I've never used an Apple product but I'd go with the 15 pro. The Z fold 5 is literally the worst foldable out there. This is not hyperbole.15 Pro or Z Fold 5

Went with the fold 5 myself, With trade in samsung ended up selling me the phone + protection + buds2pro for $740 ish usd.15 Pro or Z Fold 5

This was a real sleeper year for me. Feels like the calm before the storm. Vision Pro is on the horizon. Apple Watch X (10) is next year. iPhone 16 potentially seeing a number of noteworthy design changes, such as an internally designed modem, and under display faceID. The programmable action button becoming standard across the lineup seems like a huge opportunity. I'm expecting next year's hardware and software to have a strong focus on integration, and hopefully, Ajax will take over for Siri, and that dummy can finally be put out to pasture.
I've been a part of Apple's iPhone Upgrade program for about 5 or so years now. I pay about $50 a month and they send me the newest iPhone every year, apple care included. 5 years ago it felt like the phones still had some momentum. There were still a lot of exciting things changing. I take a lot of pictures, so for me, the constantly evolving camera was a big deal for me. Even if the quality wasn't nearly as good as say a proper DSLR camera - you know what they say. The best camera is the one you have with you.
But it's really starting to feel stagnant. The iPhone in its current form already takes magnificent photos and video - and as I get older, I do less and less demanding tasks, gaming included. So unless the iPhone 16 comes out and completely changes the way that I shitpost and text memes, it feels like it's time to settle down with a phone for a long time.
Wake me up when Apple acts on their secret contract with WattUp and the HomePod 4 will wirelessly charge my iPhone XX across the room, and the Apple Watch XV tells me my blood pressure is too high, my glucose is too low, and I'm too drunk to piss my name in the snow.

The phone market is just small changes now, it hasn't been exciting for years. This foldable thing could change things up by Apple isn't releasing one until they can eliminate the fold.

My wife’s Pro arrived. The rounded edges feel much better in hand. The centre of mass makes the phione feel a lot lighter. And the screen with tiny bezels is stunning.
But man, that Apple would ship something with this visual quality out of the box is unheard of:
It’s clearly an accepted compromise, but not the design goal as the product images don’t show it.
Note that this is out of the box, nobody has touched those buttons yet. That’s how it ships.

I watched and read some reviews and even they seemed bored by this new round of devices. Even the shills like Gruber seem like they are going through the motions.

In my photo nobody has touched it, it looks like that fresh out if the box. Afaik they use gloves at Foxconn.

Have you ever actually used a Samsung Fold?
I have and still use sometimes the first gen one since launch. It's thick, but it's not an issue.
Plus, since the Fold 3, Samsung have included the best pen digital pen technology - Wacom EMR.
The obsession with thinness is stupid. Not surprised to find it in a Apple thread though - they really kicked it off.
Oh, and Samsung aren't a Chinese company beholden to the CCP.

Most rechargeable batteries including laptops cars etc benefit from only charging to 80% and not keeping it at 100%. Use the 80% option unless you have a big day planned.

Its corporate greed that they make the user deal with this shit, could always advertise a certain battery size, but internally install a 20% bigger batter. So the user always gets his advertised 100% Battery charge and does not have to care about this stuff.

No it's chemistry. It takes as much power to charge a battery 0-80 as it does 80-100. All lithium batteries are like this.
If you want to take the best care of your phone battery and make it last the longest don't wireless charge as it creates heat, slow charge off an old 5w charger and never let it go to zero. You can charge to 100% if you want on any phone but that doesn't mean its for the best.

I think its fuck up for people to care about this stuff especially as companies could engineer solutions that completely make this a non issue for a consumer.
Regulation should state that advertised battery capacity has to be available for X amounts of loading cycles or years. And voila, companies would install whatever they advertise + 20% as a buffer. The consumer sees 100% charged, but physically the batteries operates at 80% capacity, creating longer lasting products, and less headache for the consumer to think about charging strategies to prolong product life.
The reason its not done already is greed and because Apple and Co. can get away with it.

Anyway, the main place you'd want to use a stylus is on the nice big inside display.
Yes, I'd like Samsung to include it on the outer display as well, but the superior stylus technology that they use makes that tricky to do well. 'But how is that better technology then?!' you may cry.
Well, Wacom EMR does not require a battery in the stylus, is more accurate, is smaller, and doesn't create wavy lines when drawing diagonally.
As for 'shitting up' this thread: you were one of the ones who started discussing non-Apple devices. I wasn't.

I updated to iOS 17 and it’s pretty good other than one issue. When I text and want to send a meme I now need to search through additional layer of menus to do so. Anyway I can change this order and rearrange it? I’ve literally never sent audio with their app so I would like to change it

I am in favor of these devices being more highly regulated, but applying regulation to long-term battery usage really isn't going to work because it's so dependent on how people use their devices, and how they charge them.
I would say a better regulation would be an objective standard around what constitutes N% "health." Like I had my iPhone 12 Pro for 3 years and after 2 years (convenient) it was supposedly at like 85% health but my phone did not go half a day without needing a charge.
