It's nice to find a way to pat yourself on the back... I would love to see this PSV software brilliance.
They handled that... well??? What?

I don't understand your post but, what I was trying to say was that whenever my PS1/PS2 broke, I had to pay. With MS, they paid shipping, handling and repairs and I also got some points or a game thrown in so too me, yes they handled that well.
Wow, thats insanity. I disagree with almost everything you have said here, but I have a feeling you will be around longer than him.I just received a PM from Tarrasque threatening to follow me from thread to thread until he can "get me banned". Dude has got some intense feelings.
.
I was going to disagree, but that actually fits with what Kaz said. Divisions doing whatever the hell they wanted and then releasing stuff without concern of how it would be received. As well as how badly they treated (or ignored) third party devs for the first couple of years. I remember old 1UP Yours podcasts on which devs were talking about how they were getting tons of dev support from Microsoft, but Sony wouldnt provide anyone to assist them. Can file both of those issues under arrogance for sure.
Had my launch ps2 fixed for free in 2003 with a DRE. I've had three separate 360s RROD, one of them twice. Anecdotal evidence doesn't mean much.
"You know, things break."
My point is that for most people the RROD is absolutely inexcusable and was not handled well at all. Especially at first.Uhm, okay?

My point stands that the new Sony is much better as compared to the Sony in 2006.
They have made good decisions with the PS3 and it will help them in the long run.
Most of points people bringing here were once true or is just blatant trolling.

"You know, things break" is a quote from Peter Moore when he was with MS trying to downplay the issue.
Threads like this just make me SMH. Some of you (meaning a lot of you) are way too attached to one particular company. It's now considered trolling to have a opinion on a product you own? Amazing. Also why do you care if someone has a negative opinion on the Almighty Sony? Do you work for them? Do have have shares in them? Or are you just a child? If a company does right by me, I don't care that's their job, that's what they are supposed to do. I don't become their white knights and viral marketing fanboys.
Every thread lately this happens. What's wrong with you people?
Well of course.I didn't say it was excusable, I said they handled it well. I know where the quote came from but if we're going to start pulling out quotes that didn't vibe well with the consumer then Sony definately takes that cake.
Anyway, time to break in my new arcade stick.
They're just not marketed right.
The fact that the console launched at a (frankly ludicrous) $500 price point doesn't matter. It's six years old, and people don't want to pay $249 for a six year old piece of hardware
I would love to see this PSV software brilliance.
They all are, it's getting ridiculous. All of the consoles should be at he $150 price point by now.I'm inclined to agree with Rob Fahey. The system is way overdue for the under 200 range.
Yeah! He's right! I want my 2006 Ferrari f430 at the mass market price. It's 6 years old damnit!
Too many AA IPs and not enough AAA IPs. They're throwing everything at the wall to see what will stick and become their Halo or what have you.
Their exclusive software library is mighty impressive and diverse though, much more so than their competitors, it just doesn't seem to bring the same return with rising development costs.

If Zonda R is at the mass market price, your Ferrari better be as well.
lol @ everyone hating on Daydream Sequence. The man speaks the truth, people.
This whole experience reminds me of the Dreamcast situation just before Sega pulled the plug. Man, we Sega fans cried bitter tears, let me tell you. But life goes on. I'm sitting in my office. I have a Saturn permanently connected to a small CRT TV in the corner of the room. Turning it on gives me a warm feeling. But I don't dwell on the past and what might have been. Just move on. Enjoy what you got out of Sony but realise that it is probably over.
Nintendo, OUYA and likely Microsoft will be around next gen. Take your pick. Continue having fun. Don't get caught up emotionally. Hardware makers come and go. It's how this industry works.

This post is so ironic.
Lets see(clears throat)
Threads like this make me SMH. Some of you(meaning a lot of you) are way to attached to try and shit on one company. Its now considered not trolling to go into every thread about Sony, regardless of the subject and post the same unrelated and biased drivel and try to quantify it by the fact that you supposedly own one of their products? Also why do you care if someone has a positive opinion of the Amazingly Shitty Sony? Do you work for MS? Do you have shares in them? Or are you just a troll?

Spare me the BS please.
If I remember correctly last gen, R&C games barely sold well enough to become GH games. Once they became GH games, that's when sales started going up because many people are cheap (want to buy $20 games). That's the way most SCEA games got sales in NA that weren't SOCOM, God of War, etc. That's incorrect. Take the Ratchet and Clank series. On PS2 the US sales of each game was more than the total of Europe and Japan combined(or close to it). On the PS3 versions US sales are below Europe for each Ratchet game. Sony cares very much about this. If they don't, they're fools.

And that's GT5's sales after one year. It's always been known as a series with extremely long legs. In 2010 GT4 finally surpassed GT1 as the best second best selling game in these series.
GT5 did not outsell Gears in America and Uncharted in America is NOWHERE near Gears. Don't know what crack you're smoking to even suggest such a thing.
I don't care about discussing Europe, as I know Sony does do better there. But there's something with their games that are just not appealing to America.
Jesus Christ people!
Why don't you all just bring back your Sony Defense Force avatars and get it over with.
This shit is getting beyond annoying.
"Oh, no something negative is posted about Sony! Let's all cling together and attack everyone and everything we don't like in the name of our lord and saviour!"
SMH
I fail to see how Sony make brilliant software imo, Resistance, Killzone, Infamous are all average at best with Infamous being above average. There are way better alternatives to most of the games they have made this gen.
For me the only truly great exclusives they have put out are Valkryia Chronicles which was done by a 3rd party, and Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time. Demons Souls is probably the best out of the lot.
Posts like this are annoying to.
"Why doesn't anybody let us shit up every Sony thread?"
Also, I'm still waiting for custom soundtracks on all PS3 games... or a Pandora app, considering how much of an annoyance it is to use Pandora on the web browser. That last one is frustrating because I have a cheap (~$50) Sony Blu-Ray player that has a friggin' Pandora app built in, and it works mostly fine other than the fact that the player itself is just dogshit slow because, well, it's $50.
Odd. Infamous has some sort of relevancy to the masses?I have being saying this for years. Outside acouple games like inFamous, Uncharted and GT, Sonys software has no relevancy to the masses and is just championed by nerds on the Internet.
Sony never will get their own version of Halo/Gears/Mario/Zelda etc, they blew it when they lost Spyro and Crash Bandicoot. There is never a go to game for the 'Playstation Family' like the way people flock to the Xbox for Halo or Nintendo devices for Mario/Zelda.
Uncharted 2 one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time. It's like the orcarina of time /ff7 of this generation and was the overall highlight game imo.

You're one of the worst offenders as of late, so I don't think you're one to pass judgement.
I know it's your opinion but i highly doubt UC2 will EVER be looked back on in the same light that OoT is. What exactly did the game innovate? Becoming more like a movie? Witty dialogue? Automated platforming?
You kind of ignored their highest rated games there.
If UC 2 was released today it wouldn't get the same scores as it did back then, I've noticed there is a rising resentment against super linear, scripted games these days whilst there wasn't back then.

I will admit that I've been feeding the trolls in a sense but its pretty fucking annoying to see the same group of posters trying to shit up and downplay anything that comes from a certain company.
Or maybe gamers at large just don't think Sony's software is that brilliant?
Comparing UC2 to OoT is not possible. Two completely different games set out to do completely different things. A game need not be looked back fondly solely based on whether it innovated in any area. It will be looked upon with fondness if it is a damn good game. UC2 is one of the greatest games of this gen and will always be looked upon that way.
