For a phablet, I don't think the Note 4 or maybe even the Nexus 6 can be beat. The iPhone 6+ seems terrible to me and does absolutely nothing with the increased size.

Um I think the note 4 and the iPhone 6+ are the top phablet right now. The nexus 6 is like a shrink down version of the Nexus 7.

Screen, camera and batttery life is better on the note 4 and iphone 6+..most all reviews will point that out...and no way I'm counting the opinion of random neogaf poster who been championing the device before it was out.

I'd say the N6 gets pretty big bonus points for being stock, but I agree on the other points. The Note screen is downright bonkers.

I agree that the note has a better camera and better battery and a better display but because it has stock I still think it's better than the note 4 and will always recommend it first :p

I'm fighting the good fight here!

The warz are over. Put down your pitchfork. Now that the FUD for both phones has ended, it's clear N6 and N4 are definitely on equal footing. Two phones with beastly cameras/batteries/screens/etc.

It's literally just a personal choice now of pure Lollipop or TouchWiz. Something a little more simple/beautiful, or something a little more feature packed with an s-pen.

And either choice is fine. Be together, not the same.

Yea fuck the Lairs!

That is a pretty apt comparison. I mean even the patch didnt stop this game from being complete shit lol

how do you get big bonus points for being a blown up Nexus 4 in a land where the competition has optimized apps, services and additions custom made for large phones?

So TouchWiz has floating apps and snap to window sizing for multi-window apps but what else does it do? S-Pen not withstanding, I can't really think of it doing anything amazing.

But those things are pretty significant. And other lil things that makes it usuable with one hand. Plus the better screen, battery and camera of the Note 4. The nexus 6 is just a blown up nexus 5 and a shrink down version of nexus 7.

Because those "optimized apps, services, and additions" slow, hinder, and worsen the Android experience as much as they help it.

S-Pen is the only truly functional TouchWiz addition IMO. Everything else is pure gimmickry.

How do you get bonus points for being having a hardware spec bump with the same clusterfuck software as other Samsung phones?

See what I did there? This could go all day.

Simple/beautiful software on the Nexus 6, or more feature-packed software on the Note 4. Pick what makes you happy, no need for warz.

Samsung devices also give you replaceable batters and microsd card slots. (You can often get increased battery thingys on the ebays for even more battery life for them)

They also come with... well loads of samsung bloat. But still, some good stuff.

What is the android experience? Mediocre camera and battery life? Encryption that slows things down? Mediocre hardware but a lower price point...oh Wait..

I used an iPhone with 8GB for 2 years with ample space to spare and people are obsessed with SD cards. What kind of HD porn selection are you carting around?

E: let's not forget how much google loves to sync cloud. What's the hard on for an SD slot?

What is the android community? People continuing to spread misinformation? People starting warz over misinformation? People so clouded under the guise of superiority that they just can't help but spread misinformation to make themselves feel secure in their purchase? People who have no idea what the hell they are talking about and continue to have that firm pitchfork grip?

Oh wait, that's just you.

Move on or stop shitting up the thread.

What's the best app for putting a gorilla face over my face? Just and example of one of the things I am trying to do.

Is photoshop for android the only option?

Because alot of people don't have unlimited data, and if you're like me, you are not in an area with data 80% of the time on my commute. Oh not to mention a ton of games now go up to a gig or 2. You don't need to be carrying HD porn on your phone for you to need extra space.

I like to keep my music on it. So thats like 20gb.

Pod cast downloads..... etc......

Some apps are big and take up alot of room, and I dont want to have to be juggling or deleting apps just because I have no room left.

If you want to take alot of camera shots, videos, it goes straight to the sd card.

Why clutter up the 'main' drive when I cant have extra storage?

I mean, in Australia we have pretty low data caps generally, you cant 'live in the cloud' that easily. I get 1gb a month on my plan.

Maybe try relaxing and just answering the question in a calm, relaxed manner like some monotonous professor. It's not like I was being serious about the offhanded porn comment, anyway, lol. But of course you're going to pick at it. Everyone's so heated these days.

Probably for people who use their phone more like a tablet. I think movies would be the big culprit. Music can always be stored in GMusic and then pinned locally. (I listen to my full library on my hi-fi setup :p)

Every phone should come with three batteries. Srsly, no excuses.

I pin what I'm listening to most for the sake of my commute. Luckily otherwise I have unlimited data and no worries...minus battery life, but we'll overlook that.

Or or or, maybe. Maybe just one larger battery to save time. Who's really going to enjoy removing the back of their phone once or twice a day?

AnandTech

Today Samsung has announced a new version of the Galaxy Note 4 which will be launching in the South Korean market in January 2015.

The new Galaxy Note 4 adds a third model to this mix. It comes with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810, which is similar to Exynos 5433 in that it sports four Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores in a big.LITTLE configuration. However, the point that Samsung is advertising is not the SoC, but the cellular speeds that this new Galaxy Note 4 model is capable of. Snapdragon 810's modem allows for 3x20MHz carrier aggregation, which will enable LTE speeds of up to 450Mbps on future Category 9 LTE networks. It can also reach peak speeds of 300Mbps on current Category 6 LTE networks.

Well, I never use 2 batteries, but people who use their devices alot need it sometimes, samsung devices tend to have good battery life from my experience. I did buy a 'larger battery back cover' thingy cause it like doubled the battery life and only made it abit bigger. (for my galaxy s2)

Even if they drop that shit down clock speed to get the issues sorted that still means we are gonna get all of the goodies the 810 brings. Hell out the gate lpddr4 is 50% faster, and tbehve already said they should eventually push it to 100% faster than current lpddr3 rates. That's fucking HUGE for the GPU since they just reserve main ram for vram.

Me? That feeling when your phone dies, and in the next second is at 100%... it is like having an orgasm or watching a Nexus 6 drop test.

A phone should never be on a charger. What are we, savages? 3 batteries with an external battery charger (better if it can charge 2 at the same time), this is what we should expect of a portable, wireless device.

Vanillalite

Samsung better have the fucking lollipop update ready for that new Note 4 so Anandtech can import and benchmark the shit out of it for us. Gonna be fuck all worthwhile if it ships with KitKat with regards to benchmarks.

So as we get further into Android WarZ, let's unpack a few things that Sammy is doing. This of course is open to anyone who can answer and not singling you out Shin although you raise a fair point.

1) Is Samsung using a custom kernal to accomplish their features in TouchWiz or is it OS level only?
2) Is the competitive advantage of TouchWiz in multi-window and S-Pen worth the bloat on an Android phone?
3) we as an OT peoples must come to a consensus here soon that hardware is hitting diminishing returns. Aside from battery, camera and SD cards, user choice in the android ecosystem is purely subjective at this point. Skin, stock or Tizen is fine but overall, post Lollipop world, I'd say it doesn't matter anymore.

the micro sd crowd is becoming annoying.
People have given good enough reasons why they are great to have on a phone, and here you are saying they're annoying? Please.

Removable batteries are so great. I slept, didn't charge the Note 4 overnight, still used it when I woke up, and just swapped batteries. Instant 100% and ready to go while the other one charges. <3

Having used a microsd card recently on my phone, I'd take beefed up internal storage over a microsd card slot any day.

I'm done caring about SD cards. Was one of the biggest things that got me to dump my iPhone, but with streaming music and the inability to install apps to it, there's just no point anymore.

Companies need to offer me a 64GB internal NAND minimum going forward, or no buys.

shall save up for a nVidia Shield Tablet.
those speakers, ext microSD and HDMI make it a nifty entertainment device.

I kinda feel my Note3 and Nexus 7 will overlap

The biggest thing I hate about Samsung's phones and tablets is that they put the back button on the right side. It's a minor thing, but it drives me freaking crazy.

Other than that, I love their hardware, just not a big fan of their software and them locking down their phones like they do makes it really hard for me to support them.

Both have legit points. In fact i find the sd crowd having the edge. I find it easier to carry a powerbank (lots of sizes and capacicity to choose from, and can be used on any device) than a second battery.

But how do you manage storage? I take a lot of pictures and vids, and now with slow motion or over 1080p recording storage IS an issue, i have huge files.so SD card is the easy way to add more unexpensive storage plus is replaceable easily.

AS for the Android vs iOS thing, well, it is easier to focus on 2 devices a year instead of managing an OS that powers hundreds of different ones. Not that google hasn't its own flaws , should focus on battery life issues which are a bit inconsistent.

The hilarious part is how your first sentence and your second one blatantly contradict each other.

How to not blow through your data cap? Have your media stored locally on your device instead of streaming it. It's rocket science, I know.

Data caps? Pahahahahaha

I still need to know how Google Play Music decides what songs to download when I'm somewhere with bad signal though. I like having a random selection, but I prefer songs I've listened to do at least once.
