Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

Ben just wanted to do this movie for his kids not for the fans or even WB/DC. Personally I do not think he was the best option to do Batman.

So when the "best" part of the movie is Ben's Batman and the rest is lame you can say you are screwed.

The problem with Superman is that he resembles an America than does not exists any more , its an 80s superhero that do not fits these days and DC has not find the way to do it. Marvel has the same situation with Captain America but they did a better job.

Suicide Command seems will have better luck, because it's the kind of movie people want to see these days.
Wait... huh?

I'm actually surprised Marvel didn't outright get full rights to spidey given the state sony was in.

They don't have any rights over Spidey, really. Sony still holds the film rights for Spidey but they realized it would be smart to let the Marvel folks basically run the show while they get a chance to make money off of the new MCU spidey instead of throwing their own turd versions of spidey films out there and hoping for the best.

Disney did get the merch rights back for spidey not too long ago, though, so they have an incentive to make spidey legit good on the big screen again, too.

As awful as Snyder looks, I like how he's staring at the graphic like it's mocking him.

Ok after watching the cast interview post reviews.

Come the fuck on.

This isn't worse than Thor , Iron man 2 etc...

Sure it has lots of issues, but it's not that bad of a movie. I feel like it's being destroyed for representing something more than for its own qualities as entertaining flick.

It's gonna drop under 30% . It doesn't deserve this.

I'd rather watch Iron Man 2 and Thor a thousand times over than watch BvS again. No hyperbole.

At least Thor felt like Thor and Iron Man felt like Iron Man. I just watched two pretenders in Superman and Batman costumes tarnish the legacy of my two most favorite heroes of all time and utterly miss the point of what makes them great characters.

I'm tired of even being nice about it. I hate this movie. It deserves everything coming to it.

if this needs salvaging they have to delay JL and retool it. Wonder Woman is likely going to be like thor or captain america 1. just the usual middle of the mall superhero movie. but with a woman this time which is nice.
Fuuuuck that..I'll stay my ass home. Can't stand either of those movies..

For the longest time, I've wanted to see someone make a major Superman film that is set in the 30's. It'd be a slightly more visual 30's with lots of Art Deco imagery (the Empire State and the Chrysler building is of that design, for instance.

So basically Superman set in the same time period as Batman TAS?

Definitely a Sky Captain flick or for a better quality movie reference, The Rocketeer.

Baz Luhrmann's Superman with music by Future.

Forgive my ignorance: where did the idea of "let's rush to the JL movie and use BvS to set it up" come from? Is that someone at WB or Snyder?

I guess Warner wanted to go the opposite of Marvel's approach and use a team-up movie to set up all the solo films. I don't have a problem with that approach in theory. Doesn't seem to be playing out well in execution.

No, as in someone went into the ratings board for movies and grabbed it

Deadpool's test footage was only given to 3 or 4 people. That rating was basically accessible by anybody.

Thanks for the elaboration man, but I'll just stick to my scenario. It might have happened just as coincidentally as you described, but it's just as easy for someone inside WB to anonymously give someone a heads up on the info. The latter is funnier to me.

How much money will the BvS make?

I went on Fandango and reserved seats aren't filled out. 2/3rds to 90% of it are taken.

Doesn't seem as successful as Zootopia.

But that's the dilemma we're in, isn't? We want to support things, because if we don't, they'll disappear into the abyss... But if they're terrible, we're sending the wrong message.

You're not even wrong here.

I remember when Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Elektra, and Catwoman all came out at nearly the same time and all bombed.

And my jaw dropped when a movie studio head then declared that "female-led action movies don't make money" and cancelled all female-led action vehicles and rejected all female-led movie pitches.

Because it was the women that were the problem... not the shoddy scripts, bad directors, or horrible studio decisions. Nope, blame the women.

I'd dig that, too.

Somewhat related - one of several reasons I enjoyed Agent Carter so much.

And so long as we're going with What Ifs -- I wonder how this movie would have turned out if Snyder played it more like he did with Watchmen, and just adapted DKR and set the whole thing in the mid 80s? It'd run totally counter to Warner's DC movie plans, of course, but I bet the critical reception would have been a hell of a lot better, even with all of the same players on board.

I've experienced the exact opposite, the only acclaim I've seen for the show is in GAF... And of course friends' girlfriends, but they don't count cause they watch horrible shows like real housewives of basketball players or sumtin.

I am laugh cringing so hard right now.
