I prefer Stock android over anything. I don't mind skins like Moto which had very unobtrusive features to benefit the user but I don't like the complete reskinning.

I also like the simplicity of it all. I'm not big on customization and feature lists and whatnot. People always say you spend most of your time in apps anyway so what does it matter, but it's because of that reason I prefer the phone to be slimmed down/able to receive updates quicker (in theory lolgoogle) and whatnot.

I'd be okay with that, but my LG has tap to wake and sleep and that is god tier compared to none on my N7. Plus I'm still waiting for 5.1 on my N7 so that hasn't helped me either.

In the end though I find it a wash. I don't dislike stock Android, but I don't find it to be a huge boon these days since OEMs have stepped. Plus they sometimes have cool extra features.

yeah things like tap to wake and other features that are really light/unobtrusive I really don't mind. I'm sure google will steal this one though along with multi window. Seems like no brainer stuff.

I really liked the Edge when I tried it in store, more than I expected to. My only worry is how thin the edge aluminium is, I can imagine it digging into my palm and being uncomfortable to hold in landscape during picture taking and video watching (something I do a lot with smartphones). I wish I could use the S6 Edge for an extended period of time, it's hard to get a good feel for it when they're locked down at carrier stores.

Who here has the S6 Edge, are you happy with your choice?

I love my Edge!

Though I'll admit that it's not for everyone. Some people might find it more uncomfortable to hold than the regular S6 and the edges make dragging icons around a little annoying.

Try it out in the store and make your choice.

It mostly comes down to whether you wanna pay the premium for the best looking phone ever (imo).

Topolsky is right. The S6 is good but it isn't earth shattering. I think Samsung hobbled it a bit to differentiate between it and the Note. I hope the next Note Edge is a proper Edge and not hacked together.

What about LG G4.

Guys?

If it's anything like the G3 it should be great. I get like 2% stand by time when I sleep. Camera is good. Apps are smooth. I love the small bezels. Zero complaints here. I think my SO would say the same thing about her G2.

LG G4 might be better than the S6 in all ways but size.

Camera has potential to be better. Battery will be better. Build quality is subjective if you're into leather then it's better because glass sucks.

Raw performance numbers won't be as good as Samsung. They just can't match them.

Raw performance #s mean less and less with each passing year though.

I'm excited to see what that f1.8 cam is gonna be able to do. Hope it's good and not just some half assed shit just so they can say it has a wide aperture.

I think S6 USF fast storage write/read will be more telling than the Exynos vs S810. In fact S810 GPU is supposed to be slightly faster than Exynos'.

S6 UI just has that extra layer of smoothness which i have never felt on past Android phones. Even the Note4 with a CPU running at 2.7Ghz (vs 2.1Ghz) do stutter a bit here and there.

Rumors point to the LG G4 running an 808. Also the throttling on the 810 means it won't actually run faster.

Yep. Heck my G2 is nearly flawless, I can't even fathom what an S6 would bring to the table that a G4 could not. We are easily in an era where battery and build are far more important than minor internal spec boosts.

Its just the newest best Android phone on the market. There were several amazing phones before that.

Heck I couldnt pick a clear winner for 2014 it was an amazing year for flagships.

I mean...you'd think the iPhone 6 being the best iPhone on the market should point to the iPhone being in trouble too.

I'm sure samsung will murder benchmarks for most of the year if not all year long but like you said everything is so fast these days it's kind of negligible. Even the memory read speeds IMO.

Guess we will see though. I hate this in between time, me wants reveals and leaks.

Me too, in terms of design and performance, it's the best phone ever IMO

I thought my HTC One M7 was beautiful, but the Edge just looks like a work of art, I've already had numerous coworkers(who had no idea what it was) comment on it.

I dont agree. There will always be sloppy code which can be crutched with faster hardware.

People stuck on 5.0 need all the performance they can get until 5.1 hits their devices.

Newcomers would prefer TW for the wealth of built-in features which require you to pay for apps to get the equivalent on stock. Also TW generally is the one that Just Works™, unlike stock where you get random battery drains of unknown origin and also memory leak bug in stock Lollipop which OEMs fixed in their skinned versions. Also on TW alarms work through Silent, lol

Again, I think that's more appealing to power users. Not everyone wants a "wealth of built-in features".

And yes Sammy has done a lot of things right (random bug fixes, alarms in silent, etc.), but as a whole package stock still has the upper hand in the Just Works™ department.

the moto g is actually pretty legit. Would be nicer with faster hardware. I am sure the X and nexus 6 are pretty awesome.

It is. It's best to just ignore him. And yeah the "stock family" of phones are really a treat.

No - Touchwiz is easier for beginners for the "just works" department. The alarms in silent mode makes no sense and is not intuitive at all. The power toggles are also much better in Touchwiz - no double swiping or two finger swiping. That's not intuitive or natural either. Touchwiz has a host of other options, but you don't have to mess with those options, and the phone just works if you don't mess with those options.

You still hold a grudge because I keep refuting what you say? hahaha

OK now I know you aren't a credible source. The memory speeds between an S6 to even a G3 is night and day. No where near close.

I didn't say it wasn't noticeable, I said it was negligible. Meaning I don't place a lot of importance on it. I've used an S6 next to an iphone and next an M9 and it was pretty zippy but it wasn't a make or break spec for me. It wasn't like GODDD the M9 is SO SLOWWW.

And nobody here uses more phones than me given my job :p I have to thoroughly test every device month(s) before they come out even and then post release. It's faster and it's a great thing, but make or break these days it is not.

You sure you know what negligible means?

google says "so small or unimportant as to be not worth considering" and I agree with that. I don't think it's important enough to be worth considering. Everything is so fast. It's faster. And that's aboot it. When I use the S6 side by side with another phone I don't think anything of it really.

skip to 1 min and watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CocEfElUTaE

there really isn't a notable difference, M9 even came out slightly ahead in some things. And S6 came out every so slightly ahead in others. Overall it's faster but...yeah. Vid says it all. My experience has been identical.

Its not small or unimportant. Even benchmarks have it destroying other phones. It make be unimportant to you, but that's like saying the loudspeaker between the M9 and S6 is negligible because you don't care for it. It's not.

I don't know how any human can watch that video or try them both side by side in real life and say it's a big difference. I can't even grasp it lol. It's so small.

Everybody is already aware of the strong points of the new TW. Have fun with your Samsung circlejerk. The rest of us are going to compare things sans-circlejerk.

inb4 "b-but you circlejerk stock!" Nope. You can believe what you want, but I point out the strengths and weaknesses of all sides. No OEM gets special treatment.

The Note 5 is coming this year so how could it be a skip year?

Because N6, GOAT4, and G3 came out last year. And this year we got the M9 heater, the controversial S6 (some hate it, some love it), and shitdragon 810 so far. It's just not looking good so far, although the Note 5 will probably be killer with the Exynos.

There you go again, didn't touch on any of the points mentioned and instead go into fanboy defense mode. I touched on the differences between Touchwiz and stock, you call me a fanboy as your argument. I don't even like Touchwiz, but I do feel stock is overrated.

Everyone in this thread knows you from schilling for Motorola before the Moto X was released, we all laughed. Then you kept talking about Project Volta. We all laughed again. You remember don't you? Because everyone else in this thread does.

I'm also currently using a 2014 Moto X, I like to change phones every few months for reasons. I have no problems with the phone's performance, but the battery life and camera are just plain bad versus the last 3 phones I've had - LG G3, LG G2, and iPhone 5s. The 2 LG's I used weren't stock Android, but their performance and usability didn't hinder day to day usage. But those phones didn't drop 20% battery like my Moto X, and the cameras were far better, especially in low light conditions. Stock Android to me isn't worth giving up the battery and camera.

tldr - Fanboy is calling me a fanboy, he should feel bad.
