I'd buy it right now if it ran stock Android and had more information about the company itself. I'm calling bullshit on this because Android Lollipop isn't out to GPE devices yet somehow they have a working version of Lollipop.

We need to know what their support system looks like before deciding on this. Besides, one of the excellent video reviewers needs to peep this device or Anandtech takes a look at it.

Someone figured out how to corner the elitist spec core Android customer.

LOLONEPLUSLOL

This what some of us expected the OPO to be when it was announced. I'll wait on this device until internet sleuths figure out whether or not this is legit.

I was at the Southcenter mall yesterday (south of Seattle) and saw that there was a pretty big Samsung kisosk in the walkway and they had the Gear VR available to try.

I hadn't tried the Oculus Rift yet so this was my first experience with this new type of VR and I have to say that it was pretty cool! It tracked my head movements extremely well and the demos were pretty cool. One was a full 360 (spherical I guess) helicopter tour of New York; if you looked straight down you just see straight down at the buildings, really great sense of scale. Another was a Pacific Rim one where you are in the giant mech, but it didn't work right since my chair was actually facing the wrong direction, haha (I could twist my head, but I didn't want to fully rotate in my chair since I was connected to wired speakers).

The only negative was that it seemed a little dim (but it could be that the phone was just on a low brightness) and the resolution was very noticeable. I had hoped that the pixels wouldn't be very noticeable given the Note 4's high res, but it definitely was for me. But it could be that the content itself was what was low res, since impressions I've heard elsewhere seemed pretty positive about the resolution.

To be fair, the writer did mention it may be a scam.
but even that part of the article is hilarious

The biggest question, of course, is whether this company can really deliver. We're all probably thinking the same thing here - this thing's too good to be true! So don't mash the buy button yet, unless you have those three hundred bucks to spare. We're not launching an investigation or anything, but we're contacting xodiom and Qualcomm in hopes of gathering some intel.

The biggest question? Contacting XODIOM? Unless you have 300 bucks to spare?

pls

makes me think it's their site and they are running the scam /tinfoil

Well, my Nexus 4 finally died, so I'm looking for a new phone. Hopefully you guys can help out :)

I can't let go of vanilla Android and I want to keep using Lollipop. Nexus 6 is way too big (and expensive) for me, so does that leave me with a Nexus 5 as my only other option? Any other affordable non-Nexus phones with vanilla Android which have Lollipop support already? Thanks guys.

hello moto (x)

Just had a look at it, looks like the perfect replacement, though it hasn't been released in Australia yet. Darn.
maybe get a cheap phone like a moto g or last years moto x until something better comes out in australia. Nexus 5 is still a good choice, only real downside is the battery. But the 4 aint any better so might not be a drop for you.

Thanks man. Apparently the Moto X is slated to be launched late December over here, so maybe I can use my old iPhone 4 in the meantime.

If not, I might see if I can get someone to buy it and ship it to me from the US, else I'll just settle for the Nexus 5.

Pull the trigger on the Moto X (Pure edition if possible). Won't regret it.

Get the savior phone, the xodiom phone. I already ordered 7, so you can just wire me the money and I'll send you one when they arrive.

There seems to be something wrong with my new moto g 2nd gen. Got the phone yesterday and since then for some reason the screen's top 1/4 part has stopped working twice. When this problem occurs the touch screen becomes very unresponsive and I'm not able to pull down the notification menu. Although restarting the phone fixed the problem both times. I have done a factory reset on the phone right now but I'm not sure if this is software or hardware related?

Any help would be appreciated.

I got 5.0.1 on my Nexus 7... And fuck everything else, they took away the default 4 colour background. Wankers. Luckily Android Police was the first Google image result, and I'm trying to get it back without looking pixelated. I think something was lost in translation, because this doesn't look as sharp as it did originally. The image is 2160x1920, but it doesn't seem the same. Why fucking remove things?

The only posts I get from hot and recommended on g+ is garbage from broken people about how obama is a socialist. I think I'm signing out of g+ for good.

So lollipop seems to have improved my battery life on my N5. I'm finally getting more than 2h30 of on screen time on the reg. Used to struggle getting to 2 hours if I was playing games. If battery reports are correct I would get over 5 if chrome didn't take 30% to the screens 12%...

There has to be something wrong here.

I cried tears of joy when I saw the leaked HTC One M9 specs not because I ever plan to get it but becuse it says it's just 5 inches. Hopefully the rest follow suit for 2015 :/

A google edition could be tempting if the price was right (it won't be right).

Indeed. My G2 is about as large as I can go and the G3 and rest of this year's phones have been huge. So perhaps a G4 "mini" next year will fit the bill in size and specs.

It's the only social work I use really. Though I do also have a Twitter account.

Same here. And I still have accounts for all other social networks, but only read, never post.

I and everyone else I know who uses G+ hardly ever post publicly though, it's always to circles, which is probably why people think it's empty and no one uses it, because they are not in others' circles. If you are not active, people won't add you to a circle, so you won't get to see posts. Once I got into people's circles I realized that it's used so much more than I thought from just casually watching from "outside". In contrast, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are much more oriented to posting everything publicly and lists are very difficult to manage by comparison.

Speaking of talking to myself and social networks, someone with the same name as me added me last night on Facebook. It's a new profile and the only friend he has is... A third guy with the same name as me. Weird.

Maybe he's me from the future but he doesn't know how to find the old me/him so he's adding everyone with the same name as me/him!

I can't wait to text me and tell myself all about it

I text myself. I selected a nice green color for me.

How do you change individual colors?

And can I select only "text" numbers for contacts? Right now when I select new message it might show "Andy - mobile, Andy - Home, Andy-work then "Bob 1-3 numbers" and so forth. But for andy only mobile can get texts and for bob only work might get texts so I don't want to see all of the options every time.

So it seems some people have run into issues with lollipop. It seemed to have screwed with my voice activation stuff on my moto x. Tried setting up a new phrase and the mic doesn't pick anything up. Anyone know what's up?
