Crayon Pop may be the hottest artist of the summer, but it looks like their IlBe controversy has yet to leave them completely.

The internet shopping mall 'Auction' recently recruited the girls to be the face of the site, but after the girls released their CF, the site has been experiencing a mass exodus of users.

The girls, after using various phrases used on the controversial site, and after their CEO pretty much admitted he was a registered member, have been called 'Ilbe-yon-pop'. After Crayon Pop released their CF, a torrent of complaints flooded the customer service board. The term 'Leaving Auction' started taking the top spots for search terms on portals, and a movement to stop using the site started up.

I suppose it was inevitable that this would rear its head again. There are also a couple of articles on Netizen Buzz in which some fairly poor attempts are made to accuse CP of plagiarizing Momoclo's concepts.

I made the MomoClo comparison when I first got into them - not because of any specific concepts or superficial similarities, but because it was one of the first k-pop groups I'd seen that was as much silly fun on stage. They're rookies, why not do something different, with character, make use of the fact that there's nothing to lose. That was great to see in k-pop. To claim they copied any particular element from MomoClo tho is madness. I think they were influenced by japanese indie idol groups in general.

Yeah, that was what I was getting at really. The influence is clearly there but to accuse them of plagiarism is a pretty massive exaggeration.

The online shopping site 'Auction' has removed all references of Crayon Pop on its website after running into significant backlash from users.

The web portal had signed the up-and-coming idols to an advertising deal, setting the five girls prominently on its website. However, users began abandoning the website in protest of Crayon Pop's supposed ties to IlBe, a controversial Korean web board long associated with fringe groups and radical politics.

"This action was taken due to the strong protests from our users," said a representative for Auction. "However, we can't say for certain that Crayon Pop has been definitively dropped from our advertisements."

"It is true for any company to pay attention to the situation when their advertising models bring forth cultural divisions," they said. "We are paying close attention to how the situation unfolds."
