I still laugh at all the Battlefield 4/EA Sports exclusive talk prior to the Xbone reveal.
For the most part, I think any 3rd party exclusives will either be new IPs or relatively niche franchises like Dead Rising.

I think after some of Insomniac made comments about how they liked Microsoft and their new console people speculated they probably were going to have an exclusive game for them.

I'm thinking the opposite. Shareholders don't want MS bleeding billions on Xbox and if they are spending $400 million on NFL, millions on the new XBL infrastructure and a billion on first party development I'm not sure how much of their allowance is left to moneyhat random third parties for anything other than exclusive DLC, timed exclusive deals, etc.
Saying that though, I'm sure they managed to nab a couple surprises.

as for whether it gells with going multiplatform, it's only one game, not their entire freedom. besides first party might be the only place willing to give them money to do a concept they like a lot.

resistance 3 was pretty good, crack in time was amazing. they're a reliable member of the playstation family with roots from the very start. i want them on ps4

this generation has been a riot so far.
activision, wanting destiny to be their next biggest thing, would make it a 360 and x1 exclusive and forget the ps3 and ps4. the destiny unveil was even a microsoft plan to foil sony.
EA, being in bed with microsoft, would ditch their strongest platform for fifa in favor of the x1, making fifa 14 an exclusive. bf, a franchise which was previously associated itself more with playstation, would also be x1 exclusive.
now witcher 3, which has already been confirmed for the ps4, is going to be a x1 exclusive as some folks keep saying.
i guess now it's turn for people to speculate about bethesda, as if they haven't done exclusive content deals with microsoft before.
then again, this only happens because most people don't know who the more reliable posters are.
you already said it yourself, you'll get exclusives (timed or not) for new ip's or small franchises. 95% of everything else (with the usual odd ones) will be a "exclusive content" type of deal, on both sides.
They are usually between 1,5 and 2 hours long.
I'm a bit late here but this works. Two years back (my last trip to E3), I brought my E3 coverage partner, who wasn't registered, and they just gave him a badge and let him right in.
