2014 NCAA Tournament March Madness |OT|

They gave me a pair of tix for the First Four games tomorrow night. I'm gonna be pulling hard for the Vols down there. Gotta rep my fellow SEC teams. Then its back to the Cats on Friday. The UK variety of Cats.

I know several ACC fans who root for all ACC teams in the tourney. Even Carolina fans that root for Duke and State fans who root for Carolina.

That's so weird to me.

Thursday/Friday is still the first round!!!!

Fuck what the NCAA says, and anyone who agrees with their 1st round is actually 2nd round shit can go play in traffic.

but it's fun being pedantic about it
:p

(yeah I know)

College Football 2014 |Week 1| You SEC peeps are weird.

I just Completed the Quicken Loans Billion Dollar Bracket on Yahoo.. Part of me doesn't want to get a perfect bracket and just wants to be a top 20 imperfect for the 100k.. I don't want that much notoriety..

I'm guessing you've never watched a college football game. Or at least not in the last decade.

Ita not really a conference thing or a football thing or a basketball thing. It's a southern thing, a kinship. Like sticking up for family when an outsider is picking on them even though deep down you don't care much for them anyway.

I mean, it kinda is....

Btw I'm a Michigan fan, and I have them losing up to Louisville in pretty much every bracket I have.. I don't think it's a good matchup at all..

Hard to root against this wolf pack team though. Even if Gottfried's a douche.

In general I'll root for State. They're like the scrappy, under appreciated little brothers who keep getting shit on by the big bullies from Chapel Hill.

UNC though? Hell naw

I haven't developed strong feelings either way about Cuse yet.

I don't dislike Virginia, but that style of basketball (Pacers style fuckball) hurts my eyes. The less of it I see, the better.

Most State fans I know (including myself) respect Duke but can't stand UNC for many, many reasons.

The only team more hated might be Arizona St. (because of Herb Sendek)

If you think UVA is boring, Sendek was ten times worse. At least Gott's teams are fun to watch.

So... why don't fans of Georgia Tech, Clemson, Florida St, Louisville, etc etc cheer for SEC teams?

In the case of FSU/GT/Clemson- it might be because Fla/UGA/SCar cockblocked them out of the SEC.
Also, there's the same dislike you see between UNC/State.

Louisville/Kentucky dislike is probably on par with UNC/State, but slightly below Alabama/Auburn.

Really? I wish Sendek nothing but the best , at least his teams never outright sucked like Lowe's.

Meanwhile, we are out classing Xavier right now. No one can question our tourney credentials after this performance. The only thing that kept Xavier in the game was Warren missing shots.

Firstly, even if you're in the same conference you don't like the in-state rival. That takes precedence. Georgie Tech doesn't consider itself "southern" but there is some similar conference pride among the old ACC schools, probably for the same reason.

Also, anyone who tells you Louisville is southern is a dirty liar.

It probably also helps that 10 of the 14 current teams were founding members back in 1932, so there is a lot of familiarity there.

My final four right now is Florida, Iowa State, Louisville and Creighton.

Feel less sure about this year's bracket than I have in any other year of recent memory. Especially that Creighton pick.

Creighton and ISU are the only ones I actually feel comfortable with at the moment.

I have the same thing but with Michigan State. I'm really uncomfortable with the whole bracket this year really.

I had MSU, but then saw like 5 dudes on ESPN pick them while I was working. Figured it was a jinx and switched to to ISU :lol

Both teams are coming off nice conference tourney performances so I dunno. Will probably just stick with ISU.

Not really. Out of pure curiosity, why does it bother you?

It just seems like he could be doing something more productive with his time. I mean filling out a bracket, yeah sure whatever. Doing a segment for ESPN....maybe not. I guess its not the action itself its more of the impression it gives to other countries that we aren't taking foreign policy issues involving their country seriously. But hey, I guess if this provides a good break from the presidential grind so be it.

I'm struggling with my brackets this year

Same.

It's funny how this works - hard to argue against picking top seeds from going deep, but you always know there's going to be some 6-11 seed in the Elite Eight. Teams like Arizona and Florida seem like sure bets for the FF, yet I wouldn't be surprised if neither made it.

Bring on the madness!

So what was the easiest "upset" call to make on your brackets?

I think for me Nebraska 11 over Baylor 6 was a no brainer.

Edit - Flipped the seedings lol

Since apparently nobody answered:

anyway, random point: if Wichita State were to advance to the Elite 8, would you guys pick them to win their next game and make the Final Four?

because it seems most are picking them to lose to Louisville.

Duke/Michigan fans are prohibited from answering this question

My sleeper pick is UConn. Only have them going to the Elite Eight, but I think they are going to wreck some brackets.

I don't have them facing Louisville...

Harvard over Cincy, Nebraska over Baylor I feel fairly confident about.

my big ones are WMU over Syracuse, NDSU over Oklahoma, S.F. Austin over VCU, Iowa/Tennessee over UMass.

I'm not quite sure why I chose Cuse getting upset, but I have a feeling.
