You've got to be kidding. The political fallout couldn't be any more gripping (the Vice-President invoked the 25th Amendment to have Palmer removed from office). And the intrigue and mystery surrounding the Cyprus audio was even more suspenseful than the nuke being detonated because of how intricate the entire process was. We got to see how it was made, who made it, why it was made, Michelle put her job on the line to try and help Jack, and to top it all off, Sherry, of all people, was involved in the mess.

Season 2 never struggled.

That was the part I forgot to mention...Sherry!

Damn, she made Season 2 so great towards the end.

Finally got the first 3 seasons in the mail with Chappelle's Season 2. Along with Minish Cap, I have this insane ability of sending myself kickass packages. I'm thru the 1st 4 episodes. Damn, it's great already.

Season 1 has the worst of all... you can tell they weren't all that concerned with the widescreen as one scene (can't find the ep # right now)--Nina sneaks into a room by herself and picks up the phone to call and all of a sudden a man walks into the picture and ducks... I honestly thought she was about to be jumped, but just then the camera angle switched to the mystery mans POV....

My reaction to seeing a camera in the shot...not once, but TWICE! :lol It was in season one when that woman (the new director of CTU) was with Tony in that room trying to make him confess. It was so blatant that you'd think it was supposed to be in the shot. :lol But when they switched camera angles, pointing in the direction where the camera was, it's mysteriously gone so you instantly KNOW that it wasn't supposed to be there. :lol

I love the progression of this post. Fantastic. :lol

Yeah...my comment was both in regards to each individual hour, as well as a general, generic comment of "(Blank) of the Week". I just feel that this season became just a huge ass string on terrorist attacks instead of an intriguing threat to national security. Early on in the season it seemed like it worked.

The Train Derailment and the Briefcase
The Kidnapping of Secretary Heller
The Huge Internet Traffic
The Nuclear Plant Meltdowns

See, this? This is a nice little string of intriguing attacks. In fact, this could have been an entire season's worth. It's a logical progression where everything is leading up to one big attack.

And then, it seems like they're not done! No, they have to shoot down Air Force One by stealing a Stealth Fighter and then using the Nuclear Football they recover to figure out the launch codes and location of a nuclear warhead, which they then steal and program to send towards Los Angeles.

That's two seasons of storylines that, really, could be entirely unrelated. I mean, you could have started with the plot to steal a Stealth Fighter and then led logically into the rest of the season...it was seriously two seasons worth of storylines packed into one.

Taken as separate entities, they're fairly good sets of storylines. Crammed into the same season, it took the show from intrigue to contrivance. Entertaining contrivance, but contrivance nonetheless.
