The only problem I had was for all the build up for terminus and them ALL getting fooled and trapped, not one main character died. Could have been the perfect time to shock the audience and kill glenn. Instead we have 14 characters all walking together. Even LOST would say "wat"

I think it's fucking awesome that they're rolling so deep

I hope the group just keeps getting bigger and bigger steamrolling through sanctuary after sanctuary like some Katamari Damacy ball of people.

Then it ends with Rock & Co. sitting atop their world of fire and brimstone contemplating how they became exactly what they hated.

The virus is airborne, right? How does the cure solve that?

Well, when the guy explained it, the "cure" isn't actually a cure. He essentially said that he'd be able to target zombies specifically with some kind of biological weapon via a mass delivery system that would take them all out.

So, essentially they would remove the present zombie threat, though people would still presumably turn if they died (it wasn't entirely clear whether this would be a one off thing or whether the "anti zombie virus" would persist). At least that would make things more stable, perhaps to the point where order could be somewhat restored and perhaps a real cure is found.

So I stopped watching around the time the Governor was killed. I don't remember why, I just got bored.

My friend convinced me to start watching it with him, since it's the final season. Whats happened since then?

so what happens if someone is killed. That person turns, and shit hits the fan again.

It was bound to happen.

Seriously? The way I understood it he's got a cure, not just an anti-zombie flu up his sleeve. And in Washington lies the key to the delivery system to reach all americans or whoever it was desined for. Maybe I need to watch it again.

Have to say just caught up on the episode and they did an excellent job here. Reading through the thread from 9-10 pm premiere night is hilarious as always.

Pretty sure his cure is the "fight fire with fire" anti-zombie part and that he has no actual solution to curing the virus in a survivor.

Well, currently zombies appear to massively outnumber survivors, so wiping the slate clean would position the survivors much better to rebuild, because there wouldn't be the opportunity to be overwhelmed at any given location. They'd be more prepared and aware that people would turn on death so that is more easily managed, and even if there was an "outbreak" there isn't the population density any more for that to spread easily.

Ultimately, the virus would be more manageable and containable.

Better than the situation they are in now anyway.

That was probably the best TWD episode ever. Season could not have started any better than what they did last night. Honestly thought the terminus will be dragged on for at least half a season.

Carol.. You da real MVP.

Still most badass part of the episode was the simple 3 words:

let him turn

If I was wearing a sunglasses when that part happened I probably would have went like this

In this situation, assuming everyone turns when they die, they'll have to start up a system to ensure the brain is destroyed for everyone. Maybe large euthanasia centers, for when people are too sick/injured to recover, or maybe everyone has to do a daily "life check" to make sure no one secretly dies. Anyone missing, sets the town/state/country on a high alert, to either find the missing person (or find the walker and destroy it).

Could eventually make everyone wear a heart monitor, that sends out either a gps signal (or sets off an implanted explosive device), if someone's heart stops for a few hours.

Basically, constant, unending vigilance against unplanned/isolated death.

Or maybe just cure the disease, and give everyone a vaccine, where turning never happens again.

Yea, I think it's a combination of the slow season last year and the expectation that they'd be in Terminus quite some time made the premiere even better. It was an action-packed episode but having those low expectations going in there made it so much better when they easily surpassed them.

I'm sure a few Terminus characters will be present throughout the season but at least we've moved on from Terminus itself and we finally get to see them on the road for a change which should bring us some variety.

Soooo the "Then" scene in the rail car, when the dude said "It's not going to be ok"

Was that
Mother fucking shit ass fucking NEGAN?

Just jumped into the thread and it's too many pages to search if anyone else thought so.

Haven't read the comics outside of a few but I can answer that for you. Tagged just in case:
If you're talking about the tattooed man, it's the guy Rick and company let out of the train-car that was crazy. Robert Kirkman confirmed it wasn't Negan and they talked about him on the Talking Dead.

Unless you're talking about someone else.

No not that dude. The dude with the slicked back black hair and jean jacket + jeans that bitch slapped the little hipster dude while he comforted Mary.

Edit: Did some googling and I am

Ps edit: you should really read the comics. All out war still sits with me.

Oh, alright. I just remember reading Kirkman's tweet about that last night and figured you were talking about him since there's been articles about it.

On the other hand, if he was with the guys that took over Terminus, the same article mentioned how Negan was against rape in the comics as well so I don't know if that would be him but you never know. Only know a very little about him and can't speculate.

I wouldn't put it past them though. The fact that the hippie that ran into Carol and Rick before Carol departed was in this episode was really amazing. They do a good job with the continuity of it all.

Edit: I was conflicted on whether or not to read the comics now since going in blind with the show is kind of fun since I can speculate on a lot, similar to how I wanted to read Game of Thrones but stopped myself because I like trying to pick up on the show's hints. I don't know, I might make an exception with TWD. It's kind of funny how the ones I did read were contraband items in Basic Training medical hold that a few of us read late at night as our only real entertainment. Well, until someone got a PSP in there. :D

Yeah, it wasn't him. I saw a couple lightened pics of the scene. On my tv it was too dark to see the face tattoos in the boxcar.
In the comics
Negan wouldn't rape, but he didn't care if his guys did.

Edit: There is such a huge difference between the comic TWD and the show, you can read them and not be spoiled. They are two different universes now really.

Characters that I want to see dead this season:

Glenn
Carol
Carl
Michonne
Beth
Tara

And maybe the rest except for Rick, Abrahams, Eugene, Rosita, Maggie and Daryl. Everyone else it totally fucking lame (the people on my list) or just totally uninteresting.

mattiewheels

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Your list is ridicu!ous...but I got the sense that they were foreshadowing something with Glenn. The bat stuff at the beginning, and how he had to get pulled away because he overstayed his welcome with clubbing that zombie. I really think he's the next big loss.

I can't believe people would think that was
Negan
in the train car, it doesn't even make sense to introduce him this early.

A little lttp but that was one of the best season openers I have ever seen. Wasn't excited for this at all but damn, that episode.

Conan on Talking Dead was probably one of the best. "The first hipster in the apocalypse" joke was spot on and slayed me when I was rewatching the episode.

Any gifs of Carol badassery yet?

That walker did also have handcuffs on one hand

The camera immediately focused on the handcuffs which is why I think its an homage.

The comics are so different, you might as well read them.

Was that the first episode with a post-credits scene? Randomly caught it last night. I usually turn it off before the next week's preview comes on.

Ew.

I also wanted to mention how completely pointless that Terminus flashback scene was. I think we got when the lady explained in the first time, and from their crazy psycho room.

There's not enough ham for all the HAMFISTS of this show.

They could have replaced it with more microsoft surface ads instead.

Morgan you fools. He's been in two episodes, three including this one.

He's a great character.

Oh, that guy.

Hadn't he gone batshit insane by the time we met him again in season 3 though ?

So i guess that's the impending menace on the group now, i thought it was strange to have an episode ending with things all back to default, group reunited, everyone happy, no looming danger around the corner etc.

Yeah he was a tad crazy when they met him again in season 3 but he's looking better from that little glimpse of him in the tag.

He still looked crazy to me. I don't think the tag was supposed to instill a sense of serenity.

Kinda hard to tell from such a small appearance but for me he appeared more stable to me. Suppose we'll find out the answer eventually at some point this season.
Hopefully.
