Star Wars games have been consistently the graphics leaders on Nintendo hardware.

shadows of the Empire and Rogue Squadron on N64 and Rogue Leader on GameCube...

or the easiest achievable performance. I mean it is Ubi.
 
I bought this for my ns2. My son really likes it. I was mostly impressed with what i saw. Graphics are great, and gameplay seems like a mix between assassins creed and uncharted.
 
I can't wait for the demo that is supposedly coming. Not too interested in the game per say but I sure want to see it run on it.
 
This level of port will become standard in a year or two. It's "just" Ubisoft after all.

I can't wait to see high effort ports like Witcher 4.

Switch 2 already isn't playing nice with UE5. Cronos doesn't even have Lumen on it and Bloober definitely know what they're doing with UE.

Witcher 4 will never come to Switch 2. not with the current state UE5 is in.
Lumen is insanely demanding (while looking like shit), so there's no way it would ever run on Switch 2.

there's a reason not a single UE5 game on Switch uses any UE5 feature. they all essentially run at a UE4 feature level

Silent Hill f seems to run on ancient systems like mine alright enough. Consistent 30fps (the odd hitch loading in new areas and assets) with medium settings, lumen lighting on (cos it looks kinda ass off), screen space reflections rather than lumen and FSR upscaling to 1440p (seems to work in quality setting but I guess safer to avoid drops on balanced, little difference in IQ anyway). That's on a GTX1080 and i7 3770K. A proper Switch 2 port should achieve a better balance of visuals and framerate with DLSS (no RT features on my ol PC, I was surprised it even runs, never mind well enough to play it through). But of course Silent Hill isn't anything like Witcher 4 open world stuff are likely to be, just saying in general for UE5 games (which I imagine all devs want/push for the engine and games to be further optimized over time and run and look better on all setups anyway).​

that GTX1080 is not that much less powerful than the GPU of the PS5.
it's more than 2x as powerful as the GPU of the Series S.

the Switch 2 GPU while docked, is about half as powerful as the GPU of the Series S.

so with that in mind, imagine having a GPU with 1/4 of the power you have now. and remember that software Lumen is generally faster than hardware Lumen, even on GPUs with RT acceleration. so the RT hardware of the Switch 2 wouldn't even come into play probably.

Yea, I am also curious about the demo from a technical point of view. I'm not really interested in the protagonist or gameplay I've seen from reviews but if the demo manages to hook me and the game is cheap enough, then maybe I might entertain the idea of a purchase.

Just Ubisoft? Games like AC:Shadows, this SW game and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora are three of the most technologically advanced games out there. Custom games engines too, not UE5 crap.
 
Playing it right now. It looks absolutely amazing on Switch 2. I was impressed by Cyberpunk but Outlaws takes it to a new level. A true next gen experience. The game itself is also quite good, with a lot of fun open world exploration.

By just Ubisoft, I mean that while their ports on Switch 1 were good, they were not top of the line either. They were good.

If we follow the same trend, and considering that this is the early port of one of the most technically ambitious current generation open world games, there will be ports in the future which are gonna blow our mind.

In a hindsight, cyberpunk is a decent port but could be seriously improved, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few performance patches. We were just high on it because even in its current state, it's very playable and destroys the steam deck version.

well, he is not totally wrong, there is no UE5 games on SW2 at the moment and the only one that was announced was indefinitely delayed, but lets wait and see.



Edit: i m wrong here, Chronos and other UE5 games are out on SW2, what happens is that no UE5 game on switch 2 at the moment are using Nanite, Lumen or VSM according to DF video.

We need a Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the Witcher 3 now that CDPR are familiar with the hardware. Going to be a huge upgrade over the Switch 1 version.

What? That's not true. Cronos: The New Dawn is on Switch 2 and looks pretty great. Fortnite as well. Split Fiction, too.


All look and run acceptably well.

Glad that this is showing the technical capabilities of Switch 2 but the game itself i felt was cool at the very beginning and then quickly deteriorates into the usual Ubisoft bloat. You end up with so much shit to do, so many constant popups saying "do this", "do that", to where it eventually is almost overwhelming and you end up just running around in circles not really doing anything. I gave the PS5 version a good attempt but i couldn't keep going after 5hrs or so for the reasons above.

The ugly AF protag didn't bother me as much as i thought, but other things did.......like how 90% of Imperial officers and Stormtroopers were women. Like at least attempt to make it even.

I mean, not all devs or engines are capable/performant? Just like PS5/Xbox games have pathetic RT support. What kind of logic you're trying to apply here?

The proof is that it can be achieved. Now its up to devs. The "impossible ports" will showcase RT more than likely. UE5 is too fucking CPU heavy with software Lumen as of now to be worth it. Maybe iterations of UE5.x will improve it a lot or devs will have to use Nvidia RT implementations.

Mesh shaders + RT will be part of the "impossible" ports on Switch 2.

This game was shat on, ridiculed and forgotten in a week by GAF. I admire what Ubi did with it on the S2, but it's funny to read comments that make it look like now the game deserves attention.

they are not telling others to buy it. If they want to wast their money like I did on PC. oh well 🤷‍♂️

And I do not think the main issue is any sort of wokism or even horrible gameplay.. it's that the game is half finished. once you leave the first planet things get very sparse very quickly.

Looks like UE5 is not capable of use the RT cores of the Switch 2 (At this moment). Ubisoft managed to use all the capabilities of the hardware.

Not how that works, not this early in a console's life. Remember, the PS5 and Series X didn't start showing ray tracing until half their life time.

Apparently RE9 is using RTGI for lighting but not for reflections, unlike SWO which uses snow drop engine.

Did anybody here care to read what I was replying to?

TLDR:
I said it was impressive that Ubisoft was the first and currently only dev to have Ray Tracing on Switch 2. Dude replied and said it wasn't impressive, I said if it wasn't impressive then everyone would be doing it, obviously not everyone but you would think there would be more than one dev that has it working if it was as easy as setting ray_traced_gi = True.

Just trying to get Ubisoft props where it's due.
