WTF? My post got removed for having personal information. My post simply was:
"Being new to this series has left me pleasantly surprised! Much more DiddyKongRacing than MarioKart."
How the hell did that get flagged?

Has anyone else gotten an invalid disk error ?
I had one yesterday with Black Ops 2 and 2 tonight
with Black Ops 2 and Zombie U.
Both games play fine after ejecting the disk and reinserting it.
Hmmm gonna keep an eye on this - hope I dont have to return it
or send it in to Nintendo.

So I played around with this tonight and I think I may be onto something.
Before I was powering up the system and popping the game disks in as soon
as the power light turned blue - then when the dashboard came I could usually see the
game icon but three times when I clicked it I got the invalid disk error. I think one time
the game icon never showed up on boot at all just the error message.
Reinserting the disk always solved the issue and the games played fine.

Tonight ten times each with Black Ops 2 and Zombie U I did the following:
Power up system, wait for the drive to check if a game disk is present (listen for the
drives motor and wait for it to stop) and then insert the game disk.
Each time the game icon showed up when the dashboard booted and the games booted each time when clicked. I shut down the Wii U between each test.

I wonder if inserting a disk right after power up before the drive finishes powering up completely can cause the drive to error ?

I also changed my profile to log me in automatically whereas before I had select my mii and enter my password - probably has nothing to
do with the error but as buggy as this os seems to be atm who knows.

I will keep an eye on this and keep my fingers crossed.

So, my dilemma:

People say that Trine 2 feel loose in control, I've played Mighty Switch Force, don't really want Nano Assault, hear Darksiders II is terrible (rule of three), seen AC3, Mass Effect 3 and Batman played through, Scribblenauts reviews have me wary (puzzles force you to think like the developer instead of being creative), and I've never been big on fighting games.

What do I even do? Wait (hah) for LEGO City Stories?

I would definitely recommend Nano Assault, but you don't want it? D:

See if my OT helps! http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=44645677#post44645677

Beyond that, Trine 2 is fantastic. A really beautiful adventure that you can play with friends.

If you're looking for retail titles, the only things I can recommend are Mario and ZombiU. They are both fantastic.

Someone I know got messages removed for writing about how enemies in NSMBU are a pain in the butt.

They seem trigger happy to moderate just about anything lol.

They should disable offensive moderation If you have no parental controls activated, or maybe even a opt in option that will not remove offensive posts. But also an extra exception/checkbox for dongs. For others with active parental controls the post would be removed

Well, Nano Assault seems a bit short for my tastes.

And I've never been a big Mario fan, so I haven't played much Mario games (I'm terrible!)

And I don't enjoy first-person shooters (that much).

How long is Trine 2, anyways?

Well, the point of Nano Assault is to repeat it a lot for high scores. It's about a 3 hour game, plus the extra modes. It's arcady enough to warrant multiple plays, though.

Trine 2 on the PC took me, I think... 8-10 hours? I'm not sure how much more content the Director's Cut adds, but I would guess no more than a 12 hour adventure tops.

As for the rest of your dilemma, I don't think you should forget titles like Sonic:ASRT, as it is only 40 dollars for a complete package. Tekken is 55 dollars on the e-shop with some cool new modes that I hear a lot of people like on MiiVerse. Other than that, I would recommend ZombiU if you are into survivor horror and don't worry that it's first person, because it's hardly a traditional shooter. However, if that is a turn-off, then yeah... don't give it attention.

I think if you're having a hard time finding something to play, that's depressing, because to me there is a lot of diversity here! :(

This error has happened to me as well on a couple occasions, using the same repro steps. Pro tip: dont put the disc in when the system is powering on.

Holy crap. I can watch YouTube on the TV through the browser and still surf and change tabs.

How was this not shared more?

The YouTube app is sub par if I can do this in the browser.

Thank you! I think that I may try a Trine 2/Sonic: ARST combination.

And I may check out Tekken, though many fighting games get boring quickly due to a lack of friends to play with :( Though maybe GAF would help with that. And hey, no friend codes! Hell, I will check it out, thank you!

Plus, you can close the Youtube tab and let the video continue playing. I imagine that will allow you to get back all six tabs. You'd have to go back to Youtube to switch videos after that one ends, but still.

Heh, there's really nothing coming for the Wii U until March (Rayman + MH).

Hope Nintendo has some surprises in store, especially digital

What are my chances on scoring a black Wii U if I'm only arriving States-side on 23rd? Where should I try my luck in LA? Or am I worrying myself too much? Or not enough? Or am I screwed?

Yup. I think everyone was talking about it on launch day. So good to watch HD Youtube on the big screen and browse the web on the Game Pad without a hitch at all. So impressive tbh.

We do not have a release date for a few of WiiU's 'launch window' games. Like we have no clue when Wonderful 101 and Pikiman are suppose to come out. They could be delayed passed March, but we have no clue. We only know Rayman's date since Nintendo and Ubisoft are pushing that game hard and Monster Hunter being Monster Hunter.

I'm not as bothered by the four month wait for Monster Hunter (the game that sold me on the console) because this has been an oddly strong launch for me personally. I've never been interested in five games at a console launch (I was interested in 0 in the case of the 3DS).

Still, I hope Intelligent Systems shows up on the E-Shop with something as amazing as Pushmo soon.

Well, we have Cloudberry Kingdom, Mutant Mudds Deluxe, Toki Tori 2, Bit.Trip Runner 2, and The Pinball Arcade all coming for e-shop in the coming months. Lego City is coming this Holiday, The Wonderful 101 coming sometime before March, and Aliens is coming in February.

Thank you! I think that I may try a Trine 2/Sonic: ARST combination.

Happy to help! I was worried you weren't going to find something that interests you. Also, GAF will help with finding friends on Wii U! :P

Same here. I have 6 games for the Wii U currently and have LEGO City Undercover reserved for when it comes out. Reggie says there's more coming in the "launch window" that we don't know about so I hope it's nothing I'd be interested in. My poor wallet is crying. Not to mention the cost to get the Wii U shipped from the States...

After launch window does have me concern. Nintendo have a habit of going through some pretty bad dry spells after the holidays. If I recall, the after the holidays of Wii's games were pretty terrible. Although, I didn't mind since Twilight Princess was all the game I needed for three months.

That is exactly why they only launched with 3 games, one if which, sing party, wasn't even internally developed.

They have pikmin, wonderful 101, and Lego land for each month until April. Iwata specifically said multiple times that they want to avoid that drought which is why they only had 2 'real' games at launch.

We literally know nothing about the rest of 2012 as per nintendo's usual 6 or so ish announcement to release schedule.

For post-launch window, I'm totally expecting Pikmin 3 to get pushed into Q2.

Injustice in April, Lost Planet 3 in May. Probably a ton more ports coming too.

Bayo 2 next October?

Don't get me wrong, I do agree, but Nintendo has made this promise before. It usually happens, however, because they depended on third-parites to fill the after holiday gaps. It never works out for them.

Idk, I'd normally agree on Pikmin, but I think it was only pushed back to prevent a drought. As for Betrayalnetta, I think any date from late next year to well into 2014 could happen. It depends on how much progress was made before it went to the grave.

EDIT: Also, Takemoto's NNID is NintendoMasarioA if anyone wants to follow him. I wonder who else we could find considering all the admins have the same ID layout.

Lego City is almost definitely coming before the end to year, I would imagine. They already have commercials out for it, and there's a Chase McCain Lego figurine preorder bonus at Best Buy already. I expect that will be Nintendo's December game. Do we have any official dates for anything coming out in December or is it an empty month for right now?

Lego City is coming this Holiday,
it is? I mean considering theres a commercial of it on Nintendo's youtube I figured it would be the next "1st party" game but this year? If it was this year, surely we would know a date right...? Would be cool, think this is another game I might get.

The display at my store shows Mario, Nintendoland, and a coming soon for Lego City, so I have hope its coming soon.

No way is LEGO City Undercover out before Christmas. No way. No point releasing it so late when they could just wait a month or two.

WTF? My post got removed for having personal information. My post simply was:

How the hell did that get flagged?

I have a feeling the mods are removing any and all posts that get flagged, regardless. You probably upset some Mario fan for daring to compare it to Sonic. Or the reverse. Miiverse will get real old real fast if we can't hold actual conversations about games.

Nah. A part of me wishes I wasn't such a sucker, because I do honestly believe Nintendo is unfathomably stupid and cruel to customers when it comes to certain things. And I do believe they're so outdated and out of touch with the market that it drives me insane. And I don't have complete faith in the Wii U being much more than Wii 2.0. But they're still one of the best software developers in the world, in my opinion, and I haven't skipped a system of theirs for that reason. I like video games and they make outstanding video games, therefore I must have their systems.

I had always intended to get a Wii U at launch in Australia, and I was one of the first to put in a pre-order at my usual store. The only major factor that I knew would turn me away would have been an outrageous local price. Like, AU$500 for Premium. Then I would have told Nintendo to go fuck themselves. But I'm happy with the price as it is, need a new toy, and know I'll be getting one eventually. Sooo...Wii U at launch it is!

I knew you yanks would be good for something ;).

You're the reason hey keep fucking us over :(

I'm the same.

I really do think it's a unique relationship we have with Nintendo. I just wish they'd stop punching me.

Nintendo's definition of "launch window" is Nov 18, 2012 - March 31, 2013.

Agreed. I'm glad I waited and picked this up on Wii U.
I know the dates, that's why I said it, It's so vague people have no idea when to expect LegoCS, it could come out next month, or it could come out on Jan-Feb next year as far as we know.

So GAF, what's the best 3rd party game (not including ZU) so far? I want to pick up one of those.

Can you put a disc in the drive to turn it on? Does that work or cause the same issues?

If there was no "launch window" to throw around they would be saying Q1. Please tell me the big difference.

Q1 = Jan - Mar
Launch Window = Nov - March

If they dated the game as Q1 people would at least get a confirmation of it being a 2013 title but right now nobody knows for sure.
