Anyone know of a good Nexus 7 2013 screen replacement kit? Mine I guess fell out of my backpack this morning, cracked the screen and damaged the digitizer. I don't want to have to get a new one if I can avoid it.

I mean, he was talking about the FRONT cam, but still. Not sure I've ever had a phone that had a centered front cam.

Yeah, that's even worse. I can't even think of a phone that has that. I mean, it would get smudged by your ear when you actually make calls that way.

When the phone is upside down in your pocket, it's right side up after pulling it out.

It's right side up anyway, but I grasp the back of my phone out of my pocket.

It's all moot anyway. Should start packing in bluetooth headphones and then no-one cares where the port is!

I guess this is the thread for asking for phone recommendations. I'm currently sporting an HTC One M7 that has major battery life issues in its old age.

I'm thinking about going to the HTC One M9 or maybe switching back to Apple and getting an Iphone 6. My music collection is all tied up in itunes and all the music options from itunes to android tend to all suck. Thats just to get me down to carrying one device instead of two.
My current phone usage is 50% games, 20% web browsing, 20% video sites, and 5% texting. Maybe 5% talking on the phone.

I don't want a bigger phone. Is there a better phone than the M9 for my usage?

There are very easy ways to strip iTunes DRM off your music collection, so I wouldn't use that as a deciding factor.

If you like the M7, you'll probably like the M9. That being said, I think the S6 is a much better choice right now.

Is there any reason you can't just upload your collection go Google Music?

At anyrate the iPhone sounds best for you, but be prepared to pay out the ass as I have a feeling you are talking local storage for music and need 32 or 64 gig storage other wise this would be a moot point if you were paying for Spotify or Google Music or Rdio ect...

Anything purchased from iTunes after 2009 doesn't have any sort of DRM and anything purchased before that does have DRM you can just redownload the music from the iTunes Store and it will be DRM free.

Oh what a surprise. Reason I haven't received my Lollipop update is because of some hold up by the fucking carriers in the UK. If mine is unlocked the carriers shouldn't have to halt the entire process. I should really just flash the US firmware so I can avoid all that bullshit.

1. Upload your music to Google Music
2. Buy a Galaxy S6

Found a fix for the broken video in Snapchat on the S6.

Enable developer options, and uncheck "Use NuPlayer (experimental)". This is apparently some new video playback feature Sammy is playing with, and it's jank central.

Nah, that's a fine choice. I'd probably say get the M8 as an upgrade over the M7 mind you and save some cash.

The M9 isn't horrible after the updates, it's just an M8 side-grade rather than an upgrade.

NuPlayer was introduced with Lollipop by Google to replace AwesomePlayer. Must be some weird compatibility thing between that, Samsungs implementation of it and Snapchat.

the m9 is fine if you dont care about camera. I have the s6 and it is a fantastic phone so far. However, I would recommend reading reviews that compare the two hottest phones on the market right now. The m9 is a fine phone and it was my top choice but I am a snapchat fiend right now and the camera is very important to me. It does suck that snapchat is still not fixed on the s6

My Verizon Wireless G3 is installing the OTA update right this very minute. It's about time!

YMMV but I did a factory reset after I installed on my AT&T version. That seemed to steer me clear of all of the issues that usually get reported with this type of thing.

Testing a full normal day of normal use. 58% after 6hr30min with 1hr3min SoT. On Wifi for all but one hour. VoLTE on. Cell standby at 12%, by far the most used.

Tomorrow I'll turn VoLTE off and see how it fares.

Is there much difference between Sony's stamina stuff and the new lollipop battery saving options? I have too many to choose between now

Yeah, I've heard that's definitely the way to go. That'll be the first thing I do after my phone finishes booting up.

how does one turn that off? or do I have to wipe the phone to do that?

Not very good. Definitely turn it off and try to use the phone a similar amount for accuracy.

On verizon, it's called Advance Calling, and it's right on the top of the settings menu. AT&T has a different name for it, and I think T-Mo calls it Wifi Calling. No wipe necessary, it just kills simultaneous voice and data functionality.

On AT&T it's called Enhanced 4G LTE Services, under Mobile Data in Settings. Simultaneous voice and data still works with it off, but you'll be on HSPA+ when in a call.

A difference in what?
Well he's not talking about S6 battery life since he wouldn't be caught dead using a piece of shit as a phone.

But from what I've heard, when you are talking to someone with a phone that also supports HD voice, the quality improvement is immense.

Wifi calling and VOLTE are 2 different things on T-Mo.

Some reddit VZW people reporting that this fixes their cell standby bug, I'll try tomorrow after using today as a control.

1) turn off phone

2) hold volume up, home button, power button until it boots into recovery

3) wipe cache partition

4) reboot

5) turn ON advanced calling

Of course some idiot wiped his data and bitched that his phone got erased, lol

My Nexus 6 still can't make it through a hard day. All I want is a phone that doesn't cause battery anxiety. Just one day of hard use. That's all I want. After like a decade of modern smart phones, come on.

doesn't that massive fucker have a 3000mah battery in there? Well the screen is huge but still.

Team Moto X 2015 with 3900mah battery!

I'd slap one of those ugly battery cases to my N6 if such a thing existed.

Unless you turn of all the cool stuff forget it for now.

Android will grow in terms of battery suckage especially with Now, locations and all the good things, which should be counteracted with more juice, but everyone is just obsessed with higher res screens and megapixels.

Those are all massive phones, there should be one around 5" that can get through a heavy day no issues. I guess the Z3/Z3C are those phones, but there should be more.
My Z3 took a pretty rough hit with Lollipop I may get a max of 4 hours on 1 and 1/2 days.

We need new battery tech.

I have to disappoint Android-GAF, bought an iPhone 6 today.

And hey, I really like it so far. The screen is surprisingly good! Was a bit worried about the resolution. Battery life wont be as good as it was on the G2 I used before, I can already tell that.

I'll probably be back in a year or two, hopefully to a normal sized Nexus...

Great choice. Everyone should try both OSes. And by try, I mean use for an extended time that isn't "my friend has one."
