Animal Crossing Direct February 20th 9am EST

Also to note this announcement unfortunately saved countless Nintendo Era lives who were ready on the ledge because of the lack of direct.

Tune in on February 20 at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m ET for a roughly 25-minute livestreamed #AnimalCrossing: New Horizons Direct, featuring an in-depth look at Nook Inc.'s Deserted Island Getaway Package!

What is this? There's only 2 positive posts in here. Haters, get out! Animal Crossing deserves its own direct every year. I can't wait to spend hundreds of hours fishing, bug collecting, collecting furniture, crafting, and paying off my debt to a ruthless raccoon! It's going to be great!

I love Animal Crossing, and I'm stoked to get my hands on New Horizons...but come on. At this point, I don't want a direct that's gonna just spoil all the small details of the game. I just wanna play it and figure them out for myself.

At this point, I just want a regular Direct, something that says WTF Nintendo even has planned for releases after March, because I can't think of what the hell is coming out this year that has a solid release date.

I never got into Animal Crossing, but this Island one will be my first.
Already preordered 2 copies - one for my daughter's regular launch switch, and one for my own AC edition switch.... that hopefully even when she's away at my ex's place, that I can play it with her.

Do I need some sort of paid subscription like Xbox Live to play Animal Crossing over internet?

yeah you need Nintendo Switch Online

One question I hope gets answered is the whole 1 island per Switch thing. I have a Switch and a Switch Lite, and I hope they have a way to move back and forth. Knowing Nintendo, they probably have no plans and just expect me to have two separate saves.

I have the same setup that's what im most bummed about, it's already irritating but doable with games without cloud saves but I can live with sending my saves back and forth. Animal crossing at the moment I have to choose which switch to play it on.

cant Wait. Will set alarm for 5:50 am and watch. At least unlike the garbage byleth reveal this one is going to be worth it.

I put way way too much time into new leaf and just hope that the Minecraft copy cat crafting system doesn't ruin it.

People asking for a standard Direct haven't been paying attention to the signs. If there was a Direct imminent, they wouldn't be dropping new Lite colors in tweets.

Have you decided which switch to put it on yet? I am leaning more towards my lite because its designated as my "primary"
Not really. I agree with you, and tend to think the Lite would be a better choice. Although, it seems wrong to have an Animal Crossing-themed Switch on order and not have it be the Animal Crossing machine. It's a dumb thing to worry about, but I hope there's some solution in this Direct.

I disagree. A new switch lite color is nothing worthy of being in a direct. Now a limited edition console variant? That is.

OT: I am interested to see what they have to say, but I am not one of those people who think AC is really needing a direct. The games are simple to a fault and that is what I enjoy. Explaining or showing too much kind of ruins a lot of the fun of seeing new and interesting elements in each new game.

Looking forward to this - already have three copies pre-ordered so they'd have to massively fuck this up for me to be uninterested.

They dropped a limited edition console in a tweet just a couple weeks ago. There's not a general direct imminent. Or perhaps there was one and it got canceled.

Museum is in the game still.
No, I know. I just didn't think it was ever an option that it wouldn't be there. I was just saying that without confirmation, I've made a bunch of assumptions about the game. It'll be nice to get further clarification from Nintendo about all the features, both new and returning.

Ah I see, the press has had it for a week now - so you'll hear a lot more about it (not just from the direct) after tomorrow.

New trailer! It looks like there might be more shakeups to the traditional Animal Crossing formula. Any last minute predictions?

The stream seems to be live on Nintendo UK Youtube channel (the video itselfs begans in about 30 minutes from this post). I won't be able to catch it live, though that's OK since Animal Crossing isn't that interesting game for me.
