You like me, you really really like me!
Well, that didn't last long. I went ahead and disabled merging Chrome tabs with apps.

I tried to like it Googy. I really did.

Good. Tabbed browsers were created for a reason. I remember Google poking fun at iOS in some Google IO that having tabs in browsers is 'as God intended'. Then they went. "Eeh, IE6 was probably okay. The mass exodus to Firefox was probably for some other reason."

I am convinced that Google has switched their 20 percent policy to mean the minimum amount of time where their decision makers don't necessarily have to be drunk.

That's not even an option for me and I've tried both Chrome and the beta on android L? It doesn't allow individually show chrome tabs as multitasking windows and I'm not sure why.

If you go into Chrome settings you don't have the option "Merge tabs and apps"? I know it was a Chrome update to enable this. I have Chrome version 39.0.2171

Okay I'm having some trouble. Installed 5.0 about 2 days ago on my Nexus 5 over OTA 100% stock everything. This morning while using my phone the "Power Off" icon kept popping up every time I hit the wake button, and then the phone would randomly turn off. After about 2-3 times of that, the phone stopped turning back on. Holding down the power button did nothing, and trying it to go into recovery did nothing as well.

When I plug it into my charger, the Google logo pops up, then the phone turns off and this repeats endlessly until I remove the charger. When I try to go into recovery mode with the charger in, it pops up for a second, and then resets back to the Google logo and then repeats forever.

Please help.

Tablet or phone? It's only an option on phones.

Decrypted my Nexus 6 last night. It's really easy. It does require a full wipe, but worth it. They really should just allow you to turn it off. Sucks that if there is another update, it will encrypt my phone again :/

Sure about that? I think encryption is just a factory thing, and that once you've disabled it it won't automatically reenable itself (except if you flash a factory image). But maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, they were created for PCs, where you can see all the tabs at once and quickly switch between them. On a phone Google's new approach actually works better, IMO. You just have to get used to dealing with tabs that way.

Sounds like something is up with your power key, or perhaps something more internal.

http://9to5google.com/2014/11/21/att-nexus-6-software-bug/

AT&T retail stores are reportedly being told to send back their first shipments of Google’s Nexus 6 due to a software bug identified by Motorola. The noted issues with this glitch are a blacked out screen and trouble connecting to the carrier’s service. Motorola Mobility is said to be working on restocking Ma Bell’s inventory with replacement devices, however this will likely have an impact on the handset’s availability.

Is there a way to "share" an app with my guest account? Basically I'd like the guest account I can create to have an app or two without needing to go and create a new google account just for the guest.

I'm trying to revert my One M7 back to stock Sense, but I can't figure out what to use to get back. I found this, but I have no idea what I would choose for AT&T since they aren't on the list as far as I can tell.

There are "users" and there are "profiles. For some stupid reason you can't create a "profile" on the phone, but on a tablet (Nexus 7 for example) you can create a Profile and control what apps the profile can use.

Is the dumbest thing ever! They should allow you to have profiles on the phones too. This way you can hand off your phone to a child for use.

I think a lot of that has to do with phones not generally being shared, unlike tablets. It would make sense for their to be profiles, though, I agree. That way every time a younger family member runs around I'm not worried about them coming across things they shouldn't.

I think it sucks that the Twitch app can't send notifications when favorited streamers go online, when the iOS app does that.

Forget porn. I'm always afraid my nephew is going to delete an important email, or text, in error. He's barely two, but he loves watching PBS kids on my phone. That and he loves the app drawer, clicking and opening all types of apps.

It's not the only app he likes opening. He knows netflix, likes to play with a golf game I have. I've "pinned" the PBS kid app, but he's well aware of how to navigate out of apps and find new ones. So pinning just causes him to tell me something is wrong with my phone.

Profiles should be activated on mobile phones. Not everyone with kids is going to be lugging around a tablet, specially wi-fi only tablets. And having a pre-set profile with kiddy apps would be great to keep the little ones entertain while parents are doing errands, etc.

Sounds like he wants an iPhone.

Anything with a touchscreen would do....I guess.

Tomorrow I'll probably get a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 16gb to replace my N7 2012 32gb.

A store-chain in Sweden are having a 20% discount this weekend on most of their goods.
That, together with the 6 months free Netflix-offer Samsung has, makes it a great offer for me.

Just some questions I hope you can answer.

I have a Samsung microSDHC 32GB Pro Class 10.
Will that be enough for now and maybe upgrade later to 64 or 128?
Will sideloading work without problem on a Samsung tablet?
The same with the Amazon appstore app and Humble Bundle?
Do I need a screen guard/cover

Any cases you can recommend? Interested in both plain and keyboard cases.

1. Depends on your use. Keep in mind SD cards on Android are basically exclusively for media (music, pictures, video) so it's up to you if you want more space for that.
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. I would say at least get a case, but again, up to you.

But you can install apps on the sd-card as well, can't you?
At least you could do that before, move most ot the app to the sd-card. Is that not possible anymore?

Don't you need an account for guest mode to be able to download anything from the play store? Or am I completely wrong here?

On my Nexus 7 I can create a profile, no Google account sign-up required, and I can "allow" which apps can be used under that profile.

Yep

Updating installs the default boot.img, thus it re encrypts the device and will require flashing the modded boot.img again to decrypt it

the internet tells me you don't need an account if the apps are already on your device. Only to download different apps. I haven't tried it though

We delivered a small number of Nexus 6 smartphones with incorrect software to AT&T customers who pre-ordered. The incorrect software prevents the phone from starting up properly. We will provide replacements for consumers whose phones are affected. The problem has been corrected and the phones currently shipping are fine.

Way to fuck it up Moto. Bravo!!

So one of the big advantages Android had over Apple is gone?
Who the hell thinks that "16" gb for apps is enough on "high-end" tablets...
This pisses me off. Might go all Apple then...

That's hardly one of the "big advantages". Apps on SD card is a terrible idea all around. SD cards are just so unpredictable, slow, and cheap compared to embedded flash on your device.

I've gone from regretting that I got a Z3 over other larger screen phones, to now regretting that I should've got a Z3 compact. I can't use this thing one handed at all.
