In his defence, this has been said by more people, as the same happened last year in the world championships, where Semenya also seemed to hold back, not to win.

I had told some of my friends that if I were the US, I would have lost to Turkey in group play and gotten Brazil out. You always want to take a dangerous team out. You always want to take advantage of the rules like Spain and Norway did. That's was a bad strategy by the USA's volleyball coach.
