Ant-Man |Spoiler Thread| I Think Our First Move Should Be Calling The Avengers

I actually kept myself uninformed in the movie, so I was surprised to see that they're going for Pym's successor than Pym himself (since I don't really like Pym himself - glad he's also more mellowed here).

Anyone else thought Scott has more chemistry with the new husband than his ex-wife? lol

Also RIP Antony :(

An OT for a Marvel film, on the weekend it opens no less, that is barely three pages long?!

Does this reflect a larger apathy towards this film or is all the Ant Man, MCU discussion happening elsewhere?

Maybe because this is the Spoiler thread, not the OT :P

tbqh there's nothing much to spoil in it since it's straightforward

Kinda disappointed on the old Wasp suit though, I don't remember it being essentially "ant-man with wings" in design.

There shouldn't be an Anti-man sequel. Just make the next film Giant-man.

I actually expected that when Scott got out of the subatomic quantum whatever, the device malfunctioned a bit that he grew larger by accident.

It's a bit weird seeing an MCU superhero origin movie again after the barrage of sequels.

Much better showing than Avengers AOU. Really enjoyed all the parts, biggest issue of the whole movie was typical for MCU, which is the villain was lacking. So I think I put it fifth on my list of MCU films, right behind Iron Man.

I dunno, at least the villain has some background with Pym and has a "told, not shown" backstory at least, which is more than what I can say for Iron Monger.

But yeah this film is much more enjoyable than AoU, then again the solo films save for Dark World and IM2 and maybe IM3 are much more enjoyable than Avengers.

I still put the first Avengers pretty high on the list, love that movie and I thought it was so much better than AOU.

Hopefully this isn't the start of Falcon's career as a jobber.

I don't think so. Despite his lack of experience, the Ant-Man suit is extremely over powered. That some squishy dude in a flight suit could hold his own against it is pretty impressive.

"But Ant-Man is overpowered." That's how it starts. The first excuse. Then we just have to look at how bleak the future actually is for him:

- He'll side with Captain America in Civil War, and Cap can't be beaten since he's the leader, so mid-way through the film to give it some "tension", the Falcon will eat it from someone on the opposite side. "But he was up against Iron Man, it's not fair!"

- If he shows up in Doctor Strange he'll be up against demons and monsters from other dimensions. Or the Sorcerer Supreme himself. "But he was up against things not even of this world!"

- If he shows up in GotG2 he'll be up against aliens and other cosmic powers. "But he was up against cosmic forces!"

- If he shows up in Thor Ragnarok he'll be up against gods. "But he was up against gods!"

- If he shows up in Spider-man he will get owned. "But he going easy on the kid!"

- If he shows up in Black Panther.... "Dude it's the Black Panther."

- When he shows up in Infinity War... "Dude it's Thanos."

- If he shows up in Captain Marvel... "But he wouldn't hit a woman!"

Lol. He's doomed.

the subatomic scene was rather awesome. very well done. shame it was over so soon, it sort of made a big deal (going into the quantum realm) seem like something just to be brushed off, haha.

That's interesting though, because now they know how to get out of it... I'm sure the second movie, if it happens, will deal with Pym trying to go in there.

We have our Yamcha for MCU now :D

I've heard that supposedly that Vanessa's art gallery from Daredevil is featured at the end of the film.

Wait , that was her art gallery ? :0

They don't know how to get out of it though. Scott was telling Pym he couldn't remember anything from the end of the film.

I said it in the other thread, saying it here: Cassie Lang is the best kid character in ANY movie in the past decade.

Just fantastic.

If Marvel is playing the long game, and I mean the LONG game, then we're getting our set-up for Cassie putting on a costume and being one of the founders of the Young Avengers.

That's a pretty long wait.

To put it in perspective, Cassie's actor was only two months old when the first Iron Man came out.

This movie features the "atom" (forgot the real name) universe ?

Yes or no only please

Iron Man 3 kid did sign up for more movies...

She was great, but when I think of the best, Chloe Grace-Moretz in Kick-ass comes to mind (may have been a little older) and so does Quvenzhané Wallis (Hush Puppy) in Beasts of the Southern Wild

So, if I read it right, it appear Peyton Reed is the one who come with the idea of Luis rambling and the production writers help him with the shooting montage etc.

Just want to bring it up because I've seen some people who think that must have been one of Wright's work.

So they're responsible for the Hydra stuff too? Hated the hell out of that.

I'll give them credit for the rambling though.

Eh, hydra stuff is so minimal that I don't really mind. If it's not hydra, it's gonna be some random terrorist group.

They could have made it some regular military branch and I think the point of Pym being worried about how this might affect warfare and the future holds up just as well. The film tries too hard at times to throw in scenes or lines of Cross being a villain and it comes off as forced.

...so where the hell were the other avengers? Who the hell is Falcon talking to?

Ant-Man may likely be happening right as pressure from international leaders and public perceptions over the events of AoU are slowly coming to a head, so they're either dealing with that or with some mission elsewhere. As for whoever was on the other end of Falcon's comm...got me there. May be some grunt or something.

You're not gonna be mistaking Cross as not a villain once he kill Frank near the beginning of the movie. That was really gross and disturbing way to die. Don't really expect that in Disney movie. You'd think they'll just vaporize the victim or something. But seeing that gooey remain and Cross casually wiping it out. Holy shit.

I know they said it was Hydra, but one of the guys had a Ten Rings neck tattoo. I don't know what they're doing with that they way they've used the Mandarin, but I thought it was interesting.
