No, that was 2010 360. It may have sold well to the casual Wii crowd but alienated their core base and they lost those casuals afterwards.Beginning of the dark days for Xbox

Series X is marked improvement in every possible way. It's the lack of software that's driving the poor cycle of the platform life, not the hardware that is at fault this go around.
It's the exact opposite problem that Xbox One faced out of the gate.
I was waiting for this one, excellent. Oh, forgot about the clip about letting friends borrow your games:
Phil was in the room, he was VP and the one who proclaimed $499
Don killed the platfrom. At least phil is giving it a mercy kill.
They just weren't system sellersI thought the Xbox One had a pretty good launch lineup. Ryse, Dead Rising 3, and Killer Instinct were all great IMO.![]()
To be fair, this is common for pre-release hardware to run on PCs.
If people believe Xbox One killed the brand by botching the concept and execution of Xbox One, then by that definition it has to be Mattrick's faultDon killed the platfrom. At least phil is giving it a mercy kill.
It all started hereIf people believe Xbox One killed the brand by botching the concept and execution of Xbox One, then by that definition it has to be Mattrick's fault
Phil came in just before launch and had a litany of things to fix, and just started going down the list.
Kill Kinect bundle mandate
Lower retail price
Add standard headphone jack into controller
Focus on big single player games
De-emphasize the Mattrick TV plan of all these Xbox TV series
Get rid of always-online mandate
Allow sharing of physical & digital games
Phase out the integrated cable box idea
Significantly shrink the size of the console
And on and on and on
A total disaster that Xbox is still reeling from more than a decade later.
It's not like MS or Phil are different. They just thought their rental box plan would be popular then instead of now.Don Mattrick can go suck an egg.
MS first dropped the ball toward 2nd half of 360 era when they killed off bun ch if their internal studios and focused on Kinect. That worked for a bit, but then casual audiences dried up and by the time Xbone released a lot of hardcore audiences didn't have much to look forward to besides Halo, Gears and Forza (and TV, TV, TV).A dark moment in the history of gaming..
And the true reason xbox is still struggling
Beat me to it lol.
A conversation between an entitled douchebag and a racist piece of shit.

It's extremely important because Xbox has never recovered from this day.
I partly agree with this sentiment, but it's unfair to put the entire blame on that one launch.Xbox Series X suffers because of the problems that Xbox One introduced. An entire lack of confidence in Xbox.
