Android |OT5| The Sonic Cycle

Thanks for the suggestions guys, will be trying out both Habit and Maxthon over the next few days. Habit feels a lot like the stock browser with the slide in controls. Hopefully it is stable.

So people who want those options are SOL because you want a bit of focus. Fuck off and buy an iPhone then.
Those people can build their own phone. Good products are meant to hit main desires. Not to accommodate every desire some one off person thinks is important.

It's a huge improvement, HOWEVER, the memory leak is still present.... Just not as bad.

I've noticed animations going all screwy on mine as of late.

Instead of smoothly appearing from the bottom it will kinda flicker on the screen then appear it's really strange.

Do any of the alternative browsers support swipe to go back, like safari on ios? Would be nice to have one that could smoothly whoosh through a long page on GAF without stuttering too.

Edit: hmm, none of the suggestions seem to be super smooth when scrolling. Habit seems nice and quick - Maxton seemed quite slow when opening the mobile GAF menu for instance. And habit lets you map swipes to forward/back. So going to try that for a while, see how I get on. UI is quite busy though, and I can't work out how to get the address bar to pop up.

Whoa, my Nexus 10 went from 40% battery life to completely dead as I was trying to so some app updates. Granted I hadn't charged it (or even used it) for over a week, but I've never had its battery life indicator be so off before.

Hopefully it's just a minor issue with the software since I did just install the latest Lollipop on it. I'd hate for the battery to be dying.

Anyone in the UK get a prompt for a Z3 update?

I'm guessing this is Lollipop, however last week I read people had issues with battery life or some such. Is this the same update or a revised one? I'd rather not update if it's going to have issues.

It's because you didn't use it in awhile. Don't worry, the N10 is a tank.

Not sure if it's the same update but it's build number 23.1.A.0.726.
No issues with battery so far but I'll update if I have issues.

I have the Z3C, but I'll let you know later. I'm also in US, but apparently since I bought from the UK, I have their firmware and my phone follows that update schedule.

I'm not sure if it would be beneficial for me to flash the US version over the UK. There shouldn't be differences in the radios right?

Damnnn zomg got banned for dissing chrome. I bow to our google overlords.

Also, Huawei announced a phone called the P8 Max. It has a 6.8 inch screen. Hasney get on that!

Have you installed the last Gmail update by chance? It's probably not related, but today it went absolutely rogue on my Nexus 5 and destroyed the battery. I'm talking about 5% battery in few minutes (with Gmail being on top in the battery stats). I had to uninstall the updates and disable it for it to stop.

I'm prepping my HTC One M7 to upgrade to 5.0.2. I'm sure this will get answers all over the map but is it worth it or not?

phandroid finally has their review for the S6 up. Like most reviews, great phone, disappointing battery: http://phandroid.com/2015/04/15/samsung-galaxy-s6-review/

Ok, this will probably put things into perspective better for me. I'd be coming form a HTC One M7 which has a 2300 battery. This is clearly an increase in size in battery but also a higher res and more powerful chipset. Would getting an S6 increase or decrease my battery life?

WHY CAN'T WE BE IN THE FUTURE ALREADY.

Not that it really matters. I can already see it:
"Breakthrough! New battery tech that quadruples battery life hits the market!"
"Also a breakthrough! OEMs now shipping 16K screens on phones! Because fuck you!"
I think the battery life would've been better had they not jumped on the phone anorexia wagon. QHD doesn't seem to have a big impact on battery as straight-up having tiny batteries does.

S6 Active will have 9 hours SoT. Quote me!

I had an M7 back in the day and I've used an S6 on and off the past month. I'd say...the same give or take.

we either need new battery tech or for the skinny obsession to calm itself lol. Battery working on new tech = nexus phone 2015 to have great battery life confirmed.

Just like how 60fps will never be a standard

I've seen a few 128gb Edge's on resale sites, no 128gb regular S6's. All the carriers either didn't get them or only got like 1 until chainwide.

Best Buy didn't have any on sale for pre-order and the Verizon store near me said they weren't getting any 128's until the 20th or some shit.

Yeah I believe it, I'm in Canada but it looks like they won't be coming in until the end of the week or early next week. Definitely annoying, I've tried working and dummy models and I want this phone so badly.

You getting an Edge or regular?

The edge is muy sexy, but I'm going with the regular. It's just too sharp on the sides, digs into my palms (and fingers in landscape). The warped content isn't so bad, same with the slight color shifting on the edges (I thought I'd hate this going in), but the in-hand feel is definitely a lot worse than the reg S6 imo and for me that's a deal breaker for something you're constantly holding in portrait and landscape (video watching/picture taking). Saving $100 also doesn't hurt.

I'm watching Daredevil right now on Netflix and I wish I could watch it on the S6's sublime display. The colors, the pure blacks, the wonderful off angle visibility, the extremely low brightness setting for pitch black darkness viewing. That display alone makes it the best phone of the year (until the Note 5 I imagine).
