Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Titled

yeah, it's not a Man of Steel 2 (if it ever was to begin with). It's pretty firmly a Batman/Superman team movie, not a Superman sequel.

Guys this is the most important comic book origin story because it's AN ORIGIN STORY ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF JUSTICE ITSELF.

Doesn't make that statement true. Batman is up there but superman fell from grace in the 90s and still only just started getting back up after Man of Steel. Spiderman, wolverine and ironman are "finer" than Supes at this point. If this movie presents a good Supes then maybe you could call the next one Worlds Finest. Actually nah....still hate that name.
People who don't pay attention to any of this stuff still reference Superman. When someone is a hero, or someone is mimicking flying, they're "Superman." Not Spider-Man, and definitely not Wolverine or Iron Man. The latter two have decades to go before getting that kind of recognition.

Spidey is arguably on their level, but it gets no bigger than Batman and Superman.

World's Finest would have been soooo much better. I guess it made too much sense.

Batman and Superman are two of the most iconic and recognizable characters in the history of fiction; it's pathetic that Warner Bros doesn't trust people to get what the movie is without that horribly clunky title.

Whether the movie sucks or not won't be decided by the title. Good news is Snyder's visuals are awesome and the re-write was done by a much better writer than Goyer. Let's at least see them together in footage.
We don't know enough about Terrio to crown him yet though. It's Affleck's involvement that's the biggest upgrade to this team.

BVSDOJ.

The abbreviation is also not cool.

BVS (bee vee es) is fine... rolls off the tongue as well as the familiar CVS. We're all used to DOJ (dee oh jay) from the Department of Justice.

...

Look, I'm trying here.

It is actually easier to say abbreviated than anything with "W" in it....

Batgod descended from the heavens and unto the world did he create the laws of man.

Haha okay. You're wrong, but okay.

DOJ

I'm now calling this movie Dogeman

lol, Superman is the most iconic superhero there is. Regardless of even comics and movies that name/character is instilled in our culture, and the rest of the world. Superman will always be the "finest".

Given that we know that this is ultimately going to be a team-up movie, I dislike the idea of Batman and Superman fighting each other being the primary focus of the film's marketing. Though I guess I'll have to wait for the first trailers/posters to really judge.

Seriously, why not Batman & Superman? Did they use "v" in the title instead of "versus" because some suit thought the latter sounded too aggressive?

Because maybe the will not be friends for the majority of the movie? How is this hard to understand for so many people here?

Avengers made a lot of $$$.

Fox want to make same amount by throwing a bunch of Xmen characters together too $$$

WB want to make same amount by throwing a bunch of Justice League characters together too $$$

The title makes perfect $$$ sense
To be fair wb planned a justice league movie waaaay before avengers made any money. They were always going to go down this road.

It was never really announced as MOS 2 was it?

It was clear after MoS they wanted to move along towards JL so this is the next phase of that move. Not necessarily a MoS 2 but Batman and Superman.

Also those worrying that this makes Batman the main character because they just revealed him and his car...you do realize its because this is a new Batman. The Nolan-Bale Batman is gone so they sort of have to re-introduce him. Superman is played by the same actor and at most will have minor touch ups on his suit.

I still can't believe people crying so much over a title. Yes Batman will fight Superman in the movie. We all know this is how it will at least start off and by the end or even in the middle they will join forces. Doesn't Batman is automatically the main character but the marketing might focus more on him because its Batman and he is being re-introduced.

May not have been announced as a pure Superman sequel, but they led off by saying it was a Man of Steel sequel before then being given further information about it being a Batman - Superman movie, then the Wonder Woman news and others may end up popping up throughout.

Still don't like it, i hate being a negative nancy on a forum but it still doesn't sit well with me. I'll have to accept it's a sign of the times, we're no longer in the 70's and 80's - Superman's not the only superhero on the block that was turned into a movie.

I have little faith in the movie since Man of Steel was poorly written and edited to boot.

It was ostensibly introduced as MOS 2 because they could have the cast there to get hyped at comic-con. But they never really referred to it as that. Hell the quote they read out was a Batman one.

Batman five Superman colon Dawn of Justice...

I still can't fucking believe it. What have I done in my life to see Batman getting top billing in a fucking Superman movie?

Thats a pretty shite title. Worlds Finest seemed like such an obvious choice i'm bewildered that they went with this. You'd think the inclusion of Justice League characters would show what they were building towards but nope better throw it in the title just incase.

Wow, that is astonishingly bad. Luckily I guess I don't need to bother getting my hopes up. I'll expect something dumb and marginally entertaining out of Redbox (like MoS)

+1

I like the title, I could even go as far to suggest they just name it Dawn of Justice and completely omit Superman/Batman like Man of Steel did.

I still can't get over how insanely fucking perfect Cavill is in that costume. Then there's those eyes, kind and approachable but not to be fucked with.

So in essence this is a Batman movie and the rest are just side characters :(

Who can say? Maybe. They haven't cast a lot of Batman lore characters (Gordon etc) and we know a decent chunk of the MOS cast are coming back. Also WB were closer to that JL film then people think. It was literally days from shooting in 2007, but Australia backed out of a tax exemption they promised. That script has a decent spread, not just a Batman circle jerk. Hell, even Aquaman was cool.

Yeah Cavill was literary born to be Superman. He's the perfect fit.

I think pretty much all of MoS cast is back. With Batman you only have Batman and Alfred confirmed so far.

Not to mention Lex is in it. So, it could be Supes/Bat split evenly.

Actually no Batman villains were announced so it seems more like a Supes film so far. In fact when Snyder was discussing why Batman is in it he said he wanted a different sort of a challenge for Superman to fight as opposed to the almighty and powerful Zod. So you could even see Batman as the villain in a Superman movie.

My first reaction to this title is not good. Feels like a fan fic title to me.

I would have called it Man of Tomorrow and had the marketing play off the trifecta of Clark, Bruce and lex.

I feel that DC films were differentiating themselves from marvel with the titles that don't feature character names. Now that niche is gone.

Still, I could care less if the movie is great.

I've said it in the other thread and I'll say it again, that's the worse fucking name ever. It sounds like a crappy fan movie.
To think someone actually sat there and came up with this is amazing.

It's weird to me that they're advertising this movie as "HEY GUYS THIS MOVIE IS ALL ABOUT BATMAN FIGHTING SUPERMAN!!!"
They're probably going to come up with a website next to make you vote for who you want to win.

I think with this and Avengers: Age of Ultron we've reach the point where the comic book movies just plain don't care about the title.

Yep very true. I guess I feel salty because back in 08 having a batman movie called "The Dark Knight" felt like the genre was becoming respected and legitimised. But I guess we shouldn't really care about legitimacy.

I know what you mean. I dislike the title for the same reason also. WB was doing well with the naming scheme till now. I would have preferred just Dawn of justice actually.

Sounds perfect then. Because that's what most Warner/DC movies are!

How so? DC officially license out their properties to be made into films by WB, and are produced in much the same capacity as Marvel films: they hire outside screenwriters, directors and producers to bring their franchises to screen.

How is it fanfiction if its officially licensed by DC? Or at least, moreso than Marvel, 2000AD or any other publishing company that licenses out franchises for movie adaptions?

Cause most of them suck! :P

Can't believe you took that seriously.
