ESPN show NBA & US College. Eurosport show some European Basketball.

I forgot about Eurosport and it's coverage of European basketball.

FYI out of all the US sports, it's the NFL that gets the most coverage by far, thanks to Sky Sports' efforts and the popularity of the sport since the early 80s. The national coverage the Super Bowl has got in the past few years on network television is extremely impressive.

Then I guess it would be NASCAR/Indycar, then NBA, NHL and then MLB. The latter three are covered sufficiently on ESPN, but that's a niche subscription channel.

Salty? Fuck no, I'm ecstatic.

Our nation of <70m people threw an amazing Olympics and managed to win 29 golds in a wide variety of sports against other very strong nations.

Like I said. Best. Olympics. Ever. (IMO)

indeed! was a great showing all around. my home country ireland walked away with one solid gold. i'll take it.

I wasn't very pro-Olympics before hand but the games won me over in the end.

Roughly this time last year London was in flames and riots were occurring. Fast forward a year and we've put on a great show, the stadia have been packed etc.

Man, I do not get rhythmic gymnastics at all.

The final bit with the shooting/running in the pentathlon hasn't been combined before, right?

I think it's up there. My native country managed to win its second gold medal ever! :D

Once again, if you've enjoyed BBC's Olympic coverage via shady means because your own country fails horribly at broadcasting international events, feel free to donate here.

Turn on the Radio Five Live commentary right now.

It's the horse racing commentator and he's going ballistic! It's great!

A silver medal for GB in the women's pentathlon, someone should tell Linekar and the BBC presentators because they were convinced the Olympics was as good as finished last night.

Gold and two silvers today. To reuse a popular measure this olympics - if the events we medalled in after Gary Linekar (and Gabby Logan) basically said they were finished was a country, itd be in 40th place, above Ireland.

NBA is on ESPN America, but yeah, you'd have to pay £10 a month to get it.

I remember NFL was on Channel 4 in the 90s, but I don't think they show anything, anywhere any more - except for the Superbowl.

But it's not really surprising, foreign leagues are never going to be more than niche attractions and there isn't really much of a professional circuit for basketball in the UK.

The United States to European nations medal count comparison is irrational. Each European country can send up to 3 athletes per event, and one team. The USA collectively can only send 3 athletes per event, and one team. Add up the amount of participants the EU sent to the US's. Europe sent hundreds more, giving more opportunities for medals.
