Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed coming to PS4 in NA this holiday (PS3/Vita 8/12)

Thank goodness! I was going to buy the PS3 version until I found out about the PS4 was getting a port that hadn't been announced yet.

Well now that it's coming here, it's a Day 1 (PS4) purchase. :)

Gonna take the PS3 version .. am i to understand that there will be a ps3 digital version available on the 12th of august ?

Because that's what i'm looking forward to get.

You understand correctly, yes! ;)

Ok nice to know everything is in order :)
I would normally wait for the pS4 version BUT i really enjoyed the fact that the game was dual voice ( dual text is the surprise bonus ) and i want to support the publishers that follow this path .
Digital on PS3 , will buy physical on ps4 when it's out

Got my pre-order for the Vita version in, costing me $6. I just wish the $# off coupons could work on pre-ordering games instead of just when picking them up at GameStop. Now I just hope I can get a good amount of gametime in before I go back to college.

Well this is interesting. So I got a call from GameStop that "your game" will arrive on Tuesday. Off the top of my head, I don't really have any other games pre-ordered (save for Shinovi Versus but that's Sept.), so I'm guessing the game is coming out a week earlier? But it's still listed as the 12th on their site, so I don't know if it bumped up a week or for the first time ever, I accidentally got the call early.

Apologies for the double/slight-necro bump, but was wondering if anyone else got a call from GS &/or if this can get confirmed.

I got this same call this morning. I'm going in for it Tuesday.

I noticed Tom posted this on the Xseed forums:

All of them except the two DLC packs you got for signing a phone contract with DoCoMo in Japan will be available in the localized version of the game. Those two, unfortunately, were not available to license for the game's international release (but they're not the ones most people are concerned about -- all the ones relating to other games or anime are 100% confirmed for the localized version of the game).

However, no DLC items will be present at launch -- we're going to be rolling out the DLC packs two at a time every week or two following the game's release. They will all be free to download, however, whenever they land on PSN.
For the paid DLC (i.e the swimsuits), they might still cost money, but they'll see.

& in response to someone getting the call from GS:

Did you preorder the PS3 version or the Vita version? To my knowledge, the PS3 versions have been produced and are ready to go, while the Vita versions are still finishing up their production cycle. So it's REMOTELY POSSIBLE some stores might have PS3 versions of the game in stock, but yeah, they're definitely breaking street date if they're selling them on Tuesday. Which is... fine, I guess, since our whole reason for being so wishy-washy about release dates is because we don't want to sit on finished games for weeks like a lot of publishers do... but do post again if you're able to get the game on Tuesday, as we'd at least like to know which stores to waggle our fingers at.
Hmm, I pre-ordered the Vita version (& so did the person Tom was responding to), so I wonder. Guess some people will get their copies a week early?

Hmm were the GameStop calls automated? That system has messed up before and seeing how that is all controlled by corporate they would not break SD unless they got permission. (At least US GameStops)

I would call the store you have it preordered at to make sure they have them in before heading in cus it would suck to waste a trip.

I forgot about this game. I haven't checked my release calendar recently and I'm surprised it was coming out the same day as Disgaea. :( SAO is also coming and that's another major game I'm planning to play. This August will kill my wallet. :'( Need to prioritize what I need to get first.

I haven't preordered yet because I'm hoping a store for which I have a giftcard will have it, but I'll check Tuesday if it released early. I'm really looking forward to this silly game.

I preordered this on PS3 and got the text as well. When I swing by work tomorrow, I'll talk to my DM and see if this was a fluke or what.

If I recall, Gamestop got Saints Row IV National Treasure Edition a week early recently. Didn't they get Xblaze as well?

How much of a difference is it going to be between the PS3 and Vita version?

As HoursLeft said, the difference is practically nil. These are the notable advantages each version has:

Vita
- AR mode
- Doesn't save System Data alongside game data (so faster saving/loading)
- Slightly better framerate in certain situations (both versions drop framerate a bit when loading NPCs into the area, though the Vita version seems to perform a little better in this regard)

PS3
- Easier-to-read text due to the larger screen, particularly for emails and Pitter
- Dynamic shadows during gameplay, as opposed to circle shadows

I struggle to think of any other differences between the two, honestly. They're both nearly identical in almost every regard.

Ok I love the voice clips.

Just by listening I can already tell I will play through in English. I really like the English Little Sister's VA and Shion's English VA were quite nice.

Just got a voicemail from GameStop, it was an actual person saying the game will not be available tomorrow and it will be available on the 12th.

Proudly debt free. If you need a couple bucks, just ask.
I hope we get the release date for Shinovi Versus after this comes out.

It's not September 30th?

That's placeholder. We haven't announced an actual release date yet.

Placeholder dates are still estimated release dates, though, so barring any major catastrophes or setbacks, our actual release should be somewhere around there. Hopefully. ;)

I microwave steaks.
I just got a phone call and I thought it was just reminding me that it was coming out tomorrow and I hung up, but now I read this ;_;

Oh, so this is the sequel to the PSP game but titled differently in the US? Is it good? I expected typical Japanese nonsense with passable gameplay.

If there is not much graphical difference between Vita and PS3 think I'll pick up the Vita version and PS4 later one (despite not owning one).

Now the question is... digital or physical for Vita. Hmmm. Think digital will be better and a physical for the PS4.

Looking forward to this one. Quirky and fun from what it seems.

Damn!

What version do I get now?

I have all three systems

may just roll with the vita version since its $40... plus it will be a little more discrete, not sure what my wife will think of this game!

Well... does it look good to you?

If it looks amusing and fun to you, rather than offensive and eye-rolling, then I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy it. It's a very well-done satire with a lot of content and a lot of charm, but it's certainly not for everyone.

Don't understand why this isn't a crossbuy between the Vita and PS4.

Vita and PS3 version came out first. PS4 version was later announced (unfortunately for the XSEED team, before the localized version was out) by the development team. Felt rather bad for them as XSEED will definitely be pestered by requests for the PS4 version as a result of that announcement but props to them for delivering to us fans with the bonus announcement of the PS4 version.

Don't understand why this isn't a crossbuy between the Vita and PS4.

It isn't in Japan either. The game wasn't really programmed to share any data from one version to another -- the three versions are all entirely separate entities, with their own unique trophy sets and everything.

We've informed Acquire that cross-buy and cross-save are important for American consumers, so I'm sure they'll look into it for future multi-platform releases, but it seems the option just isn't there for this one. We're still hoping maybe they can at least add cross-save to the game via patch or something, but right now, that's basically just a "wouldn't it be nice" scenario.

It definitely does make it harder to choose, though, in its current state, and I'm sorry for any inconvenience that might cause anyone.

Ok thanks for the answer. Most likely will get the Vita version only.

Help me out here, I see a lot of hype for this game on forums etc, but I honestly have no idea why. Can someone explain?

Why ask why? Ask why not! ;)

...In all seriousness, though, what is it you don't understand? Your question is a bit broad, which makes it hard to answer. Are you approaching this from the "it's clearly a pandering fanservice game, so why are people championing it?" angle that a lot of media outlets have taken, or from the "it looks like just another anime-inspired JRPG, so what sets it apart?" angle?

Or is this more of a general "tell me what makes this game good" request?

In any of these three cases, the answer will boil down to "it's an envelope-pushing satire RPG with an irreverent sense of humor, a unique setting based very accurately on a real-life location, gameplay that centers very heavily on customization and silly experimentation, and a story that's surprisingly nuanced and well-written with characters who are quirky, charming and generally all-around likeable."

But that brief explanation can be expanded upon quite differently depending on your angle.
