Fogg isn't expecting to do all that well, so any performance he *is* doing is good.

However... I can't find the stream. Or rather, I can find the stream, but since some point in Lap 1, it's stopped streaming.

FakeEdit: And as soon as I say that, I notice that it's come back.

India has a way bigger population.

But is also a third world country in many places. I don't think training to win at the Olympics is in the majority of Indians' list of priorities. It's a luxury for developed countries. Population and GDP are massive factors in the ability of a country to find talented people and then develop them to the peak of their potential.

I recently listened to an interesting documentary on Radio 4 about the potential limits of human ability and why athletes these days perform so much better than they did several decades ago, and the exploding world population was a big factor. With more people you are more likely to have an increased number of talented genetic outlyers and the therefore they are more likely to have potential identified and developed.

If their economies grow I think large countries such as India and Brazil could well become sporting superpowers over the next few decades.

Also, they are obsessed with cricket

Well damn, everything going against GB in the sailing. The course has been shortened because of lack of wind. They're too far behind to catch up now.

You guys are also forgetting about corruption, politicians favour their children to play in international sports over people who are actually good at them. That's why the Indian hockey teams turned to shit.

Or that Hockey isn't their preferred sport.

No Hockey is pretty big in Indian schools and people like it, the women's team was great at one point until the idiot Congress party politicians ruined it by getting their kids into the national team setup. Quite farcical really.

As with everything in the motherland, corruption is the biggest problem.

Already discussed?

I'm pumped for the Spice Girls performance. Supposedly they will perform on top of black taxis and each of the 5 of them inside a neon-lit Olympic ring.

If I were to guess the medley, I'd say Wannabe/Stop/Spice Up Your Life.

Sarah Stevenson out of the Taekwondo already :-( She was a big gold hope for us. Least Jade delivered yesterday to make up for it I guess.

Wow, this British boxer is a piece of shit. Stop hugging Esquiva after every punch, you wuss.

And why isn't the referee punishing him?
