I got grudge sucked!
There's no way this game will live up to the praise thats been heaped upon it, nor will it dserve fully the impending backlash. I'm just going to play it for what it is and decide how I feel about it when I'm done.

Phenomenal review by Sessler. Perfectly explained what he liked about it so much without giving any spoilers.

Also appreciated his discussion on the violence in the game.

I get the feeling the new Infamous isnt gonna score mostly 10's across the board. I mean, it's Infamous and its starring the lead singer of Hoobastank.

I could be wrong though.

They never have, but I've still loved the Infamous games more than most of the games that have scored above 90/100.

I'll still pick it up somewhere down the line then when the console hits $300, but I won't lie, if it does have incredible praise or if I realize I'm missing out on something big like some really big new features, I'll jump in early for next-gen. Otherwise I can wait.

Man, I'm so glad I wrote this game off when it was first announced. I expected it to be "Infamous good" but not this good. I know absolutely nothing about it, haven't even watched a single video. I'm gonna go in to it 100% cold. Haven't done that in many years.

Exciting!

Yeah, how dare people question the motives of a site that willingly accepted money from one of the primary organizations they're responsible for reporting on. They opened themselves up to all the criticism they get, and Gies certainly doesn't help matters with his attitude and odd secret sauce references that seem to be pretty much totally untrue.

Then why isn't everyone else also focused on the money that you can guarantee other sites take from these organizations they report on just as much? There's a freaking Sony advertisement on the IGN homepage for me right now. So naturally that 10/10 was paid for. DOWN WITH IGN! TRAITORS TRAITORS!

It's a shame. I bought UC3 and thoroughly enjoyed it, was it as good as UC2? I don't care, they are both great games. Backlashes like that are stupid and juvenile. In a way it's quite sad to see how "passionate" some people are over this so much so that they refuse to enjoy a title because.

all these hyperbolic review scores are disappointing for me. don't think I've really loved any of the mega-hyped games of this generation. GTA IV sucked, Arkham City... meh, COD has taken a nosedive this generation (series peaked with 2... and I ain't talking about MW2), etc.

really almost every single one is a high review score atoning for not necessarily jumping on the bandwagon for their predecessors as they should have. they review the hype, what they want the game to be, not what the game actually is. cautiously optimistic.

The stream was shut down but what I saw so far looked pretty good. One thing that really stood out for me was how heavy Joels punches look and sound. I think one hit like that would break my jaw! Game looks worthy of the praise it's been getting (so far).

Someone PM me what the intro is, I don't care about spoilers. I can't find any walkthrough videos which is odd.

My thoughts exactly.

Do we know whether Ellie is playable or not, now?

Why don't you play the game, then determine this? Or actually read/watch the reviews, like Sessler's, and then say they are all just hopping on a bandwagon?

Kind of an odd approach you got there.

It took me 18.5 hours which seems to be within an hour or so of most others.

Very good time for a game of this type. I have a feeling it'll take me around 20 hours to do it since I'm probably gonna go with Hard mode right off the bat for those limited resources and try to stealth kill as much as possible.

This image is a perfect representation of why it's hard to take game reviews seriously.

None of these games are worthy of near perfect ratings, I wouldn't even give any of them a 9, they all have issues that should stop them from getting perfect scores.

So much praise, I always had this gut feeling that this game would be something to truly remember. Naughty Dog have really matured into one of the finest studios out there. I really can't wait to play this game, and these responses just further justified my season pass purchase for this game, even though I would have bought it regardless for my love for Naughty Dog. :p

My god, all these 10's... Jim Sterling gave it a perfect score too?! And Patrick I-never-give-a-full-score Klepek?! To be honest I wasn't expecting so many full marks, impressive!

Loved listening to Sessler's impressions. Reading reviews from my favorite videogame writers is making this a pleasant morning. Looking forward to Angry Joe reviewing it as well.

Heheheh Polygon. Nothing's wrong with the score mind you, I have no problem believing it's an honest 7.5 from the reviewer, it's just that Polygon is a publication I (and apparently lots of gaffers) give so little clout since the Sim City scoring debacle and a collection of similarly dumb things, and they just had to give out (currently) the lowest score of a game people are frothing at the mouth for.

I can understand the temptation, but man, the thread's doing a great job so far keepin' it classy.

It's happening again. This is going to be one of the longest weeks I will experience as we get closer to The Last of Us' physical release.

like I said, disappointing for me. I'll play it and make my own judgements—but this is a review thread, so we're discussing the reviews. When I read shit like "the citizen kane moment for gaming" I can't help but be reminded of how much of a joke video game reviewing is. that's all.

That's just, like, your opinion, man.

The game hasn't come out yet, and you people want to hear spoilers of a section of the game that was made you to experience? What is wrong with you GAF?

Wow. Can't agree there. There are a few not worthy of that list but games like Bioshock Infinite, Uncharted 2, Portal 2, and Red Dead were some of the (if not the) best games of this generation. The Last of Us looks to fit as well.

This thread is amazing.

The hype, the hyperboles, the trolling, the meltdowns, the conspiracies (polygon and gamespot are Xbots and MS royalists? lol).

In short: Everything you could ask for from a review thread of a big game!

OT: Really looking forward to the game, the |OT|, and of course: to Derricks lttp thread when he returns in august(?)! ;)

BREAKING NEWS!

Game news site founded by former employees of known click whore Kotaku.com reviews a popular game and gives it a LOW SCORE!

I'm usually not a tinfoil hat wearing person but they gave Remember Me an 8 and this game a 7.5

I'm sorry but they're either click whoring, nerd baiting, or need to standardize their review process.

I kind of regret cancelling my pre-order for the Survival Edition.

I was going to simply pick it up later, but with all of this hype...I'll probably still end up buying it at release. ~_~

Oh well.

Well thats the only one I care about. Although I've noticed hes given really high scores to some games I disagree with (Killzone series) I have always loved reading his reviews and when he calls shit on some games he goes all out.

You're crazy if you think none of those games deserve 9's. UC 2 is an amazing game.

Truth. When people quote those lists and say, "None of those games belong!" I'm always left wondering what is is they do like. And what mysterious "zero issues" games they would put in their place.

The problem with game reviews is over-inflated scores. I'm not saying the games are bad, most of them are great, but when you give a game a perfect score or a 95 average, it needs to be near perfect.

And none of those games are near perfect
in my opinion

Take Bioshock Infinite, "10/10 OMG GAME OF THE GENERATION", I saw this shit all over the place and when I played it it was boring and the combat was average. Pretty, with a decent story for a video game, but it was tiresome to get through.
