Aaron Greenberg Promoted To Xbox's VP Of Games Marketing

I know this guy gets a lot of stick but you have to give him credit for weathering the storm that was the Xbone,lol.......at least now Xbox actually have something worthwhile to market.

Well deserved. You may not like him, but he's good at his job 🤷‍♂️
yeah u mean good at >>

:P

He always seemed more of a warrior than somebody officially employed and now he's failing upwards. He doesn't know how lucky he is, Gaf alone has like 300 people that could very easily replace him.

Only way this is a good news is if Greenberg will be less involved in day-to-day marketing
Because to be honest, I have mixed feeling about him.
Because Microsoft is great at promoting their consoles and Game Pass but they are terrible at promoting their own games.

Gears 5 had terrible marketing. I didn't even know when Gears Tactics came to Xbox consoles. Hivebusters campaign expansion came and went and that's shame because it was solid. As Dusk Falls? Like nobody knew that this game came out. Just terrible.
Only game that is currently have some semblance of marketing is Starfield and I give more credit to Bethesda marketing team then him.

Most companies in the world structure VPs above GMs.
Within the same function though, such as Marketing in this case, that isn't my experience in Fortune 100, 50,000+ employees. You can certainly VP as higher org level over GM when the functions are different and of different importance, such have General Manager, US Manufacturing vs VP, Global Finance. Seems like in this case, a retitling of levels occurred or it's just different than what I'm used to seeing which is fine.

The fact that so many Sony fans hate him is all the proof that you need at his effectiveness.
a lot of people dislike him because Phil will decry the console warring for being awful (he's done that as far back as 2015 and as recently as earlier this year) but then they have Greenberg who acts like a diehard console warrior + engages with the worst of that community

if Phil really believes that why isn't he telling Greenberg to knock it off? instead it just seems like Phil wants to keep his hands clean & they have Greenberg do the 'dirty work' as it were

yes, because part of being an adult is getting children online angy

yep, makes sense, cool.
He is just excited about and enjoys promoting his brand (his job). The fact that snowflakes get triggered is on them.

And BTW that guy is a "green rat".

Huh? You must have a weird sense of humor if you think there's a joke hidden in that Tweet about offending Japanese culture with making an X.

The below is a joke, maybe you should've added that reference which is funny as hell.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert)...

Well, fuck it, I'll explain it to you.

Xbox doesn't sell well in Japan, the joke is making us believe the cause for that is that dumb gesture by Aaron Greenberg. There ya go.

General Manager to Vice President actually sounds like a demotion, at least it would be in my industry/organization.
General Manager is someone who works for the powers that be, A Vice President is one of the powers that be. I dont know what industry you work in but they're doing things backwards if a General Manager is higher up than a Vice President.

Not to single anyone out since none of us really know, but with the current state of xbox first party studios, obviously the people in charge should keep getting promoted . . . /s
