Kotaku Rumor: Microsoft 6 months behind in game production for X720 [Pastebin = Ban]

It wouldn't surprise me out Sony was a little further along. They were able to reveal sooner after all, and have already spilled the beans on most of their specs.

It's not surprising that this little blurb in the bottom of a much larger story about Respawn, turned into a bigger thread on gaf.

Well, given that The Verge leaks out Microsoft's entire product line-up, we already know a fair share of their first party launch line-up: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=538344

Hm, so...

Ryse
Zombie 720
All in the Family
Forza 5 (or PGR5)
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Assassin's Creed IV
Watch Dogs
Battlefield 4
Annual sports title port 1
Annual sports title port 2
New NFS?

Looks like a solid line-up so far if true, but again, mostly third party dependent

people often forget Frontier when it comes to Kinect even though they have a hand in most of that peripherals output.

Just sounds like youre trying to shit on a parade because the positivity irks you. Low framerate in early development for a new console is like... how its always been.

how big actually are frontier though? i'd imagine most of their time and effort is on elite 4 at the moment

Shinobi I like your posts so no hard feelings I just hate how Kotaku promotes itself.
If it brings them success I guess thats all that matters.

Durango is such a shit name. I can't wait till they reveal the final xbox name and we can forget about this stupid name.

So a précis of the thread so far:
In asides:

EDIT: jstevenson smacks down the Insomniac rumor.
there has been absolutely no "falling out" with Sony.

We are on great terms with them, as illustrated by us working on the Ratchet movie recently. We have had decade plus long relationships with the same people in their product development department and we enjoy working with those folks.

I think they moved more to iOS output but they have big hiring push on their site atm...

Currently working on a kickstarter:

Still think whatever Rare will be tied to the family and Kinect side of MS; maybe there will be some more 'game' type content though.

How big does Microsoft need them to be. MS just "buys" game developments wholesale. All those Kinect games were just MS throwing money at developers to support the damn thing.

Its pretty refreshing to hear they're actually reaping some shit-times after they killed off so many talented studios when they were short-sightedly "done" with them. But then they'll buy some exclusives which will sell and lessons won't have been learned.

I would be surprised if the PS4 is not running into some problems with a 1.84TFLOP GPU and 8GB GDDR5...

Sony started earlier, has some of the best hardware engineers in the industry, and is making a larger box. They haven't shown you the box as of yet.

I dunno man, i know this is possible but MS having hardware problems AGAIN even after all that.... Youd think theyd hire experts or something after the first debacle. Even i have a lot of trouble believing that.
You would definitely hope they had experts working on the 360 too it not like they just throw this shit together in 10 minutes lol. Deadlines are a bitch, I work in software for a hardware company (we are very small) and we have on occasion put out dodgy stuff and fixed it in the field. It wouldn't surprise me too much if they did rush it out for the Christmas season come what may.

I share your sentiment though they really should learn from it it cost them a shit ton of money last time. Still even Thuway said it was fairly old info so it could be all good by now, who knows ;)

That is true. But dev kits were running with smaller amounts of GDDR5 at first. I'm very curious to see the final result.

And most if not all of those 3rd party titles appear to be cross gen. Not amazingly compelling.

E3 meltdowns will be epic.
Its a shame GAF servers will not be operational during pressconfs. GAF was 99% dead during PSMeeting...

wow, the paranoia is strong with some people :p I don't know why i would have a specific agenda to "shit on the positive ps4 parade". 1) The info given isn't "shitting" 2) We are talking about a next-gen system being late so it's ideal to also talk about the other one 3) I liked Playstation 4 "marcom" and hype building as anyone else, but it shouldn't prevent us to keep a cool head and say it if we happen to hear not as positive things on it.

Wow all these new insiders have suddenly come out of the woodwork! Didn't know there were so many on GAF.

How hard is it to make an xbox game? Cant they just make it a pc game, and port it over to the windows 8 box os or whatever the new rumor is? Its looking more and more like im going to skip ms completely this time around. At the very least , until they announce next next gen and i can get it sub 150 bucks

The 360 was the same way. Only first party standout was PDZ.

What about the power requirements of 32MB EDRAM? The GDDR5, despite being power hungry, resides on the motherboard and not on the processor die so its heat is easier to dissipate.

well the wii u has 34mb of edram and the whole system uses about as much power as a couple of energy saving ligtbulbs

Cross-gen games don't push units.

Internal Power supply in every PS3 model even in the ultra slim says a lot of what kind of engineers has each company.
