Its so sad the best smartwatch is still the damn pebble.

Android wear excels in design but absolutely faceplants itself in function and longevity

This watch is just ugly and cumbersome... the UI? Oh man. That BMW app with the locked text being bigger than the doors text? It made me cringe.

After seeing that the Apple Watch comes in multiple sizes, with multiple finishes, with who knows how many strap variations.. I think that's going to be the biggest deal that makes other wearables look like they're in the stone age.

Wonder if this will have the same upgrade rate as the iPhone so Apple can sell them in pair every time a new one comes out. It's kinda ingenious.

If you need an iPhone for the watch, then why use the watch if you have your iphone for stuff like twitter, fb, check in, photos? Seems redundant as hell.
I don't particularly get that part. I'm in the market for a fitness tracker and kind of thought/hoped Apple would blow what exists on that front and I'm not super convinced right now.

I would use this as my homescreen.

The Apple watch isn't going to be more than $150 (hopefully) but at this point it's a first generation iteration, it'll probably get better (or worse) in a few years, but for right now it's nothing that's innovating technology.

As always with a new apple product, the initial reactions will be gold to go back and read in 3 years when everyone and their mom is using one.

This same story repeats itself time and time again.

The fitness stuff is honestly the only stuff that has me interested.

Otherwise, the rest of that stuff I can do with my phone.

What annoys me about this watch is just doing everything for you (train times, directions) and means people won't be thinking for themselves. I can perfectly find know when to get off.

What if you go to some place you have never been? It makes thinks easier.

Technology is all about making things easier so you can focus on other stuff. It's great.

I am confused by the iphone requirement for Apple Watch.

Do you have to carry an Iphone around to use the watch of could you leave your phone at home and just use the watch by itself?

I kinda jumped into the thread and live stream a bit late. I keep seeing people here saying the 4.7 is gimped compared to the 5.5. Anyone mind giving me a brief summary as to how it is gimped? Thanks!

Uhmnmm... that seems awfully optimistic

Lower resolution and battery life, no optical image stabilisation on the camera.

I would be totally all over smartwatches if they weren't so expensive. I love the concept but not enough to throw 300 bucks at it.

Still, when they are cheap enough they are going to be great.

Then I'd figure it out? I go on holiday and get a train in somewhere I've never been before and prefer to figure it out myself. I don't know have to rely a watch to tell me when the train time is.
