Just to clarify, since you didn't hear about it ... it was also all completely his fault. There is a giant red X on the map that is the correct spot to fish. It's super, super easy. But if you try it twice and fail, it actually just gives you the fish. You gain levels when fishing, and he's at level 1, fishing in a high level area. That's the only reason the meter goes down slow.
When people pointed this out to him in the comments, he didn't update the review at all.
You can even see the giant red X on the bottom right during the video. The fishing works completely fine. McElroy just literally couldn't follow a giant red X on his map because he wasn't even remotely paying attention.
Trust me, it's real. That's his review.
It's a stupid joke, but a joke nonetheless right? I mean, if it really is real why the hell do people even bother with this guy? How can a "journalist" get away with stuff like this?

Hell, I'd be willing to state that low-end websites are doing a better job of being journalist than "actual" websites. I had a dream about working for a huge website that's been around for years, but now I'm not so sure anymore.
I've been applying for tech websites that need some help in their video game departments, and that's about it. I couldn't take writing for Kotaku, or this shit.

I'm not seeing evolution. I just see re-branding. When it counted, he totally shit on the game. He had tons of time afterwards to correct his mistake, and never bothered.

I won't speak for her in any way. I'll just say that I was one of the people heavily criticizing their Kingdom Hearts 3D review in the comments. Among my complaints, zero mention of any of the production values in the game: graphics, soundtrack, voice acting and casting. Even the story only got one sentence in the review.
After seeing how much he deleted of her review, it makes a lot more sense.

Honestly I think they're mostly past it by now. On the reunion show they did with Comedy Button they seem to each have found a new niche, for better or worse. Better for them because they've found new career paths they're happy with and worse for us because we've lost frequent access to their insight and wit.
