RAGE: The Scorchers DLC arrives next week

Holy crap, bought DLC, loaded up old save which was right near the end, completed the game, it said congrats yada yada now you can carry on in the wasteland. Went to Coffer to sell some shit ..... available to purchase was the Large Mutant playing card i completely missed and though id never be able to get again. It cost $1000 but i now have the 100% achievement and all cards in 1 playthrough.

Now to actually play the DLC :P

(PC btw, no problems loading up my saves on this. I thought this did do cloud saves too ? It always syncs when i quit the game.)

Yep,I re installed my disc and the saves where right there on Steam...also the the DLC is right there on the main menu to choose from right from the start,if you played it before I guess...did the first mission with the loadout suggested, ran out of ammo near the end but the good old Boomerang saved the day....I counted 8 missions plus some are locked at the end...unless some of those where there before? Bash TV etc etc...

In most/all of the Rage missions, you went into a map, then later came back and went into it backwards or whatever for a sidequest

Do these maps work the same way? Is it 3 maps repeated twice each, or 6 maps once each, or 6 maps more than once each?

I think its 3 repeated twice each but with a different path ot objectives from what I saw...

Just tested it out, not sure if my old local saves were still intact for the game to recognize, but no saves were picked up. That said, in the mission selector, everything up to the final mission was available. A few unselectable ones including the scorcher stuff which I'm guessing I still have to manually access ingame before you can choose em

Oh man. So, I've wrote about how I lost my save file, have had to restart from the beginning, and so on. The new mission selector though, it remembers that I've finished the game before. Not sure where it's pulling that info from, but all the missions are unlocked except for the dlc missions that I just have to boot the game up and visit to unlock. Fuck yes. So along with the dlc I can access every mission again...sans driving. Amazing.

3 maps 2x is disappointing :(

Is the mission selector dlc only, or patched into Rage base now?

Let me check man,I never did the missions like I see in the selector right now but I am pretty sure its a new section on the main menu, but like Jediyoshi said,I also had some that had a big X on them...so are those the new ones?...the one I did was really short and to the left of what Jedi showed in the pick...my game is in French but they are called Scepters? so it,s not Scorchers? I though Sceptre was French for Scorchers lol...I will check for sure in a few minutes(I will put the game in English).

Okay forget what I said before, when I got back in the game just now,I got the message about the Scorchers and they tell you to go to Hagar's place...I will have to load an earlier save because the one I am at now was just before the end part, that I am sure I did but somehow it didnt save after the credits or something, and I have 2 buggys shooting at me and I am on foot and can't recall how to get a buggy myself or anything,it's been so long lol...

The mission selector has 26 little red dots and the last 5 I can't access yet so I am guessing those are the new Scorchers mission

Loving everything I'm hearing now that the DLC has proliferated a bit more! Can't wait to play, hope they make more! Shocked we even got this one!

I just finished the first mission. Met
Sarah
. I'm really not sure how these girls manage to maintain their looks post apocolypse, but I do not mind it one bit.

Really hope this works for me too. My savegame is gone but the trophies are still there so I guess it could be pulling the info from the same place. That mission selector feature came out of nowhere yet it might be one of best things of this DLC.

Really liking how it is integrated into the game so far. The first new mission is very early, I did it after I did the first mission and sewer but it may have been open first. After doing another longer one the game tells me to get to wellspring for more. The new weapon is pretty awesome and comes with 3 very unique ammo types right away. The first mission did kill off before I came back a bit more prepared with a shotgun. Ultra Nightmare still has the defib so I am not sure what is different there.

You can do this with the new weapon

Doing the Blue line mission the boss scenario may have been a bit different, or the loadout just made it take a lot longer. It has been a long time since I did it. Great feature though, would be great if it also had the scoring mode from coop.

if you open your inventory you can use the radio item to get a tow if your buggy is destroyed, that will probably get you back to town alive from a stuck game.

Hmmm, I think I might pick this up. Really enjoyed playing through the (very short) SP portion of the game when it came out on PC originally. Thought the setting was fantastic.

hey guys. Jumped back into this game but I'm getting a lot of texture pops and stuttering. I have an HD 7850 and was wondering if any of you could recommend some video configurations either in the Catalyst control center or the game itself.

Firstly, update to the latest drivers, and if you're forcing AA/AF/etc. via CCC, disable these options since they can do more harm than good in certain games. Secondly, set the texture cache setting in the game to "large", and finally, take note of the final section of the OP here (marked "Blurry Textures and Texture Popping".)

cool thanks for the tips, it helped a bit. I had to turn everything way down. I just thought with my card (HD 7850 2GB) I'd be able to run this game at max settings. It wouldn't let me use the GPU transcode. Is that just an Nvidia thing because I've got an i7 processor?

Yeah, GPU transcoding uses CUDA cores, which are only present on nvidia's G80 cards (i.e. 8800 series) and later.

So the concensus for this DLC is that it's pretty good and worth the 400 MSP right? I haven't finished Rage; I stopped maybe 1/4 of the way through because of other games I was playing at the time.

I'm still one of id's bitches. I never thought I'd say this but... "I can't wait to get back to playing RAGE this weekend."

Weird.

Don't feel weird. I've been id's bitch since '94. Ordered a copy off Amazon yesterday and get it tomorrow. Can't fucking wait! It'll be such a great change of pace from Far Cry 3.

The scenario missions kind of suck. Thier load outs kind of make you conserve your ammo. I was running the last 6-7 minutes just to get out because I ran out of ammo and there's no way to get more. I wish they let you use your ammo from the saved game.

Great DLC otherwise. The final boss was a lot of fun. Game still looks amazing, best of this generation (on console).

Also I noticed that I never got my DLC from the purchase of a new copy. I plugged in the Sewer mission code, but best I can come with how to access them (from google) is to get them from the job wall. Is that the only way?

I would easily buy another DLC even if it sent you into the same areas with new missions or new weapons.

For the sewers, after the first mission there's one near where you wake up at the beginning of the game. Old dude will tell you about them, then you can go down. I can't remember if I got any off the job board, I just remember finding them randomly. Hope that helps/doesn't make things worse haha.

Pretty meh DLC imho. The mutant enemies are the most uninteresting, boring of all of them to play because they just run right at you and that's what you mostly fight. Not even the incredible level design that was in the regular game is in here.

Plus, NO MORE FELTRITE. Fuck. If I want the platinum I'll have to play a 3rd time. I am 12 pieces (which I guess means I need to find 6 since each gives you two) short of that side mission from that guy in the bar to get the 100% completion trophy. Worst part is I did that mission on my first Nightmare playthrough, just completely forgot in this last one :(

Only 2 of the sewers give you feltrite, yes? Dammit.

I enjoyed the one I did, did you pick the loadout that gives you items in exchange for little ammo? COOP had ammo balanced really well when the game came out.

You have to do all 6 arenas in Bash TV to keep on going in the Scorchers story line?...got to the 5th one and died and it started me at the beginning, kinda hard(and I am playing on normal, how the hell do people do this on the new nightmare difficulty is beyond me) but I think there is something wrong with the 360 controller...I played the whole game last year with a controller and had no problem but it seems so floaty and off right now, might bring the sensitivity on the horizontal all the way down...otherwise maybe I will try this with mouse and keyboard to see...

did you start a new game? On Ultra Nightmare I am finding myself really lacking in ammo for that section when I started it asap. Given that the game then through enemies into the area that appeared in the city section I think I should have a few upgrades or at least enough ammo to use the guns I want in each situation.

Nah,it's not the mission selector thing,it's the Scorchers story with Sara and all, after the refinery,so yeah I have all my weapons and bandages and turrets and all...guess I will manually save after each section...

It's really short but for 5 bucks its not really hard to justify. I mean with this dlc Rage kind of feels like the full game it should have been. I could see them cutting this stuff for future dlc and finally getting it out to complete the game. The mission selector and trophy room are a welcome addition to rage, a flawed and mediocre but not as bad as everyone says, shooter.

Good DLC. Longer than I expected for $5 too. I was looking to get back into the game and this was the perfect slice to revisit it with.

I just started a new game (was planning to replay it soon anyways) and got through the first 2 DLC levels. I really enjoyed them. Can you re-enter the areas? There was a room in the second one that required a grinder and it really bugged me not having the grinders unlocked yet.

everything about her was, at the end of the DLC she sits in a trophy room saying shit like "does this make me look fat?" what the actual fuck?

For real, I dont think hips are supposed to work like that, she is practically gyrating in that first cutscene

I did the first two levels but so far its meh at best. Both were very short, didnt have you fight more than a few enemies at a time and they still make you drive around for no good reason

edit: ok lol, this pandering is hilarious, its just sad really. Looks like they spent more time modelling her ass spilling out of the short shorts and sideboob than they did on the levels

I don't think you can, perhaps once you finish the overall quest line, but I just left that area and it's red x'ing me out. If it helps, all there was in the room:
regular and killburst pistol round, a gas can, and a hardware packet
but that probably won't help your inner collector haha. (I guess you could go back in with the mission selector, but I don't know how it looks at that and your save file, probably as separate things)

This is great, I'm having a blast. It's just more Rage, but I like the new gun and it's various ammos. At first I was just like, oh this is an smg, but the alt stuff really makes it totally versatile, it's going to be fun having it handy for the rest of the new play through. I wonder if enemies will drop ammo for it. I like the big fireball guys too, they're fun to fight.

Too late haha, I just reloaded a save before it and got the door grinders quest so I have one. I enjoyed the mission so I don't mind replaying.

it's interesting that the DLC levels get threaded throughout the single player. I'm playing them in an end game scenario, so I've been doing them one after another. I was happy to see new minigames and locations in Wellmaster. I've done (I think) about half of it. Got through the new Mutant Bash easily enough. The only problem I ran into with the end game is that I'd literally spent every single penny I had before going on that last mission because I knew it was point of no return.

I had to very carefully drive my car to the DLC mission because I had no money to repair it. I'm pretty set now though after a few missions.

The new missions are good, I just wish they'd changed things to reflect that you've 'finished' the game. Instead it's just all exactly the same as walking around before doing that last mission.

I got a lot if stuttering from my core i7 930. I had to increase my QPI voltage a little bit.

That took me from horrible framerates to rock solid 60fps.

So this game doesn't have cloud saves right?

How does the DLC work if you don't have a save already? I changed HDD since I played through the game and I really doubt I still have my saves around.

So is the DLC worth your bucks? Is there enough content to justify 400 MSP?

For sure, it's ridiculously cheap for a nice set of missions, and given that I'm starting from the beginning of the game again, a new gun that actually has a bunch of cool functions to take with you through the whole game. Works as an smg, a rod type spear gun type thing and
the top ammo type lets you see through walls and vapourise your target haha
. I would totally recommend it. I mean I got the game off Amazon at the beginning of the year for £8 brand new, and this was £4, so as an investment right now, the whole game has paid off several times over.

I guess the only caveat is, it's more rage. If you didn't like the game before, I highly doubt there is anything here that would change your mind. The missions pop up in different places so driving etc will still be required.

Hahah, sorry reply took so long, I bought it as soon as it went up, but I didn't really get to sit down to it until today, busy time of year haha.

Urghhh I forgot you're supposed to save everything yourself. Just lost 40 minutes of progress dying right at the end of the prison break..
