Nope. That's the meta game within a game opening before you are recruited.

That's the abstergo products the game you could play.

They reference past AC games (albeit the abstergo versions) and future dlc (china)

Can someone explain this to me.

(taken from youtube video)

What exactly is this?

Is there all these different game types to play?

Im so confused thinking that playing Arno's story it's suddenly going to end and i'll have to move on?

Just met that weird bloke that speaks to you while that guy's getting his leg cut off.

Play the game and you'll now in 30 minutes.

It's just a bit of flavour. The conceit of the story is that Abstergo is trying to market the Animus as a consumer product in the modern day world of Assassin's Creed. People can just go to a store and buy them, like VR goggles or whatever. In AC Unity you're playing as some random person who went out and bought an Animus, and that's the range of games/memories/experiences available when you boot it up for the first time.

(Only the Jacques De Molay one is actually playable in real life, though.)

Ahhhhhh, Okay. I understand now, Cheers

Game breaking issues are a "non-issue" to me. Never had any of those, even before the patches. Small bugs, yes, but they're mostly fixed, although you can still face some weird things here and there.

Framerate wise, the worse offenders are gone, like the 2-3 FPS while inside one of the churches, but the overall framerate (at least on PS4) still hovers around 25-30 FPS.

Totally playable though. Go for it.

The frame rate is really between 25-30 now? I thought I read it was still low 20's, even after the patches. That's much better then I thought

Can anyone tell me if it's worth playing the assassin and murder mystery side quests? The map is so bogged down with crap that I am thinking of just completing the rifts and main missions and being done with it.

I actually quite like the game but hate padding for the sake of padding.

The murder mysteries are fantastic, and I've also really enjoyed the assassin missions, so..... Yeah.

Just try a few and see if you like them.

Digital Foundry's analysis of the most recent patch found that the framerate hasn't noticeably changed at all. 2% difference at the most, which they consider to be within the margin of error.

Can anyone tell me if it's worth playing the assassin and murder mystery side quests?

The Murder Mysteries are really cool, probably the best of the side missions for me. The Paris Stories range from complete wastes of time (escort a slow-walking NPC through some low-level fights) to pretty cool (steal something from a heavily guarded area, it's up to you to work out how you want to play it).

I really wish they'd fix the *bleeping* Initiates site. It's been pretty much unusable for weeks now.

As an aside, has anyone using the companion App had issues with chest unlocks in-game? It seems like every time I try to open one of the blue chests, I get a message about having to play the companion App to unlock it. I'd be willing to give the benefit of the doubt on one or two, but it seems like all of them refuse to open in-game; and I've played the companion App a ton.

Both of those things work fine for me.

Stupid question, you are trying to open blue chests you've earned in the companion app yes? Not just random ones?

Worth getting this for $30? Sounds like the game is running a bit better since launch?

I bought it after the second patch (PS4), other than more pop in than I'd like and the odd graphical glitches like civilians standing on things they shouldn't be like the half way up a pillar I've had no major issues.

I even climbed about that stained glass window that killed the fps on youtube videos and didn't have much of frame rate drop.

Even the Initiates site works for you? I've tried everything, different browsers, clearing browser cache and all that. It just hangs on the "Please Wait" modal after I supply my username and password.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm trying to open ones I unlocked in the App. It seems like the App is kind of spotty about connecting/syncing with my game when I fire it up.

Initiates works spot on for me in IE, Chrome and direct via the game to the XB1 browser.

Companion chests work fine, but as you know from the app, one of your nomads will automatically loot it for you after 24hours of earning it anyways, so are you at least getting them that way?

The initiates site works fine for me (both firefox and PS4 browser), but unlocking the nomad chests and missions in game does not work.

Tracking arno and the collectibles and stuff like that works fine, but when i finish missions in the app and the chest unlocks i can't open it ingame. After 24 hours (all the while blocking an assassin slot) the chest is removed from the app, but it's still closed in the game.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get the app to work properly?

I tried signing out of uplay and back in, closing and restarting the app while running the app and stuff like that... but nothing seems to help :(

I'm really enjoying my time with this game despite so much negativity surrounding it.

The city is astonishing. So beautiful, so overwhelmingly detailed, it just blows my mind. I actually like the parkour here more than in any other AC Game (I've played and beaten them all). I love the new animations and how you can quickly traverse downward instead of just blindly jumping off buildings when you want to return to street level. The story also has a sweet, personal touch not seem since AC2, even though Arno is no Ezio, he's much more relatable than Connor. I also love the upgrades and unlockables, great addition.

The combat is alright, requiring more skill than previous entries but still feeling a little "blah".

Overall this is one of my favorite AC games, just behind Ac2 and Brotherhood.

To be fair, I did play the game after several patches came out and have encountered very few glitches or serious frame rate problems, so that probably counts for quite a bit, but damn.... The content and artistry on display here puts wannabes like Shadow Of Mordor to absolute shame.

In hindsight, yeah, it was. However, the context back then was the 4-player coop reveal where Ubisoft made a big deal about customising your character .

Now that we now know how the multiplayer actually works, it was silly to expect gender options but I remember being puzzled by it until they clarified the original statement.
True, but since it's an AC game it should be expected that you only play as one main and possibly other people who're related.

I dont know how it was at launch.

But honestly... This game is AWESOME.
Im having tons of fun playing it alone or with my cousin in co-op. Too damn good!

Overall the peformance is not hurting my experience. There are some areas that it can be pretty bad though.

The game has improved a lot in many regards. Combat is more challengening, customization is bigger, mission structure is better, parkour using RT+B/X makes things easier aswell, the world is filled with tons of NPCs, the graphics are gorgeous and the city is big.

In my honest opinion, yes, 30 dollars well spent here (I paid the same).

Man, getting every collectible in this game is bordering on painful... I shelled out in-game currency to buy the cockade and treasure chest locations, yet it seems more tedious than 2, Brotherhood or Revelations for some reason. I thought I had finally gotten all of the cockades until I didn't see the achievement pop up, checked the progress tracker, and saw I had 0/8 in Versailles. Sons of bitches.

The size of the map plus the loading times (when you fast travel) and the constant annoyance of extremists starting shit with you makes it borderline maddening at times.

Is it possible to collect your income with the companion app?

Yes, when you finally open the blue chests they will give you income. You can open the chest yourself or wait 24 hours in the app.

Of course, you get like 750F per chest.

The app is an absolute insult. I just started a 24 hour mission. Ridiculous.

Sorry, I meant the Café-Theater income!

They shouldn't even show the chests until they've unlocked. It's asinine.

Did that patch that was supposed to improve framerate on PS4 ever release?

If so, can anybody confirm or deny whether there was any noticeable improvement?

Unnoticeable improvements according to Digital Foundry. The real frame rate patch is in the works still.

Anyone else having problems to connect to someone else game or to invite someone?

Im trying with my cousin but when he calls me to a game it works just fine, and when I call him, all he gets is "Connection Failed". I wonder what the hell is happening.

So I picked this up a few days ago after watching some friends play co-op. I'm very happy that I got this. Aside from obvious bugs and what not I've had a lot of fun. Beating people with muskets is very satisfying.

Hand built working replica of a French 1763 flintlock pistol. :D

Actually it was AC4 that made me want a flintlock, but this particular one is what the French used during the time that ACU is set.

It's quite a beast... .69 caliber so it's literally a hand cannon. Haven't fired it yet though.

So badass. 69 Caliber?!

Large projectile, low velocity is usually how oldschool firearms were.

It's a little scary. I realize weapons today are significantly more deadly but man, it would suck pretty badly to get hit by a .69 caliber ball and not be killed right away.

As a side note, I find it funny how the characters in the AC games have such an amazing ability to always hit what they're aiming at with a flintlock pistol. Shooting a modern handgun without much training is really difficult as is, but this thing doesn't even have sights and the trigger pull is so heavy that you almost need two hands to keep your hands from shaking while trying to shoot it.

Good ol' video games.

So is this fixed on pc yet?

I just bought a GTX 970 and get to choose between 3 free games, FC4, Unity and The Crew. I had already bought FC4 (my GOTY BTW). So now I have to decide between the two not so great titles.
