007: Everything or Nothing - One of the greatest games on PS2/Gamecube

Fan art, awesomely lol worthy IMO

Edit: Original Covers

Someone mentioned in a discussion how one of last gen's gaming evolutions (PS360) was the Cover System with Gears... I pointed out that there were games that did it before gears, even in the Generation before (PS2/Gamecube). And 007: Everything or Nothing may not be the first game that actually did it in that generation either, but it was the first one that I personally remember doing it.

Then I just started thinking about the game in general, and how awesome it was... It was obvious how much of a labor of love it was for the developers. The game was a hell of a package.

The key features I remember are:

Awesome Production / All Star cast, that could have stood as a natural / great 007 Movie cast

Pierce Brosnan ... James Bond (voice)
Willem Dafoe ... Nikolai Diavolo (voice)
Judi Dench ... M (voice)
Richard Kiel ... Jaws (voice)
Heidi Klum ... Katya Nadanova (voice)
Shannon Elizabeth ... Serena St. Germaine (voice)
Mya ... Mya Starling (voice)
Misaki Itô ... Miss Nagai (voice)
John Cleese ... Q (voice)

Cover System - One of the first I remember. This is going pretty far back for me... so I may be very dead wrong. But I remember it being enjoyable. (Ok, I feel silly right now, but obviously Metal Gear did it before this. But whatever, this thread is more about the general game and not just the history of the cover system.)

Lock-On Targeting... but with a twist! Yes, you lock onto targets, but the cool thing that this game did, and no other game in memory replicated, is it still gave you a movable targeting reticule that you could move to do headshots, body, etc.

Several Vehicle sequences with Variety - I don't remember them all, but I remember some nice open driving through some city areas (not open world, but still a bit open) and some heavy artillery sequences.

And best of all...

The most awesome motorcycle sequence EVER!
Seriously, this moment in the game will always stick with me. The sense of speed was INSANE! Perfecting my score in this level was a treat!

It even had Multiplayer, which I recall enjoying for a brief period of time, but it didn't hold my attention very long.

Anyways, next time I fire up my PS2, it will definitely be to play this game!

I agree with everything, but Jesus could you have found a worse poster for the game? I mean, it's not even an official one lol.

Also the CO-Op was awesome in this game. Playing as random MI6 agents and crossing paths with Bond was so cool.

Man, I remember me and a buddy played the demo with the motorcycle sequence over and over. The speed, the sound effects, dem "Bond moments". SO GOOD!!!

at last, for christ's sake
indeed, one of the greatest games based on a movie that's never been done. It's just awesome, crazy production value too

that poster is really bad, tho. Original cover is much better

Hell yes! The best Bond game ever for me, at least at actually being a Bond game, if that makes sense. Sure, Goldeneye was a revolutionary shooter and an awesome game, but Everything or Nothing just had everything you'd want from a Bond game.

Getting bonus 'Bond points' for giving a woman a massage on one level was pretty great.

I remember putting a hell of a lot of time into the co-op stuff, too.

Criminally underrated. Once I saw that opening fight on the side of a building, I knew i was in for a treat.

It's also one of those games where, while it was great, if it had a little more polish it would've been godly.

It's always a shame when people are clamoring for a new goldeneye, when this was really the crown jewel of 007 games.

The best Bondgame out there. Yes, even better then Goldeneye.

Indeed. I would love to see a new Bond game return to this formula, and perhaps some of the concepts included within Bloodstone, but I guess it's up in the air as to what will happen with future Bond games given how Activision no longer has the publishing rights.

Only thing it was missing was a good competitive multiplayer mode. Otherwise, probably my favourite Bond game. Shame how the games that came after it were shit (Rogue Agent) and bland (From Russia With Love). Never played the Activison games.

No love for the Xbox? It was the best version of all.

Freakin' fantastic game.

My favorite 007 title to date.
Sorry, GoldenEye (N64).

Had so much fun with this game. The motorcycle level on the highway was one of the best vehicle sequences I've ever played. I could never get too far in co-op though because my friends and I were terrible at it.

One thing, though guess first-person is Metroid Prime 3 allows you to lock on while still freely targetting your enemies.

That said, hands down the best Bond game on the market. A fun and original story. Some inventive action pieces (more than him just shooting stuff) Cool use of some gadgets. Good cast. Sad that Dafoe's one turn as a Bond villain was in a game, but they made it work!

I loved it.

people cling to goldeneye as the best Bond game because of nostalgia. It's just a fps with a bond theme. This actually felt like a proper Brosnan era Bond film.

I wish it was BC on the 360 though..

I've been going through some of my old Gamecube backlog...finished Sunshine, and now almost done Paper Mario. Should I grab thus used for a few bucks off Amazon?

Which is the better ver. PS2 or Gamecube? Also William Dafoe in that poster instantly sold me on the game.

You guys got me interested in Nightfire so I looked it up. A little disappointing it is an FPS, but it looks to have gotten a very similar treatment. If I ever stumble upon it at a pawn shop, I'll nab it up!

I remember i enjoyed it

I remember my brother was deeply in love with this game

But wasnt it too linear? Like, even with the gadgets only one right way to finish a mission, etc?

Or am i remember it completely wrong?

PS2 was totally fine. Not sure about GCN.

It's still awesome. Some nice car sequences as well.

Absolutely loved this game. The soft lock-on targetting was very well done and played quite a bit of co-op with my wife on this one (she can't do FPS).

The single player was quite memorable, loved the "Bond Moments." Though I am a little partial since the game did partially take place in New Orleans and that is where I am from.

I was so addicted I did almost all of the challanges for each mission, burned out at the last couple levels though for the challange modes. I still remember the one level in the night club - the challenge where you couldn't fire any weapons for the duration of the mission...the first time I got through it didn't register because I let the cut scene play out where Bond fires his pistol...and those count against you :(.

Everything about the game was alot of fun, the firefights, the driving, scaling the walls with that grappling device. And as you mention OP, the motorcycle level on the Causeway over Lake Pontchartrain is certainly one of my favorite levels ever in any video game.
