Missed pretty much the entire iPhone portion due to the wonky stream, I'll need to watch it later and look closely at the differences between the 6 and 6 plus. Need new iPhones for me and my parents, I definitely don't want a 5.5 phone though and I have a feeling they don't either.

The Apple Watch isn't aimed at me but it was interesting enough to see the announcement, etc. The videos were pretty slick.

Amount of whining about every single thing in this thread was off the charts, I guess that's to be expected. It would have been nicer to have something closer to the WWDC thread, but alas. Looking forward to things slowing down so people can converse about the products without the hyperbole and shit posts.

I guess $350 is "luxury watch" price, and for it to be priced that way lets people believe that it's supposed to be a high-end luxury device, rather than the lifestyle companion for everyone it was designed to be.

But 'luxury' items like watches are not disposable like electronics are. Most people don't buy a nice watch a yearly/bi-yearly basis. They buy a nice watch and wear it for years.

The problem with a $350 watch is that most people buy a mid-range watch and expect it to work (with a few battery changes) for years and year.

Apple will have a better watch every year like ...clockwork.

For the people that says u2 isn't relevant, name me one other band that can sell out all their shows in arena size stadiums in this day and age? They are the best band to see live in the business, ask anyone that has ever seen a concert from them.

If anything, this is a huge advertising campaign for them to launch another world tour.

We're talking about a mass market product and nobody in that world gives a shit what the iPhone actually costs. As far as 98% of people who've ever bought an iPhone are concerned, it costs 200 dollars. This watch costs nearly twice that.
Most iPhones (60-70%) are sold overseas, where subsidies usually aren't as big of a factor (in the few places that do have them, they're usually designed as a gradual refund but you still see the upfront purchase price--ex. You get $20 off your contract each month).

Is it just me, or is it weird that the band doesn't connect flush with the bottom of the watch? With that hump it seems like it might be kind of uncomfortable.

As an iphone 5s user, I'm not upgrading to the 6. I do prefer the the small form factor of the 4' screen and nothing really screams "must have" with any of the features. The design might grow on me , but it just looks like an iphone touch :( I'm pretty sure I'll be upgrading when the 6s releases... but damn kinda of under whelming update from a hardware / software side of things.

Ya me too. I'm more excited for iOS 8 than an actual new iPhone lol.

I knew something was up when they kept hammering home the Apple Watch's features for an extended period of time. Definitely made it look like them trying to ease into that price point with a mountain of value.

That said? I'm out. $350 is way too steep.

ARMCHAIR ANALYSTS: The price shouldn't be your focus. Value always trumps price. This thing will seem cheap if has features that people want or think they want, within reason. $350 is definitely within reason.

The larger question how compelling will it be..how essential will it feel. I never leave home without my iPhone. It's an essential device. Will the smart watch feel the same way?

Welcome to the Big Screen club iPhone users, you guys are gonna love it.

I don't know if I want to upgrade yet. I'm still rocking my 32GB 4S and it's still working perfectly and I really can't afford a new one. Might wait for 6S

I wanted to go for a medium size phone

But the 6+ looks so much better, i don't even know why :/

I still slightly prefer the 5s design anyway

No, I mean offering a free U2 album will negatively affect sales of the Apple product since U2 are a terrible band that no-one would want to associate themselves with.

It's free to everyone with itunes, unless you really think less people will use that because there's a free U2 album on it

I think this is something that is being missed here.

The reason people buy luxury watches is that the quality last years, decades and with enough care, lifetimes.

Even in the $350 bracket, apart from replacing the batteries, you are easily getting 10 years out of most watches.

The apple watch will be lucky to last 2 years.

I was going to get my daughter an ipod touch for Christmas and figured they were going to announce a 6th generation one. Looking through the presentation notes, I didn't even see it mentioned.

So dumb question: since it wasn't mentioned, does that mean Apple isn't coming out with the 6th generation ipod touch? Or since the market for ipod touches is pretty small, they just didn't want to waste time talking about it?

Just curious!

so september 19 in US and 8 other countries, anyone know who those 8 other countries are?

The official apple website is shit and is not listing the release date plan
