Just picked up an S6 yesterday! This is my first android phone and I'm loving it. Don't know why it took me so long to switch.

That said, I have a car stereo that is like 5 years old that would play music from my iPhone over USB. Does anyone know if there are any android apps that will make the S6 the same way? Like spoof the phone to make the car stereo recognize it like an iPhone. I'm going to be pretty bummed if I just lost a way to listen to Spotify and my podcasts during my daily commute.

You have USB but no AUX port?

Sorry, I should have specified. I have an aux port but it doesn't work very well and the sound quality is terrible. It'll work if that's my only option, but I was hoping there would be some kind of app I could use to make the USB work.

GAF, should I pick up a S6 or wait for the Z4? Have a G3 at the moment but a bit bored

Logic would say wait until next year, but this thread is often not logical. In that case everyone seems to be raving about the S6. You could wait to see reviews of the Z4, but I doubt you could go wrong with the S6.

This year definitely seems like a skip year, unless you are really enticed by the S6. It's a very impressive phone..

I'm expecting that next, year the others will really try to bring it

What car do you have?

My car supports Android over USB. I know lots of car manufacturers only support Apple products though, which is dumb.

Your best bet is probably the aux port or Bluetooth audio.

Was expecting the two S6e handsets to arrive today. Just had an email from O2 saying they are expecting stock 'this week'.

Whisky.
Tango.
FOXTROT.

I guess they've been oversubscribed.

Same thing happened with my S4. Was lucky I pre-ordered in store at the time as they said they had 3 devices for 40 pre-orders in that store alone, but didn't know who pre-ordered when so I could walk out with one there as long as I didn't mind white instead of black.

It sucks, but what can you do? I can't complain with the bespoke deal I got as a business customer, but I wonder if Joe Public consumers are getting priority at the moment.

If O2 haven't changed their priorities in the 3 years since I was able to check, the order used to be new personal customers before anything else to make sure they got a good first impression.

S6 seems like a significant upgrade whereas the Z4 looks like it might be similar to the Z3. I say get the former.

why should you base a purchase on how much better it is than last year's model? What matters is how good the new ones are now compared to each other.

S6 does look like a great phone, but I think if jey_16 is considering both, it would make sense to wait a week for reviews of the Z4 to hit.

And then get a Z3 if the M9 performance is anything to go by.

If it uses an 810, Sony are not wizards. The gains over a Z3 will be negligible.

Does anyone really give a shit about CPU benchmarks? I agree that if the Z4 is an incremental update, then get a Z3 for less money though.

Honestly I feel like processor speed is completely irrelevant on the Z4.

If Sony wants me to buy one I want them to tell me

a) it has a good, robust finger print scanner that will be updated with full support for Android M's inevitable framework in a speedy fashion.

b) it has hardware decryption out of the box.

c) that everyone in the camera processing team has been fired and replaced with people competent.

Good. Side bars are annoying. They're the new Menu button.

It's shit. Now if I want to go to a specific channel that I'm subbed to I have to go through subscriptions on the top menu, but that's still not enough as it will just show random videos. I have to then click on all which brings it up alphabetically rather than it sorted by recent activity. Before that, it was right there on the sidebar.

Downgrading until I'm forced.

well it matters because otherwise you can just get last years phone for cheaper, possibly off contract depending on the phone.

hey guys a little help with Moto G. I see there are 2 versions which sort of confuse me.

Can the LTE one pick up the LTE from Tmobile or AT&T? Is the second generation just as fast even without the LTE? What's the better choice here for an American?

Yea only first gen has LTE right now. They are releasing a second gen with LTE in Europe soonish but no announcement for the US yet. I have LTE turned off on my N5 on Tmobile to conserve battery. HSPA+ speed is plenty for most of regular usage imo.

If you have the ability to wait for the Z4 and see how it's like, then I don't see why not. Good things come to those who wait :p

Z4 battery life will blow the S6 out of the water (hehe), bring it!

Is this what you have?

If so, it's a server side update, so I don't know how far you'd have to downgrade to get a version without the code in there for this. It also seems to just be a test as I don't think most people have it.

Speaking of which - is there any way to get RAW files off my Z3 for processing in lightroom?

That's what I had yeah. Gone back to 10.13.54 and it seems to have fixed it.
Ah ok, cool. I'm not sure I'd like the new interface either.

On a related note, is anyone seeing a delay between audio and video in the YouTube app? I've watched several videos now that all had the issue. I only just noticed it yesterday.

Yeah, I'm going to trust Anandtech more than a bunch of randoms on the Android forums.

He's kind of right, but without explanation, it doesn't mean much. The WiFi draining bug of raw 5 was horrible and battery just didn't last while on WiFi. So if your "real world" usage matches to using less WiFi, then it was better. As a comparison though, Anand and Ars were right on the money as they were comparing like for like. They can't account for software bugs.

Sony flagship phones typically launch in September I thought..

Anyways, since I don't give a fuck about phablets, I still actually care about having powerful tablets are thin and overall incredible performance. I'm still holding off on replacing my Nexus 7 (the Galaxy S Tab was tempting me with that thinness, battery life, and sexy screen). If got lucky and the Z3 Compact Tablet dropped in price, I'd probably if it somehow hit $300 because of the insane battery life, SD card slot, incredible thinness, and because I know the type of performance I'd be getting...

But, I think I will just wait for the next Nvidia shield tablet and pray that they make it thinner and more premium. That X1 chip will slay everything in performance, including the Exynos or A8 chips. If the battery life is solid, I'll be all over that. I really just care about fast browsing performance that's almost comparable to having a windows tablet. My Nexus is fast for the hardware it has, but feels like a snail when using a Yoga 2 with an i5 chip afterwards (again, I'm only talking browsing performance)

No, Sony didn't implement the Camera2 API in Lollipop.

That would be a step forward in the Z4 (though it's not a pancea, the hardware camera button would still be tied to the Sony Camera app unless the device is rooted).

Why is it that the average XDA poster is one step above functionally braindead?

Moron from XDA said:
Being that this phone is supposed to be a premium phone I'd would expect it to be prefect. Maybe I'm ocd but does anyone's s6 have a off centered front camera?
