Thanks so much OP! I'm super looking forward to this game
Thanks, I feel like I might annoy some people for making thread about this game, but I can't help it because I'm super hyped for this game.

I'm also on the hype train for this one. Really like Muramasa and Odin Sphere. This one seems to be quite different gameplay-wise but definitely want to try it

No worries! From an older article the game sold poorly. Even though it - did Vanillaware director George Kamitani confirmed the studio is currently developing its next game
I hope sales pick up in the western market because I love vanillaware's unique style and again i'm very looking forward to this game : )

While initial sales were low, positive word of mouth from both players and other industry figures caused sales to increase, resulting in stock shortages.

It will be a hard game to sell to western fans that most likely wanted a game similar to dragon's crown and not a mostly VN tower defense game. I hope people do buy it to fund future VW games even though I'm staying away from this one.

It is easy to sell your stock when you only make a small amount. :/

Well I personally enjoyed games like 999 and Catherine that combines VN with puzzles games, so as huge fan of games like Odin Sphere, I have no problem with this.

I'm the complete opposite, i had no interest if the gameplay was similar to Odin Sphere, but the turn based strategy gameplay that kinda reminds me of X-COM got me interested.

Tower defense kills this for me. I can play those types of games for like 2 minutes a day (Arknights) at best. Also the lack of 2d in battle, and I'm sure other people don't care about this but I know a few that do. Again I hope it sells in the west so it can fund the next VW game.

Ignoring 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim for not being an Action RPG like most Vanillaware games would be one of the biggest mistakes of your life.

That is most hyperbolic filth I've seen in a preview ever.

I appreciate the hype you're creating, but now I think I'm going to pass on reading anything else about it until the game comes out. Before writing this post, I was reading the RPGsite review and the author said:
If you're even the slightest bit curious about 13 Sentinels, I recommend just getting it and playing it with as little knowledge as possible.
So yeah, I think I'm going to do that. I haven't seen a single negative thing about it, and while I know it won't be perfect, it really looks like one of those times where you just somehow know that the game is going to be special. Can't wait!

I haven't played a single Vanillaware game that disappointed me. I'm just saying don't dismiss this game just because it's not what they usually make. I never asked for P-team to make Puzzle game but I end up loving Catherine.

vanillaware has become one of my favourite developers and honestly after making their best and most popular game with dragon crown I would have preferred a sequel to that than this.

But looking at this game it is undeniably impressive presentation and I used to be a big fan of mecha anime. I will probably get this day one and hope to be pleasently surprised but more excited in their future projects.

How could anyone possibly be annoyed by someone posting a game preview on a games forum? :messenger_grinning_smiling:

I love Vanillaware and will definitely buy it if it comes to PC (I'm more hopeful now that Atlus have gotten serious about the platform)

PlayStation Underground did a gameplay video on it, it seems quite nice and unique. I wish that it was also coming to Vita. Still, I will definetly buy it on PS4!

I absolutely loved Muramasa on Vita, so I was automatically hyped for this when I realised it was being made by Vanillaware.

But from the gameplay videos I have seen, I am a bit concerned. In that I barely see any gameplay at all. I was expecting some incredible side-scrolling action like in Muramasa/Odin Sphere, but this seems like a visual novel with some weird SRPG-lite gameplay sprinkled in.

Doesn't look like what I was expecting or would be interested in playing, which really sucks.

Look at this way, Toyama usually makes horror games like Siren or Silent Hill but instead he decide to make a game that's very different than what he usually makes, that's how we got Gravity Rush.

I personally like developers try different things, that's how we get exciting new IP for that very reason.

There is very little gameplay involved in this game and plays more like a VN yes.

Let me ask you this, did you hated games like 999, Ace Attorney and Steins;Gate!? Just because they usually make action RPG, should they always be stuck making same type of game?

I highly enjoyed VN game like Zero Escape and Ace Attorney series and now we are getting with Vanillaware artstyle is fantastic to me.

First one was ok, never liked it and I enjoyed it despite time travel fuckery.

He was asking how the game played. Some people just don't like certain types of games. I already said what I don't like about this game though and it has nothing to do with a dev sticking to what they are good at doing. VN's are fine. Hell I recently recommended one to another gaffer.

It was Katawa Shoujo wasn't it you deviant.

Based on how much fun I am currently having with Dragons Crown, I am growing more interested in this and Vanillaware's other games like Odin Sphere.

I LOVED Odin Sphere, but like SLoWMoTIoN said, 13 Sentinels is VN with Real time strategy gameplay, so don't go in to this game expecting Dragon's Crown or Odin Sphere.

I see SLoWMoTIoN point, as much as I'm personally digging the gameplay, this type of gameplay is not going to appeal to everyone especially for western audience.

I hope Atlus have put realistic expectation for this game in west.

You know for a Marie loving deviant you are pretty cheeky kid.

No, but you should play it over 999's trilogy of tism.

Would feel her heart pounding again <3

For a game that doesnt have "mass appeal" I cant believe its already sold out on EBgames.

Also it seems there is not gonna be collectors Edition for west.

Man, I have to say Vanillaware out done themselves with background art and lighting in this game, it looks gorgeous.

Too bad the PA Vita version got cancelled. This game looks like it would be perfect for it.
Yeah that was a dick move. You can play every VW game on the Vita outside GrimGrimoire. (Ironically the other RTS VW game)

I'm not saying devs shouldn't try new things. In fact more power to them for trying out new ideas that they wanted to make. I'm glad gems like Gravity Rush exist (Kat has to be one of the most pure and lovable protagonists of all time).

I'm just saying that this isn't for me and I'm personally disappointed I won't get to play another action sidescroller from Vannilaware.

Switch is popular in Japan, couldn't they made it for that system instead? This is not Vanillaware's first time making games for Nintendo like Muramasa for Wii.
There must be a reason why they avoid Nintendo.
