Good first episode. Show has dragged a bit for the past couple seasons.

Rick still seems like a terrible leader. Group is ironically saved by the result of his terrible leadership in the past (exiling Carol).

What the fuck? Taking the prison was something nobody on that group would have even attempted, and even though things went to shit, they lived there relatively safe for some months.

It was a great episode and hopefully they'll be back on track and just wandering around. Tired of them staying at a 'settlement' or being separated for most of a season.

Last season seemed to drag on especially since they were split up, and seems like they made up for it last night in less than an hour.

This was by far their best season opener ever! I liked this episode even more than the legendary series premiere "Days Gone By". There was just so many intense, and emotional moments in this one, that it felt more like a season finale than a opener. It's gonna be interesting to see if they can keep up this level of awesomeness, for the entire season.....plus I seen MORGAN again! Hell Yeah!

People have expectations of this show that are insane. Very few shows in all of existence can maintain the awesomeness of a premier/finale for an entire season or the entire following season.

The cycle continues. If there is an episode where no one dies and no tons of explosions people will yell filler, lol. I just hope the rest of the season is engaging and interesting and suspenseful but also occasionally steps it up like this one.

I liked last season a lot, I think it provided breathing room for some much needed character development, and that all paid off in the premiere last night. I'm glad the group is back together because most of them are much more well-rounded individually than they were at the prison.

First post-credit scene in a TV show ever?

Agents of SHIELD had at least a couple last year, with a pretty big cameo in the first or second episode's post credit scene.

I liked this episode quite a bit. I gave up on the show about halfway through last season but my wife continued to watch it, I figured it was worth another shot for the season opener.
I'll stick around this season until it drags again, then I'll just get the highlights from her. Hopefully it stays good for a while.

Its one the most watched shows on television and at the same time AMC is all like "REDUCE THE BUDGET"

I'm pretty sure the budget has gone up every single season, and it has been evident. And if some of the budget is going to keeping such a big ensemble cast then I like it. I hate when actor's salaries are the reason a character is unceremoniously written off.

Technically the budget was increased but cost per episode dropped

Rumour has it that the first season was 3.4 million for 6 episodes then they dropped it to like 2.7 million for 13

+Graphic/gory. My friend had to look away from any further throat slashes and couldn't bear to watch when the knife was right up to Bob's eye.
+Well paced
+Carol aka Big Boss
+Cold Rick not sparing anyone
+The feels from the reunions
+Moving away from Terminus surprisingly after the first episode
+That end credit scene

-Glenn conveniently not getting batted upside the head
-Carol's firework launching aim
-Tying that guy's hands to the front instead of the back in the cabin
-When the group of Terminus folks starts gunning down zombies, there's that one guy in the very back from a distance away. It would make sense if he was covering their backs looking the opposite direction. He was probably shooting at everyone's back from the distance he was at.
-Guy on the ground not getting up and running away from the zombie in flames
-Tyrese

The negatives were slight contrivances that I can look past this time around and it doesn't outweigh how entertaining this season opener was. I hope they can keep up with it.

Fuck I wanted them to kill Glen or Bob. So sick of both of them, ESPECIALLY Glen who always looks like he is on the verge of crying. Cool episode though.

so is the girl with the cap into girls or is it the other one?

The one with the cap would be Rosita. She's with Abraham I believe. Tara is the one that is into women. Her girlfriend was the one that was killed by Mika, the younger sister of crazy Lizzie..

Side note, before the Morgan reveal, did anyone else think it might be (comic spoiler)
Jesus?

That would have been a better twist. (comic spoiler)
Jesus is a much more significant character than Morgan was, Morgan ended up being a major disappointment. His appearance was just a major shocker as a call back to the beginning. Though I have a feeling TV Morgan will be more important than comic Morgan seeing as how they got Lennie James to play him.

Obviously covering faces is never ideal for a TV show, but I've always wondered why more of them don't scavenge masks to carry for when they have to fight.

Or am I getting my zombie lore mixed up and Walking Dead ones can infect by having blood/gore drip into mouths and eyes?

That was fantastic. The opening slaughter scene was tense, but Glenn should've been swapped with another character. Swapped with someone who you'd believe could get killed. I thought Bob was going to die. Incidentally, there's a scene in the end where a zombie behind Rick looked exactly like Bob. Made me do a double take.

A lot happened in one episode, and I can appreciate they managed to squeeze in details about the people of Terminus and some info about Eugene's cure. Daryl also mentioned Beth.

I don't get why people are expecting
Negan
to show up now. It's wayyyy to early for that. The group still needs to get to
Alexandria
and there's enough content there to last a season and a half.
Negan
is not appearing until the end of sixth season at the earliest imo.

What a ridiculous episode, I loved it. Carol sneaking in like a boss and getting shit done was amazing. Girlfriend and I cracked up at Judith looking at Martin just before Tyrese slammed his ass down. One of those, "You know just fucked up, right?" looks. Rick taking no prisoners and then the heartfelt reunion. I'm glad this show is back on.
