still bummed no leaks happened or pics of what really went down there, i can only imagine

Does BBC have a replay stream of the Closing Ceremony up?

I'm tired of waiting for NBC to decide it feels like broadcasting (parts of) it.

We need to get a member of GAF competing at Rio for the insider info.

Of course it's supposed to be imposing. It's the biggest symbol of the Games.

Seeing it there sitting barely in view in the Stadium made me literally sad.

Watching it during the opening and closing was pretty cool, but during the games... Well, might as well not even have a cauldron.

I care.

Brazil - no offense - but on EVERY SINGLE THING i find you are WRONG AS FUCK on EVERYTHING.

From the games, to Nintendo to EVERYTHING. It's just weird i keep reading what you post and i scratch my head as how the complete -anti- me you are.

AND.... you look like Sweets from from Bones.

Holy shit. STOP it man, STOP IT!

(only 4% serious, love you mang! Obviously you aren't "wrong" it's just you seem to take the other side of every position i take on everything. Ah, the joys of Message Boards)

I have a friend with a condo in Rio somewhere. If i can shed my wife and kids and job and responsibilities - I AM THERE. But i'll be 42... so i'll be a grumpy old fuck who just complains about shit.

Any word on how long BBC will keep all the stuff on its site? Awesome archive of Olympic footage, would be nice to be able to watch at any time. Im guessing it wont last forever though?

Yes; I feel like I had a glimpse of the future with all the channels available and live streams that could be rewinded (and had bookmarks). I'm afraid I won't see anything like that again for a long time.
It's technology they can apply to all their coverage from now on though, although not on the same scale. But the instant rewind stuff is already working on iPlayer, and the bookmarking will surely be used in all future sports coverage.

It's not really very exciting. Just a big pop concert. You might be better off watching the edited version, some bits drag a little.

They've said: Until January.

It might actually be possible to watch everything in that time.

5.- The lack of British history and literature in the opening ceremony. (Where're the britons, the saxons, the celts? Tolkien?)

I believe that Tolkien got the best tribute of anyone at the Opening Ceremony as the themes and aesthetic used for the Ceremony are the same as the ones Tolkien drew on to write LOTR. Everyone in the world joked about the Shire and Isengard during the OC so people certainly recognised how tied together Tolkien and British History are.

It was a good Olympics, even if I didn't watch as much of it as I did last time around. Looking forward to it being back around the EST next time around though.

Apparently till January.

I have an exam this week, an essay due the next and a thesis next month. Fuck me the Olympics distracted me.

How was the closing ceremony? Was it worth watching?

If you expect it to be your personal ipod list of Brit music then it will suck.

If you want to see a party in a pretty amazing upbeat mood you will like it.

If you are in the states NBC will probably butcher it to shit anyways so you wont get to see it.

Get Brazil to do it. Host country can enter anyone and they are guaranteed entry. So pick an event that Brazilians are shit at and go for it.

Olympic flame was amazing. Never mind the engineering which was good. Just the whole symbolism of each country bringing a piece of the flame, and then letting them take it back to their country is hugely moving IMO.

Okay, thanks. I might just watch clips.

For us Americans, how long will the Olympics coverage stay up On Demand or (if there is any) as a stream? I want to watch some events I missed.

Also, there has to be some Gaf member training for the olympics or something. I want to know what happens in that village, NOW!

Even though i disn't like the closing cermony
(or the cauldron placing), the olympics were great. Especially the huge crowds. Well done GB

Procrastinating to avoid going to bed, because when I wake up the Olympics really will be over. :(

At least this BBC Three talking heads Olympic thing is pretty funny.

Maybe pick something athletic. If you're really shit you can end up on TV like the Nigerian rower.

They'll interview the intriguing athlete that wears a "believe" bandana everywhere to hear the inspiring story behind it, just to learn it's a reference to an online forum.

I think tomorrow I will just restart watching the Olympics from the beginning again. Or at least watch some of the events I didn't see much of like table tennis.

I'm honestly thinking of taking up triathlon competitively. I've entered them for fun for quite a while and I'm particularly strong in both the cycling and swimming, which I've competed in semi-competitively (regional championships) before. I think I could do it...
