I used to use AIM, until I started working on my bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering a decade ago.
I much prefer Google Talk before it got rolled into Hangouts. Still annoyed that my conversations get interrupted every time Chrome needs to reboot for an update.

There's always a response early in the thread about being down YoY in software sales despite the negligence to consider what was released last year or digital sales.
The doom and gloom concern is always my least favorite part of NPD threads. It always happens. I've just learned to ignore it. I do wonder, however, how many grey banners we will see drop this time around?

NPD night always seems to creep up on me out of nowhere. Just realised the release is in a few hours. Happens every month. Now Aqua's out of the picture do we have any way of getting hard numbers? Does Cream still post? Just curious as I'd be interested to see the state of the industry at the moment. And for that we need numbers.

I know these are digital sales and PS4 only and probably worldwide, but it still sold quite well in April. Okay, this doesn't mean anything at all.

I don't get that commercial. It says "It is now the number one selling video game" if I'm not mistaken. What exactly does that mean? For a day, week, month? It's not all time so it's a bit disingenuous.
I would assume it means for a few weeks. Technically, a lot of games could say "number one selling video game" if their time frame was like 1 Day.

I'm not here to try to predict "gaming is dying" or anything like that, but I do think we'll see a significant decline in April specifically.
Last year had Titanfall still hot with its late April release. But other than that, we didn't have any real big releases in April this year or last. April is just a slow month. And for slow months... I expect retail to suffer - more and more people going digital.
Other things that could exacerbate are Hearthstone's expansion pack and a lot of DLC coming out this month. People buying up cheaper experiences digitally (or playing Hearthstone on their phone/PC).
Lastly, there were a lot of sales this last month. PSN flash sales. Steam had a sale. Xbox had a sale. But the hardware itself wasn't on sale, which could mean lower demand.
Again, not saying "it's the death of gaming" or anything like that - just that I'm expecting a 7-10% decline in overall hardware and software sales.

You're really undervaluing MKX.
My prediction - software flat to up low single digit %, HW down high single digit %.
Really? I just don't think MKX made up for the gap in Titanfall and Infamous: Second Sun's March tails.
I also think that MKX probably had a heavy digital push. They had a lot of takeovers in the PS4 and XB1 stores. Also remember that last April had the FIFA World Cup on PS3/Xbox360 and FFXIV on PS4.
And since when did Fifa sell anything in the US?
