Dead Rising 3 created "to go after the Call of Duty player"

Another franchise ruined chasing after CoD?

I think Titanfall will steal the CoD audience, honestly. They would have to really fuck up not to. The way I see it, Titanfall is the natural progression of CoD. All that's great about CoD and so much more.

Yep game looked like shit (gameplay wise) and hearing the devs open their mouth and act like they were doing the series favor pushed that notion even further.

Aint buying this at all thats for sure.

to sum up dead rising's 'goofiness' as 'silly clothing' show that the devs really miss the point of the franchise.

Well they did make two full Dead Rising games (and two smaller scale games) that turned out great but since Microsoft had a hand in funding this one then they probably asked for the silliness to be toned down so the mainstream crowd will perceive it as something more serious.

you miss the "other oddities" part?

The devs specifically talk to the exact point of this thread yet and assure fans its still like the old games yet everyone still questions them? They know how to make a Dead Rising game, they made Dead Rising 2.

Why the fuck does everything have to be like CoD? I'm so sick of these shitty business strategies this gen.

And these same motherfuckers have the audacity to blame used games as the root of their failures to make money. Ridiculous.

Stay in your lane, Publishers/Developers. Know your audience and market accordingly. STAY IN YOUR GOD DAMN LANE.

So, everything that I loved about the original DR, the game which killed my launch unit 360 from being played for hours and hours on end, is gone. Well, I wasn't going to get an Xboned anyways because of DRM, but it's nice to know I won't be missing anything.

They made it sound like that kind of stuff would be in there, but missable.

So there's a sliver of hope? I don't mind if it's in but missable, but so long as it's in and doesn't require the play to jump through crazy hoops to find it.

Did you notice the buffet in the E3 trailer? It had a giant sign reading "24 Hour, All-You-Can-Eat!", dangling above a sea of zombies. There was humor in the trailer, but it was subtler. I'm surprised more people didn't see it

Maybe DR3 will have a more subdued sense of humor. I would appreciate it, but it looks like other people might not.

I did miss this, thanks for pointing it out. I think a re-watch is definitely in order. Subdued humour can be good, but I'll the miss the more overt humour and tone of the previous games.

I know I mentioned this is the State of Decay thread but anyways...Dead Rising 3 with weapon crafting and coop from the second playing on hard mode with a timer. There's going to be less loading and a further improvement on the escorting when you switch zones. Hopefully there just isn't any loading at all. By the time I had played the game over and over I was already so used to travelling through zombies that I was able to enjoy the game with all of the goofiness. It was on replays that the mega man blaster became a reality and I was no longer worried about the timer so I'm not worried about them making hordes of zombies more dangerous than the clock in the corner. Dark Souls is also a game that rewarded players who played through sections multiple times to level up but did not have to rely on a timer so I'm not worried about whether they can make a challenging and rewarding game. Worst case scenario you turn on the clock and hard mode leaderboards will be the place to show off.

Good points, but I'm still wary that this game will offer the same kind of experience as past DR (especially 1), I would have preferred no timer be its own mode as opposed to the default mode, but I guess you can't have everything.

no psychos guys

asked at E3 and they said no psychos
aka one of the best parts of the series is now gone
this would never happen if irresponsible parents would stop buying their kids M rated games thus making the game so popular thus making idiot companys think COD players even give a damn about non COD games

Whelp, I let myself become ever so slightly interested again and this happens.

A damn shame they've removed yet another great aspect of the game. So that's the tone, the timer and now the psychos. I guess there's still weapon crafting and killing zeds.

...

Yup, seems they've stripped the game of its very soul.

Weird. Why not just create a new ip? A zombie launch title would probably sell well, regardless if it was a sequel or not.

Yeah that's the final nail in the coffin.

It really is. I'm damn depressed that psychos are confirmed to be out. I had a feeling they would, but held onto the smallest sliver of hope that maybe, just maybe, the developers wouldn't cut them.

Why do it? They could still fit into the new tone and direction of the game. It's the zombie apocalypse, people are going to lose their shit and go crazy, so why cut them? I just don't understand it the reasoning behind the decision.

My point is, the atmosphere of the original was purely beyond 'hurr he's wearing a dress'. On the surface, the story of the game of the game was fairly silly but was presented seriously. The key point of the silliness was the contrast of absurdity of the situations you found yourself in. It didn't matter if you were wearing a dress, or that you were fighting a demented cop, but the fact that throughout of this there was a constant contrast to the silly or serious factor. That was the real beauty of Dead Rising. That throughout the game the game could contrast the silliness/seriousness at random within the gameplay itself. Psychopaths are no longer amusing when you're seconds away from losing your next case fill. A serious situation of losing hours of play can be made silly when you encounter Japanese tourists who you can't even communicate with.

All of that is gone in Dead Rising 3. You can't contrast when the context is dark and gritty, you can't contrast within the gameplay because there's no timer or save system to create tension. You can't contrast the mundane zombies when you have no crazy living people against them. 'Silliness' in this game, while appealing to Call of Duty games, will be 'hurr he's wearing a dress. what a homo!'.

You guys are nuts judging the game by one 5 minute demo which was intended to show the scale of the game and jumping to conclusions.

When asked about psychos, the devs did not say no. They later mentioned that zombies bring out the worst in humanity. Take that for what you will. You have no source saying otherwise. Lol if you think some random users post on gamefaqs counts when the replies all asked for a source and none was given.

The timer is still in their for hardcore players along with the saving.

It's like you guys want this game to suck to justify not getting an xbone.

Um, please don't tar everyone with the same brush.

I love zed games, perhaps unhealthily so, and until very recently, Dead Rising was the best zed game available on the market, so to see it go from perhaps one of the most unique and interesting titles I've played in years to a dull and boring action game that's stripped away everything that made the earlier games unique is beyond heartbreaking.

I'll keep an open mind, but the news of no psychopaths, no timers unless you choose hardcore mode and the more subdued/toned down humour isn't exactly making it easy to be hyped or even interested in the game.

I mean let's just talk about the psychopaths for a moment. What possible reason could there be for cutting them? I can't think of a single one, yet here we hare...

I'm pretty sure Microsoft has given everyone plenty of reasons to justify not getting an xbone.

Nice post history, though.

Subtle.

LOL, nice post history you got there. Which division of marketing do you work under?

Yes yes it is without a doubt. Never would have known what he was without looking at it. lol

Anyway moving on removing most everything that made Dead Rising what it is means you're going to lose a ton of fans and we all know COD fanbase isn't going to bat an eye at this game. They'll be too busy playing COD.

Who says they did? I'm serious. There is not a single source that says they did.

And no I am not related to a videogame company. I rationalized why I am speaking out now in a previous post. Look it up if you care.

Edit: if a mod wants to verify my identity, pm me so we can get this bullshit out of the way

So...basically...this game is just a "run around in an open world and carve up zombies with no goal in mind" game they're selling for $60. Because it sounds like all the actual content and creativity from the previous installments has been dragged out behind the barn and shot.

I mean, have the people running this project even played Dead Rising? A terrible game director with no vision except "copy the biggest seller" seems like the only explanation for why all of this nonsense is even happening.

Gone is the cartoonish visual design, replaced by a more "realistic" interpretation of a viral apocalypse. That change is part of the maturation. By shifting the art style, the combat can be "more visceral" than in previous versions, with "real gore."
THERE IT IS!

To be fair, the psychos were funny/cool plotline stuff but awful gameplay. I guess they could have found a way to make them fun instead of nixxing them altogether though.

Dead Rising 3 is my most wanted next gen game so far. Its the evolution I wanted from the series after DR1.

True open world (no loading times) and better graphics/physics.

And another junior with a one-sided, short-lived pro XB1 post history pops up. You're telling us that you're posting like this without getting paid for it from a marketing firm?

Fuck, that might be even worse.

No Psychos?!? What's the point of the game then?
The maturation of the series with visceral action and epic gore, a dark and gritty tone depicting a realistic viral outbreak to capture the Call of Duty audience.

You know, Dead Rising!

Wait... you guys are trusting a random poster at GameFAQs for that information? Is there any other source that confirms No Psychos?

Yup and I'm sure everyone posting and reacting to total crap/assumptions without a source/facts to back them up is so much better of a poster. I prefer to be optimistic and rationale, something many of you could use.

Bingo!

Seems like I was right when I read they are catering more to the dudebro audience by adding a lot more guns to Dead Rising. Seriously, this is getting so annoying and frustrating. EVERYONE chasing after the COD audience is what is killing companies and the industry. This is one of the things wrong with gaming now. Can't you just let COD be COD. No psychos? IF that is official, they are not understanding one of the things that made Dead Rising stand out in the first place. It seems like so many people now hate any iota of creativity or uniqueness in their games.

I agree.
I liked the 'survival' element of the guy running through the neighborhood, climbing to roofs, breaking into houses via skylight, etc. There seemed to be a good sense of tension.

Too bad I won't be playing it, as I am passing on the X1. :(
Its called a vertical slice, many games shown on E3 do that. The actual game wont be that scripted and perfectly paced.

Bingo!

If a junior wanted to keep his head, they'd stay out of Xbone thread regardless of their leanings. Therefore these types of juniors are stupid, have a death wish or are being paid.

If you're doing this for free though, then lol
