I don't know why you'd go for Broadwell and not just wait for Skylake. The tocks are bigger than the ticks.

Just like Haswell, amirite?

Alternative answer: We could play the "Go with the next architecture" game until the end of time. Broadwell is when I want to upgrade. I'm tired of only having 1680x1050 resolution on my laptop, and I really dislike the weight. The extra year of waiting isn't worth it for me.

Lol I wish I had a 1680x1050 monitor, I have a late 2011 MBP (the one right after yours) and i'm still rocking a 1440x900 monitor...
I can't wait for these 3-4 years to pass (my usual life span for macbooks) so i can pick an awesome rMBP with ultra awesome integrated graphics and giga awesome screens

I will say "decent to good integrated graphics." Ultra awesome and integrated graphics might be pushing it until maybe a 7nm process.

Uh last year 'everyone' said Haswell was going to be awesome. That hasn't even arrived and the waiting for Broadwell has already begun. The CPU hypetrain never ends. Sandy Bridge has been good enough for my personal needs; I'd rather upgrade to 16GB of RAM than get a new processor. I assumed that by now I'd have the option for external graphics cards via thunderbolt connectors but still relying on Apple and using integrated graphics...
This wouldn't work? http://www.sonnettech.com/product/echoexpresschassis.html

edit - Ah, looking into it a bit more, it's more for expansion and I don't see much use for gaming GPUs..

Come on, Apple. Integrate it into the Music app and I can delete Pandora.... as long as it's enough like Pandora. Just give me an '80s Pop and '90s Pop station and the ability to merge them into one station and I'm there. Also, if you could convince the labels to let us skip songs indefinitely so I don't end up just turning it off instead of listening to a song I don't want to hear, it'd be amazing too. That clause is the dumbest part of those contracts.

Mingchi Kuo: Slimmer Retina Pros with Full HD cameras expected, MacBook Air to get dual-mic.

I look forward to seeing what they give us. Man, if they can get t 13" Retina down to the same weight as the Air (Right now it's about a pound heavier) it would be amazing. Then again, why even keep the Air around? Except for price I guess. I'd love a slimmer lighter 13" Retina.

How well does a dual-microphone work? Is it able to filter out background noise from a TV or something?

It's 0.61 pounds heavier than the 13" Air. But like 1.2 lbs heavier than 11" Air.
I imagine they'll decrease the weight on these things in tandem, sort of like how a lighter iPod Touch form-factor seems to always follow a lighter iPhone form-factor.

That small amount of weight actually makes a big difference. So the more they can trim, the better. Like the iPad mini. It's only a little over a half-pound lighter, but it feels like a lot.

I'm actually hoping for an MBA chassis redesign that's significantly lighter than the current models. Think there's a decent chance we see that at WWDC

Different points of view i guess for me already Haswell's Iris Pro is kinda of awesome, if in 3-4 years they can provide me twice the performance for half the consumption of Iris Pro i would be a very happy person.

Tim Cook said iOS 7 and the next OSX.

But they generally don't have announcements of announcements, or else what would be the point of announcements? The gaming industry does a lot of dumb bullshit that skews expectations of everything else.

Yup, and the only reason they mentioned iOS and OS X, rather than keeping them secret too, is so developers are prepared to get their teeth into them.

I believe the only confirmed topics are iOS 7 and new OSX.
These are the only two guarantees. Hardware updates are currently all speculation based on past experiences. (Supply shortages and rumors)

We'll find out in just over a week. I'm kind of excited. At least to see OS X and iOS 7. Hardware will be a nice bonus if it comes that day. I actually have money saved up. If there are significant hardware changes I might once again upgrade.

I don't want to set the bar too high right now. I think it will be good but Intel does have a habit of saying things are better than they actually are.

Nice. That'll also mean revamping the file system so that locally stored documents are no longer app-specific, I'm pretty certain; it won't make sense otherwise.

Fucking excellent, IMO. If AirDrop means a revamped file system so that there's just one copy of a given document instead of multiple copies (one per app), that's the biggest item on my iOS 7 wishlist right there.

Yeah, that new app looks quite flat... hmm..

My dev account still has 21 spaces and the other 79 will open up again on the 12th.

Ooh, nice. I've participating several years running (started doing it with iOS 4) and it's always an interesting and enjoyable process.

Getting Notification Center early (as much as it's a pain nowadays) was an utter joy, compared to how godawful notifications used to be.

I'll definitely do it again this year, already-poor iPhone 5 battery life be damned.

so basically no hardware leaks means no new hardware? I was kinda expecting a Macbook Air Retina

I know the timing is all kinds of wrong for iPad, but pretty much every big box store has deals on iPads right now. Historically, that is indicator #1 there is a refresh imminent.

Going through the schedule, there are definitely a lot of TBAs.

I'm thinking that new document handling and new iCloud functionality is a near-certainty, new ways for apps to talk to each other is fairly likely, and new Notification Center/Siri/widget/icon/whatever functionality is a distant possibility.

Only one more week until Apple makes us rethink what the word "flat" really means.

This will change everything we know about sans serif font use. All. Over. Again.

Honestly, though, ever since icloud syncing, I use reminder and notes a lot more and I can't wait till they stop looking like they do now and start looking like more respectable digital apps. Especially Reminders. goes for both Mac and iOS.

I doubt I'll get in on any developer access. It was worth it for iOS 5 but I'm content just seeing pics and videos till the fall when I can update on the device without having to use restore functionality.

The one feature I am hoping for, is better Siri. That's right, I for one like the premise of Siri. I use it to set my alarm pretty much every night. Just make it faster, smarter and maybe even in my language.

Restore really isn't that bad, IMO.
