Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

i'm not a fan of the site but doesn't the industry use that as a measure of audience reception? (aside from twitter of course)

hail caesar and the witch have C-, whoever they're testing for these scores aint shit.

Comedies and Horror get wildly varying CS are both very subjective and what one person finds funny/scary another could find offensive.

Action films rarely ever get less than a B since everyone can be entertained by explosions.

I foresee that being the case for pretty much all the DC movies. These are going to be a way for critics to get off on poo pooing superhero movies the way you know they really want to. It's just so obvious looking at those RT comparisons with movies that did better rating wise and you can just feel the haterade. Like MoS no its not going to be a great movie, but give me a break treating it like its cancer incarnate.

How can you say critics are secretly hating superhero movies when the consistent criticism of this film is the uncharacteristic treatment of Superman and the consistent praise of it is of Batman? I don't see anyone lambasting it for being a comic book movie like a stuffy critic.

You're talking out of your ass.

Only one film in history has managed to get above 150m in March OW. This isn't like summer box office.

BVS numbers close to 130m and above would be good.

LOL this ain't no normal film.

This is a multi-billion dollar franchise starter. If this film does not provide fat fat profits for WB stockholders you bet your ass people are going to take their money elsewhere.

Why does March do worse than May to July at the box office? March has holidays too. School isn't even out yet in May either.

No, $15M better than MoS OW would not be good at all. I take it you don't follow box office numbers whatsoever or else you'd know BvS was tracking much higher prior to reviews releasing and the incredibly high production and marketing budget behind this thing requiring a stellar showing. Don't accuse people of talking out of their ass when you have shit dribbling down your chin.

I still cant believe it, 32% fucking hell I figured 55% to be the floor Jesus.

Give Affleck the keys and let chivo do the DP'ing for his own movie.

when deadpool pulls in 130 million in its feb opening weekend, better believe under 150 for BvS would be seen as a huge disappointment.

Just saw it and... what a wasted potential. I mean, I'm probably the only one who didn't even like 300 because of Snyder's directing but this time I had a little bit of hope because hey, he's got responsibility!
He fucking did it again. This movie is a trailer: some random simbology. Slow motion everywhere. Absence of rhytm. Powerpoint editing. But very good looking scenes I have to say.
What about the story? Some very good ideas packed with dogshit messy things I can't even define. Batman is both the highlight and the worst thing about the movie, he lacks a BASIC rule of the character. Superman is the MoS one, maybe a little bit better. Overall I liked some action scenes and some other things, I probably liked it more than MoS... maybe. I don't know. Fucking Snyder.

Like, sorry but I have to make it clear, there's one scene; it's supposed to be badass you know? And it would be, on paper. Instead you literally get to see a close shot of the character 3 times, one after another. With the music theme repeating 3 times. What was that supposed to be?

Waaaay too late for that.
hmm most of the shitflinging between users happened at the beginning of the thread, yeah. people should just step away from their keyboards/phones if they're feeling too heated about a movie review thread, no need for personal attacks and such.

Looks like Snyder loves his March openings.

At least he'll beat his March OW record for 300. That's something for him to hang his hat on.

31%

and lol at the guy saying 130M OW would be a very good result....

It would be a colossal fail for warner if it gets just that... their target was 300M iirc

Summer box office isn't like summer box office, either. You're saying this less than a month after an R-Rated Deadpool movie made 130mil in its opening weekend, less than a few months after a new Star Wars movie made 250 mil in its opening weekend in December, less than a year after both Avengers 2 just barely missed 200mil in its opening weekend, and Jurassic World just cleared it.

The idea that anyone at WB is going to be pleased with a Batman v Superman that only makes about 15mil more than Man of Steel's opening weekend is a silly one. They're gonna be fuckin upset.

I really feel sorry for Affleck. His whole motivation for doing this thing was that Daredevil sucked.
he did daredevil because he thought hed never get to be batman. i think he really just loves batman

which is why im not too sad for him. i have to assume his solo batman movie directed by ben affleck and starring ben affleck is a guarantee at this point.

At this point might it be in WBs best interest to take it out of theaters on April first so that they can claim it was all some sort of April Fools joke?

But Ben's next film isn't even out until October 2017. He's got no time already, wouldn't he not have more pet project than to be toed down to DC?

It'd be cool if he got to do it. I'm all for second chances, and he's not bad in the role.
