessful, while the MLS is growing every year.

Nah. Soccer is a popular sport with both teenage boys and girls. Also, girls can play field hockey, basketball, lacrosse, softball, etc.
