Well I'm still pretty hesitant to check it out myself, even though I have a free theater ticket for the film. Maybe at best, I'll check it out on Sunday, due to being out of town on Friday and the possibly of family members visiting on Saturday. And whether I'll check out the Justice League (emphasis on that) film or not will depend on my enjoyment of BvS.

I really, really want to like this film. ;_;

Marvel acquiring cutting a deal with Sony for Spider-Man and immediately deploying him in Civil War makes sooooo much more sense to me now

That's more on Sony wanting to get a piece of that real marvel produced money making pie after asm2 underperformed and reviewed mixed than it was Marvel feeling like they needed to counter this in any shape or form.

I just saw it...it's not a 31% movie, but holy shit did it disappoint me in areas!

Also, what they did to Batman was unacceptable.

You can always convince/trick yourself into liking it by overinflating the parts you liked to an astronomical level with paper thin excuses that wouldn't fly if it were any other film. That way the minor positives engulf the entire film and you end up thinking it was good overall.
Seems like a lot of people in the OT for this movie have that kind of mind power.

In short - believe and it will be so.

I'm just glad we have our separate threads now or there would be be blood on the walls in this thread by now

Oh good I was waiting for the part where people who like the movie are just delusional and fooling themselves! God forbid people express different opinions!

Or simply, the movie sucks.

You know what, I didn't enjoy Deadpool as much as I should have. I didn't watch it on day one and more like month one. I watched it in peace, with no audience clapping and cheering along with me, and I may have cracked up at three instances. It was one of the safest movies I've ever seen. It spoiled everything in trailers (Note: I think BvS also spoiled most of the movie in trailers which killed the hype), and there were no major reveals or a reason for the plot to continue. People may say "DUH! IT'S DEADPOOL" but that is no excuse for a movie with no plot.

You definitely lose alot on what is essentially a dark comedy, without the energy of the crowd.

You think we're being too dickish about this whole thing?
This is how we cope I guess. I can only hope that that very few people wanted this movie to fail, despite the contempt held for Snyder and MoS.
I'd like to think that even the most hardcore Marvel fanboy likes Batman. We all want to see rad Batman movies.

No, I don't think anyone is being too dickish or too cynical or whatever. We're all entitled to express our feelings on the movie (short of offering a personal critical take without having seen it). I just remember yesterday, it got pretty heated in here a few times in the early pages of the thread.

I think most of the people in this thread honestly wanted this movie to be more of a critical success than it is. Not all, but most. I know I did.

The movie staff just said they're not playing trailers before the film. Fuck, and I wanted to see the Captain America Civil War trailer on the big screen.

Same happened at my screening yesterday, I wanted to see Civil War trailer but the trade off in going straight to the movie was worth it.... can often get 20-30 minutes of commercials in Australia which gets annoying when you'd like the movie to start at the advertised time.

I just watched it. It was enjoyable, the first half of the movie just took itself way too seriously, it was boring man I saw people pull out their phones my girlfriend included, infact I heard a kid yell out "the first half was so boring" as I walked out, no kidding. So many needless scenes that just made it feel disjointed. The last arc definitely salvaged the movie for me and you can also see the very obvious build up for Justice League movie happening. Batffleck, Wonder Woman and Lex were all great to watch for me. But you definitely see where the critics are coming from with this, so much exposition and creating a forced sense of grandeur. Anyway go watch it, you're bound to at least enjoy and appreciate the experience. It's an OK movie, dare I say good, it just isn't a great movie. The future movies in the DC expanded universe are definitely salvageable and can be built upon, just need to take away Snyder from the helm.

We have those in America too. They proudly proclaimed "you've been watching the regal preshow countdown!". Like they're doing you some kind of big favor.
